NReality and Nv2

Hi guys,

So I recently downloaded nreality because I was told by getpucht that 7.2 had fixed lag issues. The game doesnt lag like it used to, but it is still choppy.
Can those of you who play nreality more often play this level http://www.thewayoftheninja.org/nv2.html?l=159499 (search 1400 in search box of nv2). Does your nreality run this smoothly? Is mine lagging, or is the choppyness a result of the different frame rates, and the fact that I'm used to 60 makes the drop is noticeable/problematic?

Nreality is currently not too bad, I could get used to it, but I want to know if what I'm experiencing when I play is different to what you guys are.

Summary:
Play my motherlode nv2 upload. After trying it, tell me honestly if nv2 runs smoother or less smooth or the same.

Much appreciated

PS. If you try it, give the highscore a go, Id be interested in seeing how you guys can adapt to nv2 physics. For this level, the replays are faster (you seem to retain more speed on the slopes before the key in nv2). Time in 40FPS; 5400-4891=509 => 509*(40fps/60fps)=339 vs Kools 345 nreality run. Thats just game physics related, I'm not saying my nv2 run is more impressive, I just thought the math was interesting. (I dont think its wrong, but if it is, I actually want to be corrected).

This makes me sound like a twat, I'm not an elitist, I don't know how to get rid of that tone yet still ask this question.

It doesn't make you sound like a twat. Indeed, v2.0 has different physics so it's hard to compare times, and in particular you not only preserve but gain a lot of speed/momentum in slopes compared to v1.4, it's pretty stunning, I remember ska making a video about this, although in curved slopes this is even more noticeable. As a matter of fact, I just took 2 mins to clean a frame and around 5-6 more to clean 5 frames more, and it's still far from my NReality run quality, not to mention Kool's 0th run.

In this case in particular, you can see it's all in the triple slope before the switch, which gives you one hell of a boost compared to v1.4 (I just saw some runs in NReality after playing in v2.0, and man the slope part is just really slow in comparison, but you can't do anything to avoid that).

Of course, you'll always feel more smoothness in v2.0, because it runs at a 50% higher frame-rate. So regarding NReality (or v1.4 in general), I would say it's not choppiness but rather lower framerate, but believe me you'll get used to it pretty quickly you just have to keep playing and try to forget it, it'll be like a matter of a couple days until you forget about it.

Although I'm nobody to talk about this because I still use Windows XP, which is well known for running N smoothly as fuck (without lag, but it's still 40 fps xD). NReality had strong lag issues with Vista/7/8, and I don't know if sidke's new version has fixed them completely or not, so I can't really tell here.

Can some NReality experienced played now using sidke's version confirm whether the lag is fully gone or not? It has to be a v1.4 player so he knows the usual NReality framerate. I did play with Win7 3 years ago though, there was some lag, but with the classic fixes it was bearable and got used to it.

I don't know if I count as a v1.4 player but nreality doesn't lag for me.
I used to play the old versions which definitely did, but the new one is pretty good for Windows 8 (don't know about 7)
The 40fps continues to be a little weird and there are physics tricks I don't think I'll ever get used to, but they don't stop the ability to play the game.
Cooper it's hard to tell if you are experiencing lag based on your description - I don't think you are.
If need be you could take a video of your screen with your phone or w/e. Screen capturers usually don't portray the fps accurately so a phone video would serve you better.

So in configuration I have changed image quality to med. The lag has been reduced further. Maybe the fact that nreality is a larger game and my laptop is a bit shitty added a bit of lag to the game.

You can also try doing the rest of the classic fixes (pic by Raif):

I never did the sound ones, only the other settings.
