Holy bejesus, do you realize how amazing this is?

Nah, it wouldn't necessarily be xenocide - I'm guessing that stems from xenophobia, as in you kill them because they are different. The floorguards are slaughtering because the drones are dicks. Which is dickicide.

@all: I'm nicking Turiski's commentary system. Sorry Turiski, but I find it rather efficient.

Anyway, this will be the last comic for a bit. Holidays are over and I have to go back to school. When I get back, it'll be a new backstory arc.

New backstory comic, following the events of Nox Volcari. Also, don't ask about the title. I don't know.

First, I'm flattered.

Second, when you say "following," do you mean chronologically after? And by after, does that mean "after the comic ended" or "after all the events I had planned but didn't write down ended"?

And, of course, I'm excited about the new arc.

@Turiski: Oh, whoops. What I mean is this isn't after Nox, it will be according to the events in it. I meant 'follow' as in... well, the same story.
@all: People who have read Nox Volcari will find this to be a mildly entertaining reveal.

You think?

This is really great, but the <>s got me thinking. Can drone-robot understand what the ninjas are saying?

Waiting anxiously for #4.

@Turiski: Huh. I didn't really think of that. I'm sure it does. The language spoken is just overly foreign. The <>'s are translation filters, if you want to think of them that way.
Also, #4 won't be out in a bit. School and all, but no worries.

@Tunco: I wasn't sure which font you were talking about, but I'm assuming it's the green font and changed it accordingly.
@all: Got a little school holiday, so I can work on stuff a bit.
EDIT: Gah, forgot to add in the <>s, since they're not speaking English. I'll fix that soon.

Trying out something new to hopefully restore my interest in the project. Part 5 is presented in video form, where the pixel art may have been sacrificed (for now, I'm just experimenting so I put in a tad less effort) for the characters having voices (except for Myria, who is female, and would sound hilariously sad if I tried to voice her). See it here.

If responses (if any) are decently tolerant, I might continue this way, if I can just remember how the plot goes, GAH it's been so long.

First of all, I like the idea.

My only thing is, if you really wanted to make this work, it's going to be really tedious. I don't think any aspect of it will be hard per se, but there's just a lot of parts, because:

First you have to draw each individual panel - because if you drew them all at once you would either have a massive file and have to cut it later or you would lose tons of quality (which you can see clearly from Nox Volcari's art, among others... if you wanted that smooth texture that you got from the ninjas and the text you would need much bigger images)

Then you have to do voice recording. You already know you probably need a whole other person for Myria, and depending on your obsessive attachment to the quality you may need others or at least do some serious tampering with your own voice. If you do end up with more than one person you're going to have to do volume adjustments.

This is not to mention sound effects - they were pretty cool and didn't sound like they were too hard - although I wouldn't be surprised if in this simple example they took you the longest of any of the elements. But just think ahead a bit: I'm sure you're going to be having awesome action sequences at some point and you have to consider the sound effects for those will be really intensive.

Then you have to get the timing right. You might try to do it all in one shot so it sounds natural, but if you have any standalone effects (as opposed to ambient) you're going to have at least one spot that needs patching. More likely you'll have your voice people just speak a bunch of lines at once, perhaps with some context so they know the flavor of the conversation more than just the printed word. So the spacing between their speech would be a big consideration.

And this is another thing the length. The content of this video was under 100 seconds (94), the pacing of Nox's speech was a little off, you had some of the sound effect's "leftovers" to donate time, and while I understand what you were doing with Cynus it should have gone a wee bit faster. With spit and polish it probably should be a little over 80 seconds. Now I have no idea how much time you spent on this, but given my limited experience with video software, I'm guessing that even 100 seconds makes you feel a bit cheated, and what I'm saying is to do it halfway right you will be spending more time and it will be shorter. People expect a video to take a lot longer to enjoy than a strip or even a comic page. That's not to say you have to give that to us, because trust me it's pretty cool regardless of how long it is, but I feel that audience expectation will slowly push you over that 2.5 minute range, and you can imagine that kind of production time.

Now, I know this came across as a bit negative, and I'm sorry for that. If this is something you can do, would like to do, and have the time for, then yes it pretty much wins internets. I just want you to be careful because COMMET is already such an ambitious project and I'd hate for it to fall into inactivity because you can't overcome the inertia of getting the next video started.

Very insightful comment, thank you. Though in all honesty this was sort of a spur of the moment thing, but I'll keep your words in mind once I get the initiative. Thanks.
