Why didn't anyone think of this before?

This is amazing. I'm looking into making Opera 10 my primary browser, in fact.

I'm still actually trying to figure out what's this is all about, but I know I can expect best from the most inovative web browser's development team.

Opera FTW!

I love the idea, but uptime is going to be a serious concern.

Go there to see bunches of Opera Unite servers, and you'll see that 85-95% of them are turned off or unresponsive.

This is another case of 'I'm intrigued, but I want to see this shit work before I proclaim it as an internet revolution'

I'me very skeptical about the value of this. I feel like web serving should be left to dedicated machines run by professionals, not general users. There are definite security (for the user) and network topography (for the ISP) concerns.

I concur. Attacks through a web server are some of the most common out there, and opening up that hole for everyone sorta seems like a catastrophe waiting to happen. Just wait 'til they find out the hard way that there's some wacky vulnerability that a dozen people already took advantage of to make Opera-only botnets. It'll be great.

It has potential, but I'll wait and see how it turns out before I try it.
