I am so excited for this. I dunno how much I'm going to enjoy it now that I no longer have an HD TV, though. ;-;

im sorta here and there with this game: dedicated servers are defiantly a plus, but how long will the single player game be? will you need GFWL and internet to even install it? ill keep my fingers crossed but i defiantly feel like the glory days of fps are dead and buried and the content lacking due to lack of give-a-shit from the heavy hitter game companies (like activision). while creative hard working game companies like IW are bought out, tricked and betrayed by the heavy hitters because quantity rules over quality in their eyes.
microsoft points, dlc, pay to play, and virtual goods for real money.... its not about the games anymore, its about the money. period. and small game developers, people with fresh talent and new ideas are left unnoticed because they didnt have dinner with jon carmack or gabe newall... ..or some cockery such as, i dont know. im rambling at this point.
bottem line i know ill end up buying it anyways , being the consumer sheep that i am so ill guess well see. dunno about the preorder with the remote controlled car, id rather have some of those NVG's :P
has anyone checked out the new MoH? its pretty sick, a lot better then mw2 IMO.

I don't know why you had to insult Carmack... Romero would have been more appropriate. Carmack is on the bleeding edge of innovation.

Rambling though you may be, I agree with everything in this paragraph.kai wrote:microsoft points, dlc, pay to play, and virtual goods for real money.... its not about the games anymore, its about the money. period. and small game developers, people with fresh talent and new ideas are left unnoticed because they didnt have dinner with jon carmack or gabe newall... ..or some cockery such as, i dont know. im rambling at this point.
This, however, I very seriously doubt.kai wrote:has anyone checked out the new MoH? its pretty sick, a lot better then mw2 IMO.

Notch (creator of minecraft) has made about 5 and half million dollars off of Minecraft.
And you can't really say these people are doing a bad thing just because they want to make money, I'd understand if they were say, stealing ideas from others, but they aren't. The "heavy-hitters" that you mentioned are in fact companies, and the primary job of a company is to make money.
I'm honestly just tired of people saying things like "GAME COMPANYS R BAD THEY R RUINING TEH SPIRIT OF GAMES."

activision might as well stole the call of duty franchise from infinityward, shoving them out the door as they did.... without pay i might add for making modern warfare 2. and im sorry if paying 50-60 fucking dollars for a game im going to beat in LESS THEN A FUCKING DAY is highway robbery... AND THEN coming out with DLC to complete the void they left, for a fee of course. im not saying its wrong for a company to make money, so dont be silly and dont insult my intelligence. the way they are making money however is fucking wrong, and they know it.... and if your ok with paying that much for short, poorly done games and remakes then dont bother responding to me. as for me, i dont enjoy getting my wallet raped for over-hyped games that give me about a days gametime with no enthusiasm to replay the damn thing for any reason.
dark void? steaming pile of nauseating motion sickness CRAP that i would GIVE to anyone who wants my copy for FREE. AvP? fun but craptastic when compared to the AvP2 gameplay from the 90's. MW2? bugs, glitches, hackers, a nazi tight grip over the source code and empty promises. mass effect 2? never even got off the damn station in the first mission before i wished i was playing mass effect 1. blacksite area 51? shoot the guy who decided jump wasnt an important feature, and then HANG the asshole who decided to make the end as anticlimactic as possible. the force unleashed? half sold at release, the other half thru dlc.... thanks lucas! -_-
as for minecraft, good for them.... personally i really dont care about that game but thats just me.
ill buy black ops or wait till my roomie gets it for me for christmas (he owes me) and ill see if i like it, but can you really blame me for being a skeptic? you say your tired of hearing people say these things.
people. plural. large groups of the population.
meaning this is a legitimate issue in the gaming community, one that is MORE THEN LIKELY NOT going to change sadly. well, maybe it will and maybe it wont... i dont know...

MW2 is a steaming pile of shit. if you ever really played CoD4 FOR PC you would know this. this game can not stand on its short as hell singleplayer campaign and the multiplayer is plain fucking broken. MoH seems more realistic in about every way while maintaining fast paced action.... not to mention no matchmaking (PRAISE JESUS!!!!). leave that shit in consoles and keep it the HELL away from my pc...Heartattack wrote:This, however, I very seriously doubt.

