Is there a difference between Apple's Flash Storage and SSD?

Talk about computers, hardware, applications, and consumer electronics.

I'm trying to decide between a MacBook Air and a MacBook Pro (both 13-inch), but I can't until I get this question answered. The only difference between the two laptops is the processors. MacBook Pro 13-inch has 2.5GHz, turbo boost to 3.1GHz, and the MacBook Air has 1.8GHz, turbo boost to 2.8GHz. If I absolutely had to choose, I'd pick the Pro because of the faster processor and optical drive, but I don't know whether the 128GB Solid State Drive in the Pro will perform as well as 128GB of Apple's "Flash Storage" in the Air.

Please help me, guys.

We have a technology forum and no one's posted in it since July so it could use a self-indulgent blow job like this.

I'd imagine those drives are exactly the same. The Pro certainly isn't going to underperform the Air.

I just want some proof. I wish I could test it somehow.

They must be at least the same, man. The solid state drive uses flash storage. The flash storage is a solid state drive. The MacBook Pro is the performance MacBook. It isn't going to be worse than the Air.

There are the read/write speeds for the Macbook Air SSD. It's a fairly average speed. New Macbook Pros support SATA3 which means you could get an aftermarket drive that is faster than the weird blade storage in the Air.

I ended up deciding on the Macbook Pro. More cost-effective for the performance value. Thanx, guise. <3
