I'll make the packs for every NUMACON to this day quickly with NUMA hacking and I'll post them in a Forums Thread soon, don't worry about it bro! Also, I'll update the wikia's NUMACON list.

WINTERCON CRITIQUES
My apologies for the late results. We are only human, for now.

Aidiera's comments :::

http://www.nmaps.net/231311 === 3/5

Gameplay: Once I found a solid route it was quite fun. 3.5/5
Themefulness: That's a nice little elf you got there. It'd be a shame if something... happened to it. 3/5
Aesthetics: I found the oneways to be more of a hassle than helpful. 2.5/5

http://www.nmaps.net/231324 === 2.66/5

Gameplay: The gauss were fine, but the mine moon was very ugly. 2/5
Themefulness: It was wintry to me, but not the best you've got. 3/5
Aesthetics: I didn't play past the mines, but the beginning was good. 3/5

Aesthetics: Substantially boring. 1/5

Gameplay: I can't be assed to agd it or complete it. 0.5/5
Themefulness: I guess they're icicles...? 1/5
Aesthetics: The drones and the thwumps don't work together. 1/5

http://www.nmaps.net/231423 === 3/5

Gameplay: Confusing at first, but once I found the route it was great. I thought the drones were tacky though. 4/5
Themefulness: I guess the gold looks like snow, but just barely. 2/5
Aesthetics: The tiles needed some work, but the launchpads were smart. 3/5

http://www.nmaps.net/231434 === 3.16/5

Gameplay: One piece of gold pissed me off. I kept missing it. 3.5/5
Themefulness: The arms are the downside to this snowman. 2.5/5
Aesthetics: Besides those arms this looks very nice. 3.5/5

Aesthetics: I liked the mines a lot. 4/5

http://www.nmaps.net/231497 === 1/5

Gameplay: This is so unfun it hurts me. That gauss is entirely unnecessary. 0/5

http://www.nmaps.net/231553 === 3.5/5

Gameplay: A bit tricky in parts but overall worth it. Didn't like starting in the air. 3.5/5
Themefulness: Nice letterwork, and the star on the tree was a nice touch. 4/5
Aesthetics: I did not like the exit/switch placement, but not enough to mark you down. 3/5

http://www.nmaps.net/231558 === 2.66/5

Gameplay: I can appreciate the big jumps, but I wish that the pole gold was worth it. 2.5/5
Themefulness: Festivus is a wonderful time. Glad to have spent it with you. 3/5
Aesthetics: A bit bland, and repetitive. 2.5/5

http://www.nmaps.net/231555 === 3.66/5

Gameplay: I like being able to go either route. Good as per usual. 4/5
Themefulness: Wonderful tiles, but it felt very cramped. 3.5/5
Aesthetics: Big fan of the rockets, and the gold was well-placed. 3.5/5

http://www.nmaps.net/231570 === 1.66/5

Gameplay: This could have been fun if you had varied the layout. It's not fun as is. 1.5/5

P.S. Hell yeah, I can get people off their asses. :D

7. the gourd - mahi_mahi

pocketchange24641 - D34D_C4T
I like the aesthetic - even though it's supposed to be all over the place, it reminds me of a specific look, 2006. The gameplay is a little unique, but only a little rewarding. After the nicely challenging thwump section, everything else feels rote.
Gameplay: 2.5\\Look: 3.0\\Curious: 1.5\\Overall: 2.5

Ribbentrop-Molotov - blacklef
Looks absolutely great - just about everything looks, if not refined, then at least perfect. That said, it's wholly frustrating and unrewarding, and there isn't much strangeness to it.
Gameplay: 1.5\\Look: 4.0\\Curious: 1.5\\Overall: 2.0

Horny Nuke - blacklef
The E-lite look is pulled off better than it usually is, and the gameplay is somewhat interesting. Kind of boring, though.
Gameplay: 2.5\\Look: 2.5\\Curious: 3.0\\Overall: 2.5

VO586 - Onesevennine
Fantastic. Hard as hard balls, but still addictive until it's beaten. Looks brilliant too, although the gold isn't very graceful.
Gameplay: 4.0\\Look: 4.0\\Curious: 3.0\\Overall: 4.0

