We did those on irc few times. We only did columns 00 and 10 i think (maybe 20).
Not sure what our times on 00 were, I might try and see. Won't record though because my pc is too slow to handle video recording without n lagging.

You're DW40 on IRC right?

Here's the thread on the old forums which gained quite a lot of activity before it died in the forum move. (Not everyone's times are in the first post, so read the whole thing.)

Haven't watched it yet but 23:44 is a very impressive time, seeing as 30 minutes is usually enough to win a column 00 speeding contest on #n-highscores whenever we get the time to do it.

And instead of just doing a single column, why not extend the challenge further and speedrun the whole game? I did that once. Check my sig. :D

Yeah that's me. If someone could change my forum name to DW40 that'd be nice.

I tried looking for a thread like that. Pretty cool. I've added leaderboards at the top. Submissions for times are now open.

Thanks! It took 190 restarts to get that time. I think If I push it I can get a sub 23m

I saw that! It inspired me to start learning the columns. With loads of practice I reckon a 3h30m - 4h time is possible. Maybe one day.

Wasn't sure if I should bump this old topic or make a new one, but I wanted to post my column 00 run: http://www.twitch.tv/ffatv/c/3539773

It's a bit faster than the old records here. I'm hoping to get sub 19 soon too, and maybe even a deathless run.

Heeeeeeey! I just found your Twitch page. Streaming N is starting to gain traction, so pretty soon you'll have lots of competition. golfkid is the only one so far though. I'm bumping this so that golfkid & co. can post here. Do you have any tips on getting started streaming?

Streaming is actually really easy. Just get an account on twitch.tv, download Open Broadcast Software, and you're good. OBS is pretty intuitive to use, but if anyone has questions i'd be happy to answer them here or in IRC. Just get your stream key from twitch.tv/[username]/dashboard when you're logged in, put it in OBS, and everything is easy from there.

I decided to give column 0 a go without any preparation at all. I got 25:56 with 14 deaths. I only had 1 death until Ep 7 or 8, but unfortunately I completely messed up the last two episodes. :(

EDIT: Ok, my second try was more successful: 22:33 with 6 deaths.

Saw your first time before the edit, and was wondering how good an attempt when you've actually prepared some would be. Next stop: under 20 minutes :)

Now, after another try, I must say that sub-20 is very impressive. My run was relatively clean and I "only" died 4 times. Result: 21:52.

Also did column 1 in 18:07 with 3 deaths on my first try and without preparation.
EDIT: Tried column 1 again, did 16:18. :)

I was looking at the schedule for AGDQ 2015 and to my surprise saw that YetiRevolution will be running N there. Correct me if I'm wrong, but judging by the estimated time (25 minutes) I expect it to be just the 00 column. So that's a cool thing that's happening.

Well that's cool. Really cool actually. Wonder why he didn't post about it.

I've watched some of these in the past and it's really interesting to hear the runners talk about the game they know so well.
Is he going to be there in person on stream? It would be great if he could plug the game, talk about how we highscore individual levels, etc. Might bring some traffic/interest.

When he was in irc he said that he was excited to be approved for the list, a couple months ago. I dont think he really comes by the forums much at all, so if you don't frequent irc I guess there's not really a way for you to have heard about it. If I'm available, I plan on watching it and seeing how he does :)

Yeah, he's only speedrunning 00. But it's pretty exciting to see N on the ADGQ list, albeit a few years after the party.

He went for some pretty hard stuff. Considering the pressure, I'm really impressed. Would be cool to show some of the 0ths after the run, so that people would get an idea what a 'perfect' run looks like.

Damn, these people waste no time on splitting and uploading the vids.

Well done Yeti on the sub-20 run. I was going to see it live, but when I tuned at the supposed starting time according to the schedule, you were already in Ep9 o.O

Yes I agree. It unfortunate the nature of N. Single level highscoring or speedrunning is really not interesting unless you really know what is going on. Column speedrunning works well for this type of format. I think it would be even more interesting if they had done a 4 way race on the column. That would have given some context by comparison for the runs. I think that would be best for accessibility to non N community people.
<@Izzy> Holy balls, sweet run.
<@gloomp> Holy sweet, balls run.
<@Izzy> Sweet, balls run holy.
<@gloomp> Run sweet, balls holy.
<@Izzy> Sweet run, ballsy hole.
<@gloomp> All's sweet, holeb run.
<@Izzy> Ballsy nun, sweet mole.

Props to YetiRevolution for such a good run! I was laughing when someone wrote "Does this game ever get hard?" in the chat. He should probably play N himself before he says it's too easy. :P
