Here’s the Tmx url for those who want: http://tmnforever.tm-exchange.com/main.aspx?action=auto
I know that most of the things I say here are really difficult and take a lot of time to do but please read all. If we can do like 20% of what I say t would be incredible.
Demo system:
In Tmx, the replays (what we call 'demo') are uploaded direct on the site. So on the track page (very similar to a 'map page' on Numa) you can see the top 10 demos. I don't know if it's possible to "link" Numa and Nreality like that but with this linked demo system we can do that:
- A map will 'go up' on the hot maps page every times a demo is uploaded on it.
- The top 10 demos of the 3 modes (highscore / speedrun / underclocked) will be visible and accessible direct on the map page.
- A map win a tag called 'Classics' if it gets 20 demos in one of the 3 modes.
- You can win points by adding a good demo on a map and they will be a Leaderboards of all users.
Interraction system:
For the moment Numa just say when you've get new comments. I think it would be excellent if Numa say for example '5 Notifications'. If you click you will have the list of the new records, ratings and comments on your maps. Also the possibility to edit or delete comments, to see a list of the maps you’ve commented and rated. To send Pm to others peoples on Numa.
Best Maps system:
One of the things I really love in Tmx is the Best of the Week list. This is a list of the 10 most essential maps of the weeks. Obviously the concept is that if your map has got enough good ratings on hot maps page, it will appear on Best of the Week list and got a lot more rating and comment. Also Tmx has a Best of the Month and Best of All Time list based on the same concept. The advantage is to keep the activity on good maps after passing on the hot maps page. The Best of the Week list will be a tab just next the Hot maps page tab.
Metanet Maps:
It’s totally secondary but in Tmx all the basic tracks of the game are posted on the site, I propose to do the same thing on Numa. So you would be able to rate and comment all the Metanet levels. The Metanet Maps list will be a tab just next the Hot maps page tab.
Beta Area:
It’s another list like the hot maps page but with beta maps. People would be only able to comment the maps here and playtest the maps. There will be a button to direct send the beta map on the hot maps page when you think your map is ok.
So… tell me what you think it’s feasible, what you suggest and thanks for had read all my post.

This is just far too complicated and sort of unnecessary. We already have leaderboards for maps, both for NUMA (Nreality) and N (harveycartel.org). Both places offer 20 possible demos to be submitted for every map. What you're asking for is simply a tag saying that a certain map has reached a certain number of demos. Giving maps a separation based on how many demos they have seems silly and arbitrary. Just because a lot of people played your map and recorded it doesn't mean the map is good or deserves a special tag. Same thing goes with ratings, but that's another story all together.
Interaction System
Like, notifications on Facebook? I'd be supportive of that.
Best Maps system
Arachnid proposed something like this a while back to bring back a sort of Top Rated without all the hubbub and awfulness that happened on NUMA when we had an actual Top Rated system. Unfortunately I'd rather see dynamic updates to the Top Rated system than just a listing of 10 or more maps that were exceedingly special. We've proposed time-slotted Top Rated system, with choices for the last 8 hours, day, week, month, year and all time. Unfortunately we have nobody to code these damn things. :(
Metanet Maps
In a way I feel like the maps of N are best kept out of the rating system on NUMA. Plus, all you have to do is cheat in practice mode or complete the game to play every level. There is also the beauty of eeyore's N level data program somewhere on the old forums.
Beta Area
I don't see why you cannot disable ratings and then resubmit with slight changes if necessary and allow ratings.

Demo System
Point 1 - Post 0:0 several times, and your map will stay at the top for like, forever, like those annoying N-Arts.
Point 2 - No...
Point 3 - No.
Point 4 - Could be hard to deduce what a 'good demo' is. What if it's a suicide map?
Interaction System
Yes for editing and deleting comments.
Yes for getting a notification if someone rates.
No for sending PMs on NUMA. That's what the forums are for... Or you could direct the person you want to send a PM to to the forums.
Best Maps System
We have featured maps. That's 7 a week if everything works well. :P
Bring back Top-Rated! I missed looking at the bottom rated maps. :(
Metanet Maps
That's a good idea, but if you want opinions on maps, just create a thread. Then, you'll get opinions. Skyline did this on the old forums (but we only went up to the first column... :( link)
Beta Area
Yes, someone already covered this :3

If I well understand everybody say that the demo system is not a good idea and/or way to complicated. I think I finally agree with that but I just want to answer your posts :)
What I was meaning is a leaderboards for players, like a big ranking of all the Nreality account.Manus Australis wrote:We already have leaderboards for maps, both for NUMA (Nreality) and N (harveycartel.org)
Yes it don't mean the map is good, but a map with 20 demos is necessarily fun to play. Otherwise, the guy who posts the demos are a little stupid...Manus Australis wrote:Just because a lot of people played your map and recorded it doesn't mean the map is good or deserves a special tag.
By posting a demo i mean on nReality, this is impossible to post several times the same demo or post a 'suicide' demo.29403 wrote:Point 1 - Post 0:0 several times, and your map will stay at the top for like, forever, like those annoying N-Arts.

That’s what I was saying, I’ve just also proposed to create a ‘top rated of the week’ tab near hot maps tab. Last 8 hours is really too close of Hot maps, that would be a little useless I think. So thanks for your intelligent responses. I really think that we can add something to Numa. I can maybe bring one or two very good coders who can do this kind work. I also can create graphic stuff like icons, titles … Also don’t hesitate to propose some others ideas of new features that you would be seeing in Numa.

I fully support this idea. NUMA just feels kinda... lonely, without knowing someone has rated, or perhaps favourited one of your maps. The Black Lion wrote:Interraction system:

And with the comments. I hate it when I write something and it turns out sounding different to what I wanted it too, as 29403 said. And, who here hates it when you accidentally click 'submit' twice and two of the same comment pops up? Deleting those would make things easier... seriously, check out what happened when I had a comment chat with Geej on my mobile in the hills with bad reception: http://www.nmaps.net/190468
So yeah, I give this idea a thumbs up.

1. NUMA and Nreality will never be integrated with each other fully. We would need Unreality to make an entirely new map archive that was fully integrated with the Nreality server to allow 2 or 3 of these things to even happen. Most of your requests will never be fulfilled because the person behind Nreality and the person behind NUMA will never spend their free time to make this website work as you have suggested. The Black Lion wrote:Demo system:

2. Users shall not be allowed to edit or delete their own comments. Otherwise it could be extremely hard to police major scuffles on NUMA. Editing and deleting of comments is for moderator/admin use only so that they may hand out punishment where punishment is due. Otherwise we could have a bunch of claims that someone flamed them and never have any real proof.
3. My proposition for a time-slotted Top Rated system also means the removal of Hot Maps, which works how it is supposed to but does not work how it was intended to. Replacing Hot Maps will be Newest Maps (sorted by time/date submitted) and the "float" system will be replaced by time-slotted Top Rated.
4. Notifications for ratings are arbitrary and almost useless. Ratings themselves are almost arbitrary and useless. If you received 1 notification for each map that has been rated (x) number of times within the last 24 hours, you could receive many notifications. I, and I am sure others too, feel that notifications for comments, favourites, replies, etc. are more important.

So yeah, our community could totally use some unifying. It would be great and we would all love it. It's just a major pain in the neck to do, even if all the parties running the different things were available and interested in doing it (which they aren't).
I'm going to go learn Python now.

2. Arachnid has been extremely fickle in the past about passing NUMA off to just anybody, let alone someone like LV or sidke who could manage the site with ease.
These two things prevent community unification like no other.
