My iPod earbuds have gone missing, but they were pretty broken anyway. So I'm using this as an opportunity for a change.
So I'm wondering if any of you guys have any suggestions as to brands/models/whatevers for headphones. Preferably earbuds, since it's an iPod and needs to be a bit portable, but anything will do, really.

This kind of thread has so been done to death.
The sensible consensus (i.e. my suggestion) was Skullcandy Smokin' Buds (I linked you to the white ones to keep the probable theme of your iPod).

I use cheap $10 Sony earphones. They are the MDR-E818 Model. Pretty good bass through them. Not too bad. Haven't tried any skullcandy ear buds, however have tried some $60 phillips ear buds that had amazing bass, but could not fit into my ear ... So .. yeah. Go Sony earphones or skullcandy ear buds :P

I've been looking for some stylish high quality headphones for a Christmas gift request. I looked at Skullcandy initially, but found that they generally were too busy and cheap looking. I eventually found Nixon, which may not have the best quality, but are damn fine looking.

I really like the Master Blaster ones. The best color is Gunmetal / white. *Christmas wink*rocket_thumped wrote:I've been looking for some stylish high quality headphones for a Christmas gift request. I like the red and gold for Master Blaster. But I think I might get the Nomadics in either gunmetal and white or white and chrome/metalic.Heartattack wrote:I really like the Master Blaster ones. While we're talking about how stylish our current headphones are, I should take the opportunity to show mine off.
The Motorola S305. Incredibly stylish, with bluetooth and great sound quality. Come to think of it, spoon, depending on what generation iPod you have, you might want to get these. They're only $80 and they work great with the iTouch and iPhone.

Wasn't there some study posted earlier in this forum's history about super-expensive audio devices, and how past a certain point you're paying for magic?smartalco wrote:If you want to blow a giant pile of money you could go with Klipsch

Okay, I've tried most all of the earbuds mentioned above and I didn't like any of them (only buds I haven't tried were RT's). Skullcandy is initially appealing, but after you buy them it becomes apparent that the majority of your payment went towards marketing. They are quite comfortable (although I could never get it to fit with any of the sizes in my right ear O.o), but the sound quality is average at best. I ride a bus for about 2 hours a day so I hunt around a lot. I have finally arrived at these: http://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs/sto ... MDR-EX56LP
If you're on eBay: http://cgi.ebay.com/Sony-MDR-EX56LP-Hyb ... 406wt_1139 (I bought mine from this guy and they work fine).
The sound quality in these is the best I've ever heard from buds. They fit perfectly and isolate sound very well. There is a risk associated with this purchase though. Very often, headphones lose sound to one or even both of the ears. This is caused be the soldering connecting the wires to the speakers in the bud giving out from use (pulling the bud out of your ear with the cord, wrapping it around your ipod/mp3 player too tightly, etc.). Sony buds are known to be liable to lose an ear, as are most others. I've never personally broken a Skullcandy earbud, but I've heard of a few people that have. This appears to be a safer purchase in the respect of break-age, if this is important to you (which is should be). I bought a pair of these buds 2 months ago and they are working strong. The sound is clear and no signs of wear. If you're looking for buds to casually wear, go with Skullcandy. If you're looking for buds that sound fantastic and are very comfortable, choose these (but understand you'll have to take care of them).
For 15 dollars (the eBay price), I'm extremely happy with these.

Hm. I guess I'll have to look into those.
I spent a little bit of time a few years ago shopping around for headphones, and my Skullcandy Smokin' Buds were the best quality I found. Then again, I'm not exactly an audiophile, and I may not have covered the same ground you have.

I second those buds. I got very similar ones through my Sony mp3 player, and they do sound great. One of my buds is starting to sound like it's losing power and was looking into replacing those buds. But that's after around a year. Maybe if you like them a lot and they are entirely dead in one year, you can try to fix that, since there would be nothing to lose. Still, go for those for great sound.Blackson wrote:Okay, I've tried most all of the earbuds mentioned above and I didn't like any of them (only buds I haven't tried were RT's). Thank you for all of the replies, guys. They're really helpful.
Suki: I have a couple friends who have those Smokin' Buds, and they say that after listening to them for around 5 or so hours, they start to get uncomfortable. I'm just wondering what you're experience with that is, since I've gone days without ever removing my headphones from my ears. They are pretty sexy, though.
Blackson: Wow, those seem really great. From the reviews I've read about them, though, they don't seem to be very durable. I guess you just take awesome care of your shit or something :P. But one thing that really bugs me is the 48 inch cord. Seriously, four feet? That just seems a bit excessive.
Donfuy: I think I might just ditch the concept of speakers entirely and getting those.
And sorry for the lack of... Posting. I've been grounded these past couple of days. So yeah.
EDIT: Oh, didn't see mediate's post there. I think I might buy those ones now.

How does something start to hurt at the five hour mark? That is ludicrous.

After around seven-ish hours of nonstop headphone using, my earbuds will start to make my ears uncomfortable. So I can understand that. I've actually gotten blisters in my ears from using them too much.=w= wrote:ℛeginald ℙoon wrote:Thank you for all of the replies, guys. They're really helpful.

I can't say that I've ever spent anything close to that amount of time wearing the things contiguously, so I don't have much to tell ya.ℛeginald ℙoon wrote:Suki: I have a couple friends who have those Smokin' Buds, and they say that after listening to them for around 5 or so hours, they start to get uncomfortable. I have, however, worn my over-the-ear(-and-behind-the-neck) headset for unreasonably long periods of time, and that only gets uncomfortable because the outer band starts cutting into the outside of my ear.
