I am interested to know. Frankly, I think they are 2 of the best people to ever make N maps... but who do you think is superior?

I'd also like to hear your reasoning.

Yahoozy has a better style but PALEMOON makes consistently better maps.

Yahoozy is better because I am Yahoozy. My alternate accounts will tell you the same thing.

Sorry, but I have to disagree.

Both makes really good levels and top quality maps, but the eeriness, arrogance, flamboyance and wit of PALEMOON's style makes his maps far more attractive to me. He also has a special esquire when creating silhouettes, structures or committed and weird scenes. But you know, that's a personal opinion and a personal taste.

Actually, there is no value that can objectively measure any artistic work, and this happens in every artistic medium, not only in N's mapmaking. Like the backdraft that techniques can be properly evaluated, or professional sports, or any other things in where there are specific and objective scores to measure the quality of the subject. Is something like trying to see who was better if Michael Jackson or Rolling Stones, both were geniuses, but they are different things. But you can objectively know who was better if Muhammad Ali or Mike Thyson, or to know who is better currently if EddyMataGallos or macrohenry, there are objective scores and 'objective' achievements to measure it.

Also I think that Yahoozy is a bit overrated and by the contrary PALEMOON a bit underrated.

So, the entire country of Spain votes for PALEMOON too.

What zoas said about PALEMOON is true, although Yahoozy can make more of a variety of maps, and his style can merge with unique and interesting concepts more than PALEMOON.

As always, I'm staying neutral. Both are great authors.

From my point of view, that's not entirely true. I can see a far greater experimentation in concepts by PALEMOON than by Yahoozy. Yahoozy's maps are extremely well planned, detailed, carefully-made and ultimately really refined and well built, but I feel he did not get to experience as much as PALEMOON, Yahoozy settled to a concrete map type, exploiting it and improving it to almost near perfection, obviously he experimented with many kind of maps, but having really contemplated PALEMOON's archive, I can say that he experimented much more, he innovated more with some little concepts, and even risked far more with unusual things or even stuff that could probably scratch the abstract and the purely conceptual. It is also true, that he step at some times when many of his maps might seem the same just changing the taste, but that's ultimately the mapping and the style, Yahoozy did it too.

EDIT: PALEMOON went through many different styles, all of them maintaining its personal atmosphere, but there was more variety in his career, from my point of view. As for Yahoozy maps, you can see two very solid types both of them classy, the popular and acclaimed 'full-use-of-the-level-area-and-really-lengthy' stuff and his more delicate, visual or highscoring maps, as I said really solid both. But the way as PALEMOON experimented and worked with trap-doors, locked doors, evolutive gameplays due concrete mechanics, the way he made his large and dense thesis in chaingun drones along all his career, as well with rockets, lasers, and finally with glitches stuff it is also remarkable. Not to mention the great collection of amazing tilesets in his archive.

Some people said in some ocassions that PALEMOON's average quality is feature-whorthy, and if you look deeply and cautiously his archive you can find that statement somewhat true. Perhaps same thing happens to Yahoozy.

Sorry if it seems that I'm in love with PALEMOON or I'm his representant, but I hope I'm being objetive because I'm trying for.

And yes, I'm love with PALEMOON although he does not comment in my maps. :P

Fuuuuuuuuuuu! That was a hard work!, doing all those links with images by hand.

Actually some of the Yahoozy's Featured Maps looks cooler than some PALEMOON's, but you need to play them to get a concrete and full thought and feeling on its essence. And this partly confirms what I said, which PALEMOON is an author somewhat unappreciated in relation to Hooz. There are hundreds and hundreds of maps to represent him much better and his committed and weird true style, and this proves that opinions on artistics aspects are quite subjective. I must take up the matter with those empty spots... :P

Anyway, enjoy this list, it was made for you! Yes, you! :P <3

Initially, I thought you were calling PALEMOON's maps bland by comparison... then I realised it was just a straight up feature comparison. I do think Yahoozy is more varied in style, but PALEMOON's prolific nature is nothing to scoff at. I think Yahoozy has really grown in maturity over the years, not just through his mapping style, but his personality on Numa/forums/IRC etc as well.

No no, it was just a pure chronological feature comparison list as you realised. In fact, you can read the words at bottom of the same post or even read all my other posts in this thread to know my opinion about the issue. Even I had featured already three PALEMOON's maps and none of Yahoozy.

I want to say also, that all my respects goes to Yahoozy, he's an outstanding mapper, one of the best ever, a great author to take as example if you want being somewhat good at mapmaking, and playing any of his maps is a complete honour. He's great, just that /personally/ PALEMOON is favourite to me.
