Okay this is the first step of hopefully making lots of games so that we can get better at it.

The idea in rough is that we are to make a basic two dimensional game to story discussed in this thread.

The setting of the game is a continent of a world that will be the stage of a few of the games and will have stron ties to the main project when it will be started. But focusing on the game at hand. The continent has an usually high level of magic which seams to saturate the land itself this has made magic simple and common place this is not some recent event as it has been this way for the past few thousand years. Here monsters are common and ferocious the amount of magic energy being the main factor to how powerful they are.

A small country well known for it's beauty and negtiation skills is the opening stage and the main character is a young man called Nerain who is a captain in this countries military... and for now that is the story so far the purpose of this thread is to help develop it and make the story.

Let's begin, then. I don't agree he should be in the military, though (not until the end).

"Navigators have crossed many oceans in their days, but have never come across in their searches a huge land. Even back in time, when Christopher Columbus traveled to America, when the Vikings made it to America, this land was never found. The size of a continent, they say, far beyond land and sea, but never seen to human eyes. This was the land of Reclasidan, the land which disproves all known science and logic to man, the fact that magic actually exists. Only a very select few have the 'gift' to see such a magnificent land, cloaked by it's own magic (rendering it invisible). A lad named Nerain, born in London, used to brag and say all about this land, people thinking he was either insane or a liar. He grew up to be a wonderful navigator, sailing the seven seas, until he stumbled upon this land. Now, during these times, when the Earth was growing and formulating, the land already had a ruler, placed upon him to kill off newcomers from this land to prevent the magic from being harvested. This is Nerain's story."

Any suggestions?

Love the post. Earth however is involved deeply with the overall plot and so unfotunately I am reluctant for him to be from Londen.

Magic on the continent that you said is very easy to get hold but it is avaible in the rest of the world.

This story is just focusing on this one continent.

Now the boundaries have been set a foreigner in a new land what sort of level tecnology should it be?

And what is the current situation of this continent?

The technology in the continent should be highly advanced yet simplistic. The current situation is Circa 1597, undergoing a rumor about a revolution and high controversy.

That doesn't really work out with how the continent is, the continent is roughly the size of North America and has a much stronger magical presence than the rest of the world. So great even that you can't get very far towards the centre. From the edges of the continent to 200 miles in is habital but from there on it gets harder and harder to survive as the magical energies are more and more condensed causing more powerful mutations to the world around it (Yes mutations to the world not just plants/creatures, this is where the most powerful equipment comes from). After about 225 miles in the energies are so wild and rampant building any sizeable encampment is impossible due to magic storms and whatnot mutating pretty much everything. But also due to the large amount of magic ores and whatnot got from there are so much better than anything from the edge and all seems to have slightly difference properties depending on the area. There is more than one country on this continent though.

So yeah I'm working out the world while FireDevil does the character story.

Can it still be invisible? It'd be nice for it to be invisible, only seen through the protagonist's (and/or the villians) eye.

Um... It's fairly heavily populated in the safe zone and has multiple countries. Yeah it's not invisible.

One thing to keep in mind, this continent is one of many in this world and this world takes host to multiple games.

We're planning on 3-4, the first 2-3 will be single gameplay mechanics and a story (For example the first one is getting a good fun RPG mechanic and the Second is getting a warfare mechanic). Once all the first games are complete we'll begin work on "Singularity" the first in a series of games which includes gameplay from the previous games. Or at least that's the plan.

For now Lumina we will focus on the task at hand making the first story of the dimensional games group.

Now let me do my thing...

The times are changing two years ago a time changing event took place as a band of deperadoes set up a small refinement camp dangeruosly near the centre of the continent and they started using the ore there to make equipment. In the following year they had many deaths and heartbreak but amongst the chaos there was some hope as they found a reliable way to gather and refine s magical crystal that offered incredible energy meanin they had found a new power source. A year after the discovery the continent is now in a turbulent period as the full ripples of this information can be felt and the possibilities feel almost endless.

Hearing that right is a good time to go there and make a name for himself a young sells everything he owns and leaves his old life behind. Joining the world wide Adventurers he gains a permit and sales over the sea to seek out his own opporunities be they ill or good.

Sounds good. Write a basic story of what happens with nothing too in depth for it and we'll work from there on it. We also need to get the gameplay mechanic sorted on this.

With one of the jobs of the guild, he ends up in the magical continent by accident, leaving him trapped until he can find a way to escape.

Not too sure what's going on here but RL discussions established this.

Not many people in the village like him due to his grandfather having a group called the mystic knights who went bad and did what they wanted, his father tried to revive them and got in a lot of trouble for it. The original purpose of the group is to fight some lizard men things which are extremely strong and numerous. You revive the group under a different name.

Also the story will take place accross 5 chapters.

You both have some of the facts mixed up but as we go along I will clear them up but in order for me to remain motivated PLEASE keep putting in your two pennies.

----------------------------------------------------------
The scene is of a busy port town which in the time of a massive upheavel many have come flooding and the town has swelled supplies are a plenty due to its location and many people have come herre fortune seeking. The latest ship the espado is about to arrive and with is carried a young man who seeks to make his fortune in this place.

The man arrives in town and bids the captain a fondfarewell as he goes to get the paper work from the guild that will allow him to travel into the continent and to accept guild quests. The town is slowly turning into a city but as much as it is hitting properity the young man can see the underworld moving in aswell sinking it teeth with threats and violence. The man enters the guild hall and is given his year work visa and a key to a room at a nearby loadgin house.

He is told that as soon as he dropped of his stuff there is an urgent request that someone with his particular keen balde arm will be able to help with. As he returns from his room he is given a quest...

Hmmmmm the flow has stopped... help anyone.

That's actually pretty good, and I like it. Now how about this, after the quest is given, the main character (I've only read the last post, so..yeah) starts to notice changes in the civilians within the city. At first, only small things are noticeable, or, everyone seems more aggressive than usual. Soon, everyone starts to transform both physically and mentally into demons of some sort (not quite sure what's be appropriate.). Soon, the main character finds the source of the power.. and that's all I've got..