Who Keeps the Gatekeepers - Fraxtil
An interesting idea (if not necessarily rule-breaking), but wasn't executed well and wasn't much of a challenge for me. Even if the tiles are constrained by the gameplay, it can't be avoided that it looks like shit (although the thumbnail looks pretty cool).
Gameplay: 2.0\\Look: 1.0\\Curious: 1.5\\Overall: 1.5

the gourd - mahi_mahi
Charming little map. I wish the challenge was more substantial than the drones. Otherwise, very cool.
Gameplay: 3.5\\Look: 3.5\\Curious: 3.5\\Overall: 3.5

Tri Again - timothefreerunner
Neat idea. Frustrating at first, gets a bit more fun the more you play - although less difficulty would give the concept room to breathe. Conversely, the look is fun at first, a bit of an eyesore after about ten seconds.
Gameplay: 2.5\\Look: 3.0\\Curious: 4.0\\Overall: 3.0

Clockwisdom - Fraxtil
Not the first time I've seen this idea, and not really much fun. Looks great, though.
Gameplay: 1.5\\Look: 3.5\\Curious: 1.5\\Overall: 2.0

SN733 - Onesevennine
Surprisingly fun. Like, really fun. The way the rocket interacts with the upper right section was a great surprise and caught me off guard. It looks charming too!
Gameplay: 4.0\\Look: 3.5\\Curious: 4.0\\Overall: 4.0

DUNGEONMANIA - THE PREQUEL - the23
I hate corner-of-normal-doors jumpers, and this is no exception. They're just no fun. The mines do nothing for me too, although the tiles are decent.
Gameplay: 1.0\\Look: 2.0\\Curious: 2.0\\Overall: 1.5

That lone tombstone on surface of Moon - deep_blue

Not very interesting on all counts, but okay overall.
Gameplay: 2.5\\Look: 2.5\\Curious: 2.0\\Overall: 2.5

Score game - Ors_II
Reminds me of when I first got into the game and would fling myself into mines for shits. But, that's not much fun anymore.
Gameplay: 1.5\\Look: 1.0\\Curious: 1.5\\Overall: 1.5

2postmodern4u - Pixelwiz
This stinks, and I don't appreciate the flippant attitude towards postmodernism.
Gameplay: 1.0\\Look: 1.0\\Curious: 1.0\\Overall: 1.0

Big nonsense - jirka
I like the idea of randomness in mapping, so this map was cool theoretically. It doesn't play all that well or look any good, though.
Gameplay: 2.0\\Look: 1.5\\Curious: 3.5\\Overall: 2.5

Todays Heroes - _destiny^-
Door Eeries have a special place in my heart; it's the closest thing N has to kitsch (along with colour tile n-arts). That said, I didn't really get the challenge behind this map.
Gameplay: 2.5\\Look: 2.5\\Curious: 3.5\\Overall: 3.0

Dance for me, boy, DANCE! - tiki854
I like dumb maps, but this should be more fun than it is - just way too many enemies.
Gameplay: 1.0\\Look: 1.5\\Curious: 1.0\\Overall: 1.0

suoiruc - the23
Looks amazing! And, even though the gameplay is repetitive, it is rather fun. I wish the care put into the one-ways was put into the tiles, too.
Gameplay: 3.5\\Look: 4.0\\Curious: 3.5\\Overall: 3.5

Renaissance - macrohenry

A fine puzzle, but the possibility for a real devilish one is too tantalizing for me to really love this - there was room for great complexity. The block style works, though.
Gameplay: 3.0\\Look: 3.0\\Curious: 1.5\\Overall: 2.5

The Seer - anco
The lasers are a /little/ too much, which is a shame - this was really fun at times. The tiles are fun, too - they really trick the eye.
Gameplay: 3.0\\Look: 3.5\\Curious: 1.5\\Overall: 3.0

Frame'd - script
Not too much fun, but the border is really cool.
Gameplay: 2.0\\Look: 3.0\\Curious: 2.0\\Overall: 2.5

EV064 - Onesevennine
I adored this map. Looks absolutely brilliant - seriously. Incredibly fun and very interesting too - the normal doors were implemented perfectly.
Gameplay: 4.0\\Look: 4.5\\Curious: 4.0\\Overall: 4.5

indie as fuck - ska
Okay all around - the gameplay is blandly fun and the tiles are stock random style.
Gameplay: 2.5\\Look: 2.0\\Curious: 1.5\\Overall: 2.0