First off, you forgot to put quotation marks around my name, that's why your quote is broken. I'm sure you just haven't noticed. Second, I agree, the campaign for MWII sucked balls. But that's not why I bought it. I'm a console gamer, just so you know (and yes I realize just how inferior my machine is), and the multiplayer was fun for me for at least 3 months, which is a lot more than usual for a FPS. In fact, I played just last weekend and it was still fun. And for me, that's what games are about. Fun. It's not a dick waving contest for who has better graphics or a more realistic physics engine. If it's fun, I'll give it its due time.kai wrote:MW2 is a steaming pile of shit. if you ever really played CoD4 FOR PC you would know this. this game can not stand on its short as hell singleplayer campaign and the multiplayer is plain fucking broken. see, thats the thing. im saying its just not fun to me. i care about gameplay more then graphics and mw2 was just broken as far as the MP goes, and i honestly dont have fun spending half my time playing while the other half is waiting on the matchmaking system, host change, dealing with hackers and unbalanced as hell game dynamics. if graphics was the only issue i cared about why the hell would i still be playing 2.5 dimension games like doom? no dude, the fun is the issue here. its the same damn thing every game, and i cant even play custom maps to change the pace up a little. hell, i have to shell out 15 bucks just to get some new maps (and ive caved and bought all the map packs on the 360.... didnt hold my interest still).
and i bought modern warfare 2 for both pc and 360 (yes, i do play consoles as much as i play pc), its just not fun for me on either platform :/
oh and yes i did notice, but i made that post at 5 in the morning so i literally crashed right after, going "fuck it, ill fix it when i wake up"

Well if that's the way you feel, than this is simply a difference of opinion, and I hate nothing more than arguing over opinions. I'm sure you /are/ aware, but just to cover all my bases, when dealing with repetition, you realize there are like 8 game types, right? It's not a lot, but it mixes up the way you need to play if you want to win. Like I said, I have no doubt you realize and just don't think it enough differentiation to hold your attention, which is understandable. The multiplayer is quite repetitive. But I still like it :Dkai wrote:no dude, the fun is the issue here.

Cod: MW2 didn't bring anything new to the FPS genre. That's the game's fault. If you got a lot of fun out of it, it's probably because you don't play very many FPS's.

Maybe MWII didn't bring anything new to the genre, but it did well, IMO, with what was already there. I don't have to be playing something new and inventive to have fun. Christ, I've been playing N for going on 6 years now.=w= wrote:Cod: MW2 didn't bring anything new to the FPS genre. That's the game's fault. Check out this site, it's all real and all BlOps. Somewhere in there is an article about customization and it mentions and shows a pic of face paint for your character. So this game will definitely be adding something to the Call of Duty franchise. Awesome customization.

thats another thing, you cant change ANY of the game type settings. sabotage is no fun with only one round...Heartattack wrote:I'm sure you /are/ aware, but just to cover all my bases, when dealing with repetition, you realize there are like 8 game types, right?

Cant wait. Been a long year since MW2 was released. I still love it, but I need some new material.

Super disappointing!
The game lags hardcore in multiplayer even when your ping is great, (and I am on a high end system) and the party play/ friends implementation is retardly impossibly difficult to do on the PC. It's also quite obviously a port.

To futher elaborate, it is surprising that you have no choice over which character you play in Zombies, and the campaign in many levels is almost impossible on the harder difficulties. I was playing one level near the start of the game, where you were required to cross a field filled with infinately spawning enemies, and a waypoint marker that was difficult to see, and delayed in appearing. Overall, the campaign is lacking, zombies is boring, multiplayer is buggy.=w= wrote:Super disappointing!

The only redeeming point of the game that I can see so far, is the first level, which has a very CoD4 feel to it, and also destroy a helicopter with a harpoon gun. That was cool.
Oh, and maybe the nuke vs. predator missile bit, too.

B-b-but--
New levels... new weapons... new drops... auto turret... Thundergun... new zombie type... JFK/Castro/Nixon/McNamara...
Of course the core mechanics are the same. If it ain't broke, don't fix it, right?
