Um, smort is, if I'm correct, going to university, so I'm guessing he'll be super busy. Meanwhile I'm working on other stuff until I get to the comics again.

@ ignate: Ah. (I don't know what else to say)

@ all: Still in Texas but I was prepared this time - Yay! - so I'm going to try and get back on the Two-Per-Week Express.

@ all: Well, since I failed at putting up any comics last week, I'm going to work extra hard to push these next few days.

@ ignate: Um... hopefully. Not if I keep up this production schedule :/

And, you wanna tell me what's up with your avatar? Besides that it's awesome?

@ all: And I got the second one in this week! *feels proud* Unless you're one of those jerks who thinks Sunday is at the beginning of the week. *feels proud anyway*

Also, as I briefly touched above, my buffer is extremely small. And since I'm assuming at least 50% of my audience isn't blind, you probably know that there will be cursive in the upcoming comics. I can read my own cursive. But I know that really doesn't mean a lot, so if there's anything anyone can't read, please don't keep it to yourself.

@ all: I'm not sure how to say this, but this is the moment we didn't realize we were waiting for. No more what-I-write ahead of what-you-read anymore; I have exactly zero comics in the started-not-posted state. While that's pretty cool in its own right, I should tell you what to expect as a reader.

It means that I will, much more often than before, come to post an apology instead of a comic, and the days of "Two Comics One Post" are over. Now since I didn't really do that much before (I think), it hopefully won't happen too much. In exchange for these messages that I foresee, I am making steps to keep a very tight one-post-per-week policy. That may not mean a comic every week, but I feel I need to keep you all in the loop as to what and why is going on, with the comic in particular but with other stuff as it arises also.

This is the beginning of something new for me, so bear with me while I get my instruments calibrated.

@ all: I still don't know exactly how regular this is going to be, but I'm happy to say that at least there will be something every so often :)

@ ignate: Really? I think I might have to start reading. As long as we're sharing webcomics we like, Gunnerkrigg Court.

@ pretzel: I have noticed your webcomic and like it but I don't want to say anything until I can really streamline my thoughts.

What I really like about this is that 220 comics later, you still going and still have a story to work with.
If I was wearing one, I'd tip my hat to you :)

Oh yes. Gunnerkrigg is great comic, been reading it for a good few months now.
Also Bluepretzel has a very good point. Nice to see you're still going strong all these years (in fact, all the way back from the old forums, if I recall) despite the slump in activity around the webcomic forum. Nicely done.

EDIT: Also that is SOME avatar Bluepretzel

@ all: Sorry about the delay. I (finally) found a room I can settle down in at lunch, so I'm going to try more seriously to get shit done.

EDIT: I agree with Ignate. Your avatar is awesome.

@ Ignate: This has reminded me that I'm woefully behind in reading pretty much -every- webcomic I like (except Questionable Content, which I intentionally read 150-200 at a time). I guess I just have somewhere to go with the comic. In April I had a pretty serious plan to phase out the comic, but I dunno. I've put a lot of work in and I think it would be kind of silly to lead it somewhere subpar, even with the slump.

Egh, I know I shouldn't talk about it here, but I feel bad about the declining interest. I mean, I know the drop happened long before I became mod but I feel responsible for not trying harder to work something out.

Well the slump may not be as bad as you think; I always read everyone's comics but rarely comment on them. I'm sure I'm not the only one who does that. Your audience is bigger then you know :)

@ all: In the interest of not stopping publishing altogether...

But seriously folks, these are exciting times for the comic. I have designated lunch every week on Mondays and scheduled some time on about half of the Wednesdays for working on the comic; so I think I'm actually going to be moving to a Thursday evening updating schedule. We'll see, but things are looking up.

@ Heart: Yep, me too. When I did this as a freshman it was easy to work on them in health and english, but now there's so much else going on that I knew I needed special time set apart for it.

@ all: Because what would a .sol of N schedule be if it wasn't violated as soon as it was created :/

I've noticed these are all a lot smaller recently than I normally do and I'm really sorry about that... but I'm still leery of posting more than one a week because it would be far too tight for the many little crises while drawing a comic.

@ all: I'd say I'm changing my updates to Friday if I wasn't afraid they'd end up going back to Saturday :/

In other news, I saw The Social Network. I always like to comment about nerds in movies because it's something I feel qualified to touch on. In my opinion, the actor was absolutely perfect. Now the role is an extremely computer-savvy nerd which is something I usually strenuously object to but since it's based on a true story you can't really screw with such a basic aspect. However, everything else from the complete loss of attention to the biting, petty sarcasm made me happy inside. If I could have changed one thing, I thought his obsessiveness to the company, while mentioned, wasn't highlighted enough. That's important because the attention-loss I talked about earlier stems from his total focus on certain ideas (now it wasn't all about facebook, which can be seen from the early movie, but it was the largest one) and not from some nebulous "nerd nature."

I'm not going to be in the city until Saturday, but I also don't have the comic done. So just a little heads up, if it all goes well then it'll be up Saturday. The official update days are still Thursdays.

@ all: Well, I didn't manage to finish it until Tuesday so I just decided to do a double feature today.

For any aspiring writers out there, I came across this series about worldbuilding. I've been reading my way through, and half the time I'm surprised by how much good I did without really thinking about it, and half of the time I'm embarrassed by how woeful my planning was. I'm going to be thinking pretty seriously about some of the stuff — although probably not as much as I should :)

Speaking of neglecting my duties...

Sorry I didn't have one this week. Last was obviously Thanksgiving and you probably had better things to do than read .sol of N, and now finals are --this-- close and my schedule is really screwy. So things will probably be irregular (read: standard) for a while, especially if Harvey Mudd doesn't accept my early application, because that's a whole other boatload of work I've been ignoring for several months :(

Still stagnantly checking. N seems like a nice enough guy.
Also, many thanks for the worldbuilding site. I'll definitely be checking it out.

@ all: Yeah, really excited about the Mudd admission. Can't even begin. Not even going to try :P

By the way, remind me to slap myself in the face the next time I think of using a straightedge for the comic. If all my panels were the same size, I guess. But... no. It just doesn't work.