An Artist's Touch - tiki854
Cute! Reminds me of the '90s for some reason (winning solitaire, probably) and I like that. What a bouncy little map!
Gameplay: 3.5\\Look: 3.5\\Curious: 3.5\\Overall: 3.5

Guardian 22 - Fraxtil
The floorguard idea is pretty cool. The rest of the map doesn't really add to much, though.
Gameplay: 2.5\\Look: 1.5\\Curious: 1.5\\Overall: 2.0

Mr. George's Inexplicable Adventure - IodineEnvy
Looks great, but the difficulty is an inefficient overkill.
Gameplay: 2.0\\Look: 3.5\\Curious: 1.5\\Overall: 2.5

homicidal somnambulism - blacklef
Wholly Metanesque - simple, fun, charming, disposable.
Gameplay: 3.0\\Look: 2.5\\Curious: 1.5\\Overall: 2.5

Schizophrenic - timothefreerunner
Like the other image map, I like the concept but wish it was much easier.
Gameplay: 2.0\\Look: 2.5\\Curious: 4.0\\Overall: 2.5

ESCAPE MY GAZE - deep_blue
Kind of frustrating - the one-ways were irritating to get around.
Gameplay: 1.5\\Look: 2.5\\Curious: 2.0\\Overall: 2.0

The Red Button - albla
Surprisingly and disappointingly easy - the trapdoors were actually a bit of a bummer.
Gameplay: 1.5\\Look: 2.5\\Curious: 1.0\\Overall: 1.5

loving/gentle - Sunset

I don't see this suggested anywhere - I think it would be kinda cool if a future theme involves rarely seen NReality enemies, like greedy drones or alarm drones. I've only played a handful of greedy drone maps and they were done by people whose mapping skills were, well, lacking. It'd be interesting to see what more experienced mappers could do with them.

Rarely seen NReality enemies is a nice theme, but I'm thinking we could go general and have another TNCC.

233585 - pretty but 2hard4me
233591 - v hard, damn u ska
233602 - gold over mines is kool, but the floorguards were dull
233607 - rocket spam was not fun here
233601 - pure evil and could've been executed better
233611 - p standard as far as mapping goes but still fun
233616 - lasers are bad here
233619 - minejumper on the left, and a third as many floorguards
233615 - such a good z-snapped map
233637 - interesting level, much like defiance
233644 - i've never enjoyed spam this much
233666 - curious but boring to me
233676 - gameplay was very restrictive, some trapdoors would've been nice
233679 - why must yr maps be so hard :((((((
233684 - gorgeous map which should have had a laser
233699 - standard tw map, mildly curious
233704 - threw me for a loop, but it was clever
233706 - doesn't do it for me
233719 - ewww
233734 - welp, it's a map for sure
233735 - def not a fan of so many gauss, one would have been fine
233741 - the hidden enemies were v difficult
233747 - nope, not the type of map this contest was going for
233754 - "driving blind" is how i'd describe this map
233771 - the fault lies, not in our stars dear brutus, but in how confusing this map is
233793 - did anco make this map?
233811 - i do wish you had done something to make the real tiles more visible, but nice concept
233822 - exceedingly fun but still pretty normal
233828 - i /understand/ the concept, but not why it's worth making
233868 - hook me up with a copy of smoothcurve (dumb map)

pocketchange24641 - D34D_C4T
I like the aesthetic - even though it's supposed to be all over the place, it reminds me of a specific look, 2006. The gameplay is a little unique, but only a little rewarding. After the nicely challenging thwump section, everything else feels rote.
Gameplay: 2.5\\Look: 3.0\\Curious: 1.5\\Overall: 2.5

Ribbentrop-Molotov - blacklef
Looks absolutely great - just about everything looks, if not refined, then at least perfect. That said, it's wholly frustrating and unrewarding, and there isn't much strangeness to it.
Gameplay: 1.5\\Look: 4.0\\Curious: 1.5\\Overall: 2.0

