This game is going to be a sequel to what is the second best game ever.

It looks fantastic.
Gamespot has a video that is a mini-spoiler for the plot of the first game, alongside some great interviews and gameplay footage.

Mostly, I'd like to discuss a few things.

1) Are you more excited for this or Diablo III?
2) What do you think about the three-game idea?
3) AKJDIHFJAIPFIGJLAGLAKLLGFKAGSTARCRAFT2ISCSSOSSOOSOSOSOFUCKINGCOOOOOOOOL.

I'm really excited. Starcraft was the second RTS I ever played, and has therefore remained second to only AoEII in my mindfavourites. I must have watched both of those Starcraft II Battle Reports with the horrible horrible commentary four or five times each. So good.

On a bit of a tangent, I wish more people would do nice commentated Battle Reports like that for RTSs, or even possibly some FPSs. Just make the commentary better and that's a fantastic timesink.

How did it take this long to get a topic for this?

Also I've not payed much attention to SC2 but what I have seen looks the exact same as starcraft but in 3D

I thought there was already a topic for this, but that was probably in the old forums.
In my opinion, it looks nice, but I wish there was something new to it besides some new units and new graphics (and, of course, a new campaign). Gameplay-wise, it seems very much the same to Starcraft, which could either be a good thing or a bad thing.
I don't especially like the 3-game idea (it just seems too much like an excuse to get people to spend more to me), nor the idea to get rid of LAN support (when I used to play Starcraft, I almost always played over a LAN).

Yeah, that makes sense. (Not being sarcastic)

Ah ancient Mayans the first starcraft fans.

I meant the first Starcraft - it just seems to be an eleven-year-old game with newer graphics. Sure, it's fun, and there are the new units and abilities to spice up the gameplay a bit, but I was hoping for some more changes, because I might as well play Starcraft 1 if I want the same gameplay.

Yeah, this game is going to take a really long time to come out (it's already been years).

Then you obviously aren't aware of the tons of new dynamics, including an expanded single player campaign, the speed of vehicles being more important than ever, and the new terrain looks fantastic.

1) What slappy said.
2)a. Halo 3 is just Halo with newer graphics
b. N+ is just N with newer graphics
c. SSBB is just SSB with newer graphics
d. Ratchet Future: ToD is just Ratchet and Clank with newer graphics
point made?

Yeah, but those classics weren't the best game ever.

Wait.

Point made, and point taken. I was probably just expecting too much new stuff from Starcraft II. Starcraft II is looking very nice so far. I just hope Blizzard doesn't screw anything major up before it gets released.

Edit: Seeing this video of the editor makes me more excited about this, though.

I think it would be safe to say that there are a few Starcraft fans here, right?

Watch this first:
http://www.gametrailers.com/video/cinem ... t-ii/19777

Singleplayer gameplay here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q9YXVpi_mKQ

Here's an entire multiplayer battle, with commentary:
http://www.starcraft2.com/features/battlereports/1.xml

So, yeah. I'm moderately excited. How about you?
I almost forgot, Starcraft 2 is being split up into three parts. Part I follows the Terrans, Part II follows the Zerg race, and Part III follows the Protoss.

Edit: what was wrong with my topic? ;_;

Ugh. Other than that I am excited. I should have my new computer by the time this comes out, so I'll be able to play it properly. By the way, how are they spacing out the three releases? I'm going to see if I can get a couple of friends together so we can each get one of the campaigns.

We should get an AoEII game going, then. That would be pretty sick. Secret alliances are the bomb.

Diablo III is much more exciting to me, especially with all the new stuff they are working in. I'm really anticipating the different energy systems for separate classes.

At the suggestion of someone on another forum, I went and youtubed the SC2 theme music, quite entertaining.

There are also some 1080p gameplay vids up :D

Hey, in anticipation of SC2, I'm running a D&D type roleplaying game set in the Starcraft universe wherein the combat is determined by actual Starcraft gameplay, if anybody is interested in joining us.
