As everyone knows, the N 2.0 beta has gone through several iterations with the latest including a user-made column which was drafted by RandomDigits, flag, Sunset and Lord_Day and myself and being finalized by Mare & Raigan. This is of course great news, but I have some even better news! M+R are working on compiling a second column of user-made maps! So I thought I'd hold a little contest, but time is very limited!!! If you want to compete, all you have to do is submit and tag your maps with Contesque on numa. Please read the rules below, if you don't meet all these criteria, your map may not be shortlisted.

1) 5 map limit per person.
2) Maps may include ones you've already submitted (Remember to tag with Contesque).
3) Maps shouldn't exploit one-way glitches/have NAN'd objects etc.
4) Try and go for a Metanesque style for the greatest chance of being selected (other styles are acceptable)
5) We are looking for a range of difficulties, so don't worry about that so much.
6) There is currently no limit to the amount of maps that we'll select to shortlist, but if we do shortlist your map, I'll add it to this post so you can get a sense of what we're after.
7) I'm giving 48 hours from now, so get moving!

*Please note that shortlisted maps are in no sense guaranteed to be selected for 2.0 inclusions.

Shortlist so far from tagged maps:

Tagged a map of mine. Haven't done enough mapping to have any more I think would have any chance of being chosen.

Maybe this.
Or this.
Maybe this, without the images, of course
Or this collab with Be_Happy_:)
Here's a new one.

Edit
Changed one to http://www.nmaps.net/225518
Some of these are delisted, so you won't find them just by searching NUMA.

Simple contest and a fantastic idea to get people excited about n. Made global.

I am not sure any of my maps deserve to make it in since they are only simple challenges and don't make for great highscoring maps since they will be maxed quickly, but any chance for one of my maps to make it in I'll take.

Also side note. More than likely some of the best maps ever made will get posted in this thread. There should be a second contesque to see who can get a completion demo on the whole thread first.

Very True. They may not be. I had fears of that. I doubt any of my maps will be, but onward and upward. If they aren't, they aren't.

I know there is limit of 5 per person, but due to lack of activity, I thought to present one more round would not hurt.
Besides considering what I am presenting this second time.

I would like to have the opportunity with a couple of 3x3s, since this is actually quite an unique genre, and it would be interesting to see something like that in N 2.0 no? I'm choosing two, a couple that do not use any glitches or anything strange. But if you think there may be better examples, go ahead!

http://www.nmaps.net/223845
http://www.nmaps.net/221091

Also, I'm showing to a chance 3 Collabs Maps with deep_blue in my MOSS MapPack. I'l post here as maps due there are into the columns in the pack, even two of them have not yet been published, they are in the third column that is to come.

I think collabs are also quite a genre itself, and I'm posting them because them are not only from me, also because I think they are pretty neat, especially the first two, really simple appearance with good re-playability and highscore aspect, and I think they would fit really well with 2.0, please ska check them out!

Thank you! ;)

My five entries: http://www.nmaps.net/browse?q=contesque ... Aseneschal

One of these is a remake of an earlier map, so you may want to consider that...?

Also, I'd recommend getting flag to post a notice about this on NUMA, since there don't seem to be many replies so far. Moreover, it might be worth considering letting people comb through inactive authors' maps to find possible entries, since it would be a shame for so many viable maps to be ignored due to the absence of their authors from the community.

ska can i ask you if the actual user column is going to be changed? on the blog they said it's temporary, but are they going to remove a few maps or totally revamp all the column?

good job guys

here's my five cents. Couldn't really choose anything good since my maps generally aren't episodic at all, but oh well. Maybe I'll get in. :p

Hey guys, received another email from Mare earlier today saying that they've got a sufficient amount of maps to work with. I'd publish the authors of the 75 maps currently in the selection pool, but I don't want to dash people's hopes if they are not included in the final release. A few of the maps I sent to Mare were from this thread (only maps tagged before macrohenry's post, sorry, but we really worked hard and fast on this)

I picked about 50 maps or so from my personal numa favourites list of 678 total, about 20 or so from MOA accepted, various level packs, other hand-selected maps by flag, gloomp, RandomDigits, Sunset, lord_day and myself with maps ranging between 2005 to 2013.

Ultimately, Mare and Raigan will end up molding together the columns from our recommendations, and I'll keep you all updated as soon as more news comes to hand.

We hope you will appreciate the time and effort that was poured into this and trust that you'll enjoy the final result. A special thanks in advance to all the included authors and to all those that took the time to submit their maps to the Metanesque Contesque.

Cheers.