Horny Nuke - blacklef
The E-lite look is pulled off better than it usually is, and the gameplay is somewhat interesting. Kind of boring, though.
Gameplay: 2.5\\Look: 2.5\\Curious: 3.0\\Overall: 2.5

VO586 - Onesevennine
Fantastic. Hard as hard balls, but still addictive until it's beaten. Looks brilliant too, although the gold isn't very graceful.
Gameplay: 4.0\\Look: 4.0\\Curious: 3.0\\Overall: 4.0

Who Keeps the Gatekeepers - Fraxtil
An interesting idea (if not necessarily rule-breaking), but wasn't executed well and wasn't much of a challenge for me. Even if the tiles are constrained by the gameplay, it can't be avoided that it looks like shit (although the thumbnail looks pretty cool).
Gameplay: 2.0\\Look: 1.0\\Curious: 1.5\\Overall: 1.5

the gourd - mahi_mahi
Charming little map. I wish the challenge was more substantial than the drones. Otherwise, very cool.
Gameplay: 3.5\\Look: 3.5\\Curious: 3.5\\Overall: 3.5

Tri Again - timothefreerunner
Neat idea. Frustrating at first, gets a bit more fun the more you play - although less difficulty would give the concept room to breathe. Conversely, the look is fun at first, a bit of an eyesore after about ten seconds.
Gameplay: 2.5\\Look: 3.0\\Curious: 4.0\\Overall: 3.0

Clockwisdom - Fraxtil
Not the first time I've seen this idea, and not really much fun. Looks great, though.
Gameplay: 1.5\\Look: 3.5\\Curious: 1.5\\Overall: 2.0

SN733 - Onesevennine
Surprisingly fun. Like, really fun. The way the rocket interacts with the upper right section was a great surprise and caught me off guard. It looks charming too!
Gameplay: 4.0\\Look: 3.5\\Curious: 4.0\\Overall: 4.0

DUNGEONMANIA - THE PREQUEL - the23
I hate corner-of-normal-doors jumpers, and this is no exception. They're just no fun. The mines do nothing for me too, although the tiles are decent.
Gameplay: 1.0\\Look: 2.0\\Curious: 2.0\\Overall: 1.5

That lone tombstone on surface of Moon - deep_blue

Not very interesting on all counts, but okay overall.
Gameplay: 2.5\\Look: 2.5\\Curious: 2.0\\Overall: 2.5

Score game - Ors_II
Reminds me of when I first got into the game and would fling myself into mines for shits. But, that's not much fun anymore.
Gameplay: 1.5\\Look: 1.0\\Curious: 1.5\\Overall: 1.5

2postmodern4u - Pixelwiz
This stinks, and I don't appreciate the flippant attitude towards postmodernism.
Gameplay: 1.0\\Look: 1.0\\Curious: 1.0\\Overall: 1.0

Big nonsense - jirka
I like the idea of randomness in mapping, so this map was cool theoretically. It doesn't play all that well or look any good, though.
Gameplay: 2.0\\Look: 1.5\\Curious: 3.5\\Overall: 2.5

Todays Heroes - _destiny^-
Door Eeries have a special place in my heart; it's the closest thing N has to kitsch (along with colour tile n-arts). That said, I didn't really get the challenge behind this map.
Gameplay: 2.5\\Look: 2.5\\Curious: 3.5\\Overall: 3.0

Dance for me, boy, DANCE! - tiki854
I like dumb maps, but this should be more fun than it is - just way too many enemies.
Gameplay: 1.0\\Look: 1.5\\Curious: 1.0\\Overall: 1.0

suoiruc - the23
Looks amazing! And, even though the gameplay is repetitive, it is rather fun. I wish the care put into the one-ways was put into the tiles, too.
Gameplay: 3.5\\Look: 4.0\\Curious: 3.5\\Overall: 3.5

Renaissance - macrohenry

A fine puzzle, but the possibility for a real devilish one is too tantalizing for me to really love this - there was room for great complexity. The block style works, though.
Gameplay: 3.0\\Look: 3.0\\Curious: 1.5\\Overall: 2.5

The Seer - anco
The lasers are a /little/ too much, which is a shame - this was really fun at times. The tiles are fun, too - they really trick the eye.
Gameplay: 3.0\\Look: 3.5\\Curious: 1.5\\Overall: 3.0

