Well, you don't, that's what bans are made for. O_o

If you really need to know then I suggest sending a PM or something to the person that banned you to try and work things out. Bans are usually on a timer and never usually set for that long, though it obviously depends on what you did. I say just wait for your ban to expire, unless it's a permanent ban, in which case you probably don't belong in there anyway.

Vent is usually pretty quiet. It's a case of just having it open in the background and being patient to wait for someone to come and join you in there. I find it is the most busy late at night.

Your particular ban has expired, isaacx. Feel free to rejoin the server whenever you'd like but, please, try to keep your signal to noise ratio out of the toilet. I appreciate that you may be young and excited but you don't need to ask if there is anyone present in the channel if nobody is speaking. You should also consider using a search engine (like Google) or just to continue reading what people type if you don't understand what is currently being talked about. You should also not pretend to be stupider than you actually are. Being stupid isn't funny and pretending to be stupid gets you banned.

If you follow general netiquette as well as the rules for the IRC that have already been posted in this thread, you will have a much better time of everything and people may actually enjoy having you around. Heck, it worked for kkstrong.

I've updated the server info in my Mibbit widget. Repost for bump.

Easiest way to connect:

1. Click here. It's my personal site with an embedded Mibbit chatbox.
2. Enter you username. Password is only necessary if you have registered your nick and want to be identified automatically.
3. Hit Enter on your keyboard.

It was, but decidedly, the Ventrilo crowd is moving further and further away from the community, to the point where it's hardly a Metanet Ventrilo, and more of a space for old fogies who have little or nothing to do with the community anymore.

Is that a valid reason to remove the info? 'Til this point, Vent's been a place where a certain crowd would always be present regardless of how close they were to the community at any point, and any other member of the community was welcome to hang around even if it was almost inevitable that they wouldn't show up again.

Unless you're running out of space on the server (or it's resulting in some other extra cost to you), I don't see why you should deny others the opportunity to get more connected with the community. Even if you insist that you're, uh, no longer the community.

Truth be told, folk were coming on who had very little or nothing to do with the community. If anybody from around here wants to come on, they can ask anybody else from the community. Having the information in a public place means that people would come on, go to their own room, and play UT2k4. And that is not my intention for the server.

PM it to people who seem dedicated to being part of the community with it. *shrug*

It would seem like a secret place. Cool.

Just connect using mibbit.com. It's what Tanner's site was using.

Even a very little contribution to the community is a good, or being in the community, why do you don't want it? :/

Tunco123: Please edit the ventrilo information out of your post. Because you are too fucking dense, I will explain this again: People were coming on Ventrilo who are not members of Metanet who just got the IP from here and were using it for their own conversations. This is not their business.

I don't see it. Why don't you/some kick/IP Ban/Ban them from our vert server?

If you can't, just make a password for the Vent server and announce it in IRC and PM to everyone in here, that should do. With a lot of work.

Also Slappy, edit your post, I can still see my quote and Vent info there even I edited my post and removed the info.

Except that that is the equivalent of what we have now. Everybody should know by now that there is a Ventrilo server; ask anybody for deets and they'll give them to you.

I can ban people, yes, but it's longer than just not having them!

ANYWAY.

In case anyone didn't know, if AleX's server were to fail for any reason, the backup IRC server we've been "borrowing" space on is irc.starfusion.org. When waypasteleven failed during Insomnicon '09 (except for XChat users O_o), we quickly relocated everyone to there.

The address is irc.starfusion.org:6663 and channels - well, duh, they'd be the same.

edit: Fixed port
