The highscoring community are basically keeping these forums alive, and last year I didn't get enough nominations for Run of the Year. So if you folks would like to talk amongst yourselves and come up with the five nominations, that would be very helpful. And I am open to having three categories (highscore, speedrun, MDB/FBF) if you'd like. Remember that if you can check http://n.infunity.com and the run was submitted in 2014, it is eligible.

Thanks. I'd also like to suggest that FBF runs are eligible under the MBD category, if only to make up numbers.

Aaaaactually, all MBDs ever are eligible, since they haven't been honored. Cool?

huh? I think you misunderstood me... I just meant to say that any runs made with the assistance of slowdown or repetition, such as traditional FBF runs or underclock runs, should be eligible.

I don't see why not. They're all pretty much the same.

Good. Glad you've made it official. Just be clear to mention that all forms of non-realtime runs are acceptable. In fact, I would make the line something like this:

"Please nominate your three favourite non-realtime runs from 2014. Eligible runs include construction by means of frame by frame, underclock or manually built demos. If the run is submitted in underclock mode, please list the run creator and the episode/level ID. If the nomination is for a FBF or MBD run, please submit the demo in userlevels demo format, ensuring that you have correctly credited the creator and its corresponding map ID, if applicable".

I don't think you understand. In the 2013 Dronies, the only (well, vast majority) people who nominated demos were highscorers. So now, you don't need to send me your nominations, just post them here. And then we can collectively pick five for each category.

oh... but who exactly decides the shortlist without having a vote in and of itself?

Some real time 2014 runs I really liked.

Highscore:
96-0 Eddy's 0th
57-4 Eddy's 0th
17-1 Macro's 0th
78-3 Macro's 0th (I am not sure if his current 0th is actually the run that beat the drone cycle, but if not that run has been overwritten so give I give the nomination to this run.)
70-0 Macro's 0th (The dethroning of Clux's epic 0th)
51-3 JP's run (No longer 0th, but the complete route change is the reason for nomination)
78-4 Eddy's 0th
10-2 Macro's 0th (Basically executing Raif's ridiculously hard MBD route) (My Personal favorite of 2014)
53-4 Eddy's 0th (Basically maxing the map unless someone can get the extra gold or beat the drone.)

This is what I could think of rather quickly for the past year. I also want to look up a few episode 0ths that happened over the past year. I know Eddy had a few that were under 1 second off the TLS one or two of those certainly deserve a nomination.
<@Izzy> Holy balls, sweet run.
<@gloomp> Holy sweet, balls run.
<@Izzy> Sweet, balls run holy.
<@gloomp> Run sweet, balls holy.
<@Izzy> Sweet run, ballsy hole.
<@gloomp> All's sweet, holeb run.
<@Izzy> Ballsy nun, sweet mole.

I don't remember things so I decided to look through all the speedrun 0ths submitted in 2014, these are some out of the Metanet levels that I thought were impressive:
19-3, 27-1, 29-4, 43.3, 43-4, 55-3, 55-4, 57-2, 57-3, 59-4, 63-1, 74-1, 89-4, 97-3.
These are all 0ths. I won't bother listing all the runners' names here, you can see them on the leaderboard.

TheRealOne, 17-8? What level is that? :D

It's great to see that you appreciate my runs. :) I'm especially glad that you mention my 10-2, TRO, that run took me hours and hours of trying.

Only a few MBDs were made in 2014, but these two are my favourite ones:
1.) 95-2 by jp27ace

2.) 38-4 by jp27ace

Yeah, so, I am not sure what happened there. 78-3 is what I meant.

No I wasn't think that, but JP/Macro/Eddy all had some pretty nice runs on those two levels where cycles and half cycles were being beaten left and right. So certainly a nomination could come from that.

There is some great runs in there MiBeM, Kool's 55-3 and Macro's 89-4 are probably my favorites.

I don't think anybody has mentioned 93-4 hs yet. After playing that yesterday, it made me realize just how crazy the route that macro and Eddy use now. You have to be so clean just to get to the door switch, and I never made it past that point so I can only imagine what the rest of it is like.
[16:24] <@golfkid> I'm pretty sure I will literally scream if I die on the last column of 78-4 at this point
[16:25] <trance> Oh, yeah. That level.

I think we should open up the MBDs section to include 2013; I think this, mainly because you allowed this for map packs (based on lack of numbers from 2013, and I think you can say the same thing about 2013). There were a number of MBDs made before the end of 2013, and it's of my opinion that FBF/MBD/underclock runs from 2013 should be accepted. (Excluding the MBD-cum-DDA that Raid was nominated for in the 2013 Dronies.)

What do you guys think? Fair?

Considering this has never been a category before, I'd even see accepting all MBD's to be totally fair.

FILL ME OUT!!!!!

Hopefully it's understandable. I already filled out the submissions from a few of you. This spreadsheet, just like the nomination form, allows each user five votes, which you'll put in the BACKERS section. It should go without saying, but if you made the demo, you can't vote for it. Now, this is just the preliminary segment. I'm going to use this to choose the five maps which will go in each category (FBF, MBD, HS, SR). I was going to add all of the above, but I'm going to allow each of your to choose your five nominations. (You don't have to nominate anything, you can just back five runs currently added if you'd like.)

I've added 5 new MBDs (since I didn't back any non-realtime runs in my original submission [for obvious reasons])
I hope I've done that right; I wasn't extremely discriminating... I went in a loose reverse-chronological progression, although I didn't go through every 2013 MBD, so there are probably other crazy ones I've missed... I just found five that were really well executed, and I'm hoping others can add their own/back my choices. I must reiterate, I think going back further than 2013 will lose currency; besides, there were quite a number of 2013 MBD submissions, so I don't think it warrants a further extension. (Especially since 2012 and before was practically a one-horse race.)

You wax poetic much too much ska.

PS, I said each user gets five votes but forgot to add the "in each category" part. So yeah, 5 for HS, 5 for SR, and 5 for MBD/FBF.

I dunno if I could suggest my own runs, so I am gonna do it anyways. :p :p
These are my best speedruns that I succeeded in doing in 2014:
Improved routes: 19-4 (although Eddy improved it a bit.), 38-0, 114-3, 127-4, 143-2, 158-1, 159-1, 178-2.
Personal favs: 9-2, 16-0, 118-2, 122-1, 146-3, 166-2, 177-1, 185-2.
Other runs I am proud of: 94-4, 150-0, 156-3, 159-2, 189-2.

I am not asking you to add these runs to the nominations. I am just asking you all that if you like any of these runs, nominate them yourself. :)
I will add others' runs later.

156-3 is great. I have already put my 5 nominations in, but this should make the cut.