Frame'd - script
Not too much fun, but the border is really cool.
Gameplay: 2.0\\Look: 3.0\\Curious: 2.0\\Overall: 2.5

EV064 - Onesevennine
I adored this map. Looks absolutely brilliant - seriously. Incredibly fun and very interesting too - the normal doors were implemented perfectly.
Gameplay: 4.0\\Look: 4.5\\Curious: 4.0\\Overall: 4.5

indie as fuck - ska
Okay all around - the gameplay is blandly fun and the tiles are stock random style.
Gameplay: 2.5\\Look: 2.0\\Curious: 1.5\\Overall: 2.0

An Artist's Touch - tiki854
Cute! Reminds me of the '90s for some reason (winning solitaire, probably) and I like that. What a bouncy little map!
Gameplay: 3.5\\Look: 3.5\\Curious: 3.5\\Overall: 3.5

Guardian 22 - Fraxtil
The floorguard idea is pretty cool. The rest of the map doesn't really add to much, though.
Gameplay: 2.5\\Look: 1.5\\Curious: 1.5\\Overall: 2.0

Mr. George's Inexplicable Adventure - IodineEnvy
Looks great, but the difficulty is an inefficient overkill.
Gameplay: 2.0\\Look: 3.5\\Curious: 1.5\\Overall: 2.5

homicidal somnambulism - blacklef
Wholly Metanesque - simple, fun, charming, disposable.
Gameplay: 3.0\\Look: 2.5\\Curious: 1.5\\Overall: 2.5

Schizophrenic - timothefreerunner
Like the other image map, I like the concept but wish it was much easier.
Gameplay: 2.0\\Look: 2.5\\Curious: 4.0\\Overall: 2.5

ESCAPE MY GAZE - deep_blue
Kind of frustrating - the one-ways were irritating to get around.
Gameplay: 1.5\\Look: 2.5\\Curious: 2.0\\Overall: 2.0

The Red Button - albla
Surprisingly and disappointingly easy - the trapdoors were actually a bit of a bummer.
Gameplay: 1.5\\Look: 2.5\\Curious: 1.0\\Overall: 1.5

loving/gentle - Sunset
Completely trivial, the exact thing Curious should not be.

The next NUMACon will start in February, but I want to make sure it's a theme that everyone will like. I've added a poll, and if anyone has suggestions for other themes please share them below. Obviously knowing the themes early will give you time to make killer maps for the contest, but just remember that if you submit it before February it won't count. Questions and comments are a-okay too. Thank you all for participating. (PS, my play-through of the Less entries will be on twitch until the 19th if you're interested in a more in-depth analysis of your submission. But I wouldn't recommend watching. Check out DW40 instead.)

Wow! I feel really honoured to get to the top of your list and consequently 3rd on this NUMACON. Even more since you're a pretty critical and exquisite player and pleasing you is always a challenge. It is nice to me that was just that map I created with lot of artistic effort you liked because I made it conscientiously not only by making it minimal and 'less' but also making it conceptually less and thought about a concept that would fit properly the theme as it was the less gravity idea. So, thank you really much!

About the letting-that-the-community-choose-the-next-NUMACON-theme idea I think is great, I actually had a list of about 12 themes that I thought some time ago for something like a full year of NUMACONS, but I think I will reserve them and send to you personally via pm, because actually I really liked too much the idea for one of retiles of N maps themed and I already voted for it (but also because it is quite similar to one that I had in my list) and because I think this community is full of awesome re-tile makers as you, Wizard2, trance, ChrisE or the cool but almost forgotten (not forgot by me, though) IMPOSTERS mappack, and I also really like re-tilesetting as a cool and interesting mapping process, so I hope we'll go up with it. Anyway, I'll send to you my list of themes for future editions for you to choose, I think there are pretty interesting temes that were never used/proposed yet.

EDIT: In terms of the retiles of N maps theme, mapper participants may choose personally between the 500 maps from the original game? Or you will offer some concrete ones on which to work? Because I think it would be much, frankly much more interesting if there will be a proposed list of a small number of them, for example 5, and that the participants are forced to choose only between those and work with those (or with the consequent possibility to work with all the five) but that way we can will have more depth in mapping terms, and we'll see closely the differences on mapping styles, ideas and skills having a small number of them to compare between each other and to see how different each mapper approach the same maps. Having 500 of them that essence will be completely lost.

