Fun story: I was feeling too tired to stream today, but decided to go for an attempt or two off stream anyway. I ended up getting a really solid run in which I was a minute ahead of my PB coming to episode 9 and got the exit switch on 9-1 first try. 9-2 also went by without any trouble. At this point I was laughing to myself at how I managed to pull off something like this while feeling so tired. I then proceeded to get killed several times on 9-3, including missing the exit once on the final drop, and get sniped by the gauss twice on 9-4, throwing away my entire lead and ending up with a final time exactly 0.5 seconds behind my PB. It was so hilariously stupid I'm not even mad. :D

nice attempt, mibem. There was certainly some schadenfreude going on with some of those deaths... 3-0 is a bitch...

Got a new PB with 18:48 today, however after the run I found that I was only streaming it and not recording, and on top of that I hadn't set Twitch to auto-archive my streams, so I have no video evidence this time. I'll be getting a better run soon, though :)

This just happened: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oCqmfRWAeGE
That's 17:51.08, which is 0.24 seconds faster than Eddy's run. In other words, HOLY SHIT WORLD RECORD WOOHOO xD

Edit: Looking at the runs side by side, the difference is probably made just by Eddy starting the timer slightly earlier. So whether that's legitimately a record is debatable, but I'm happy with the run nonetheless.

Nice run, I guess it's good this happened, because even though I said I was going to polish those mistakes I made in my run, I don't think I'd have ever done it if this hadn't happened, too lazy xD

I'll go for an improvement in the near future, the potential my current route set has is around 17:15 just by avoiding all 4 big mistakes I had (9-1, 8-3, 9-3, 8-2; in that order), without any further cleaning. So up to that point we have big room for plausible improvement. Around 17:10 is where I expect things to get really serious :P

I'm gonna be doing more runs as well. I suspect my limit will be met somewhere between 17:20 and 17:30, so I doubt I'll be able to beat you in the long run Eddy, but I'll definitely be trying!

So Ska asked me to do a column 70 run on my stream today and I got this run: http://www.twitch.tv/moletrooper/c/6163229
Crappy run, but technically it's a world record... I had a lot of fun and many people showed up so thanks for that :)

Turns out I was recording my break overlay for the whole stream (hotkey for scene switch didn't work for whatever reason, even though for the stream it did) so I don't have 720p footage to put up on Youtube. At least I had Twitch archive my broadcast this time.

Column 70 in 14:19. 2 dumb deaths, lots of smaller mistakes, but all in all an acceptable run.

Nice! I can see the time on this column going close to 12 minutes with some more risky routes, but that's quite a good run. Beats the crap out of my random blind run xD
Too bad you can't record better quality than this, it's frankly a bit of a pain for the eyes.

Is it possible to get higher quality screen capture next time? Pretty good run otherwise (apart from the deaths, of course.)

Generally yes. The problem is that N tends to lag more when I record in high quality. I hope I can find a solution as fast as possible.

Perhaps just record the 800 x 600 pixel grid without the clock. You could sync it up later...

Edit: btw, i liked the music!

The clock was edited in later as well as the times at the end of each episode. I guess I'll just have to try out some different settings. Btw, I'm not using a professional recording program, so that might be another reason for the problems.
Glad you liked the music. The first two songs are my favourite ones at the moment. :)

What are your specs? It's possible that you just don't have enough processing power. I can get full screen recording with high fps and 1080p, but I also have a quad core i7 that can handle it without compromising gameplay... This is what I used for the race I did a while ago against golf...

I don't know my specs right now and I'm too lazy to look them up. :D Anyway, it's weird. I just tried to record some more runs and suddenly it was possible to record 720p with nearly no lag at all.

that's weird... yeah, just make sure you set a window around the play field only; you don't want to use more resources than is necessary...

Just a heads up: If anyone wants to submit N for SGDQ, submissions are open at https://gamesdonequick.com/. I probably won't be able to make it to SGDQ, so I won't be submitting it myself.

I'm sure it would be awesome to take part in such an event, but sadly I'm a little too far away myself. I'll be watching for sure, and obviously it would be cool to see N played there, but I kind of doubt there's anyone other than Yeti who would/could do such a thing.

ANNOUNCEMENT:

There will be a full game run happening tomorrow (Wednesday) around 7pm GMT on twitch.tv/moletrooper! I've wanted to do this for a while but I've been lazy about it, and now is my last chance before I leave to do my part defending my country (in other words, serve in the Finnish army) for six months. During my service I won't be playing much if at all because I'll be far away from my beloved computer most of the time, but I won't abandon you guys completely; I'll be checking the forums regularly and popping up on irc from time to time. Anyway, the point is, come say hi and bye tomorrow and watch me hopefully not be very bad at N.

TL;DR: Full game run, Wednesday July 1st, 7pm GMT, twitch.tv/moletrooper, see you there