I would personally choose what I consider the "most retileable" maps, however many that will be.

It was a convenience thing for me. But I googled how to add prefixes to each line and now we're all good.

NUMACON idea: Transport of the Future

This could be all about innovating the way people move around the map. Instead of being able to reach everywhere by jumping, the map must make creative use of thwumps, launchpads, teleporters, gold-delay propulsion, normal door-jumps, etc. I think this could lead to some very interesting concepts and map designs.

Also I loved watching your stream recordings Aidiera :) - Do you know if there is any way I can stream my desktop via Nvidia Shadowplay?

Hey! That sounds like it would be lots of fun. Added to the poll.

Lulz. I'm a basic beyotch when it comes to streaming. If I can, I'll make an introduction to streaming with OBS, though I don't claim to be an expert. I guess you should at least try though. :)

Voted again for retiles of N levels because I really liked it and I think it would be a great NUMACON.
Althought that's a great idea for a NUMACON too, Destiny! Perhaps next month? It also would be cool and interesting.

Voted again for retiles of N levels because I really liked it and I think it would be a great NUMACON.

i love the retile idea and i love retiles and i want to see a bunch of cool retiles. and I think zoas's idea to restrict us to a list of a few maps would make it more interesting - but it ought to be more than five. i've tried, myself, to retile the same map over and over, and while you can get some good variety with a little effort and cleverness there is a definite limit to how much you can do with one set of objects - especially considering that most of the original game's levels are comparatively simple. i think we'd need at least 10 or 20 to make sure that no ideas are repeated

and "no moving enemies" doesn't sound like it would be particularly restrictive to me. it would only really limit use of zap drones - chainguns and lasers can often be used NaN'd and function much like they do normally, in most maps, since they move so slowly

Retiles it is. At some point in the near future I will narrow down what I think are the maps which would yield the best results, use Eeyore's program to remove the tiles, and upload them as a pack to packs.droni.es so that people will have an easy time choosing amongst them. BUT! All the other options are still valid and I would like you to vote for which one you would like to have after retiles. Once again, I'm sorry but the votes have been reset. :<

Also, new ideas for a NUMACon are welcome.

perhaps a "gauntlet" competition, i.e. long, linear, precise, difficult. hard to make those engaging and not just frustrating. last contest like that i remember was like 5 years ago and i lost to lord_day and i don't know why i remember that but i think it was a good contest

Part 1:

Well, having to choose another theme for another NUMACON a part from the retiles of N maps which is already choosen as you said, I will express my choice arguments: As 179 said, "no moving enemies" to me is far from being creative, 179 expressed properly it, that vast majority of the maps will works as a normal map could work, since the little uncreative shortage of the theme will bring uncreative maps too (imho), because in reality enemies that don't move provide little things to creativity and/or gameplays, it's a generic issue, and the competitor may be tempted to fall on the error of simply create another map again, heap'ish, like any other that he could create in any other random time, without trying to go further or focus on the theme, and just placing there an enemy or enemies that do not move (although it is true that could become interesting if people take it seriously and try to focus and build a cool concept around that idea) but I think I discard it.
On the other hand, I always not liked really much 4/8 tiles, I tried some maps obviously using them like any other author, but generally I don't feel really comfortable with them. Maybe it's because of my skills or by default, the inconsistency of such tiles when consistently performing jumps, either off of the 8-tiles (well fun at times) or specifically off of the 4-tiles, that's a thing which I think it works better on Nv2. Although I know that you like those kind of maps and maps using 4/8 tiles looks super cool and also could be really interesting but I discard this theme personally too.
Personally, Destiny's theme of ways of transport, ways to move around the map, sounds super interesting to me, the incentive to creativity is tangible and latent, and can certainly bring a good wave of innovative, conceptual maps, and if people are even trying hard, we could have different ways to play with this game. So, that's my choose, and I hope we can finally have it to try and see how much creative people could be.

I will post some suggested themes in my Part 2. :P Really little time now to write and describe them properly now, sorry.
