EDIT: I have now unfortunatly resigned from this rpg, chaostar and communist have taken over, so please direct any querys to them :D ~aphex
WE HAVE TWO IRC CHANNELS:
#arstar - for roleplaying
#arstar-talk -chat to the gang without cluttering up the roleplaying channel

This is a roleplaying game, designed by me, where anyone can join. Think of it like
dungeons and dragons, where you sit around, think up a character, then start fighting dragons together. The world is called arstar.

Backstory
Seros is a polluted island in the world of arstar, surrounded by a veil of mist and covered by dense smog. There is only one town, which has grown over centuries, though no one knows of its origins. The people of Seros suffer from overcrowded streets and a lack of housing, due to the increasing population, as well as the relativly small size of the island (the city is very large though). The elder rules the island by strict autocracy, and he has done for as long as people can remember. No one has left the island for centuries.

note- The world of arstar is now quite complicated, for more details please visit the arstar wiki.
The set up
Your character must start on seros, and not have arrived there, remember seros is secluded from the outside world. Though your character could have no knowledge of where they were born...again.. situation changed, visit the arstar wiki for more details.

Magic may be included in this game, but at first, there will be no magic. Although technology exists, it is steampunk (see below). magic has neen introduced since the writing of this post. please visit http://www.arstar.wetpaint.com for more details.

Feel free to paint the world of arstar, just make sure its beievable, and don't go over the top :)
Rules and info

-the story is steampunk, which means it is based around the victorian era, except they have fantasy elements
click for examples of steampunk

Image
Image
Image

-Guns have not been invented, though crossbows can be used.

-Characters must start at seros, though there back story can be anything, though they must have been born on the island

-remember, your character can be anybody, from a chick with a battle axe, to some weedy kid who fixes sewer pipes.

-don't be stupid, and make a character called "Bannanna shit" who likes to rape donkeys. Keep it serious, though that doesn't mean you can't have a slight jokey character (eg. someone who's clumsy)

-be descriptive in your posts, its nice to try and paint a believable world,
e.g.
NOT- Sarah walked into a bar, and ordered a drink
YES- Sarah stumbled into the dank bar, the lighting was weak. She was already drunk, but was not satisfied, as her memory of the desperate conditions in seros still existed. She dragged herself over to the bar, and oredered a drink to ease the pain.

-If you want to talk outside of the game, use (())
e.g. sarah walked into the bar
((When is a plot going to appear?))

-You can bend the plot, but only slightly. This means you can create a character, such as a barman, to talk to, but you can't make the barman turn into a dragon and eat someones head off.

-you can't kill another character without their permision
I've kept the background of seros very loose so as the world can be created as we play. The storyline will basically involve escaping seros, and exploring the world or arstar

MY CHARACTER
----------------------

Name: Takkun

Description: Takkun is a 24 year old guy with short jet black hair, he's medium in height, and even though he is skinny, what he lacks in strenght he makes up in agility. His style is very messy, and unkempt, with loose layerd clothing which hangs off of him, he also wears a large tattered trench coat.

Background: Takkun was grew up by the empty docks of seros, where he gained a love for the sea and its mysteries. He currently works in one of the many factories in the cluttered industrial area of seros, where he scrapes by on minimal wage. ((the currency is US$ for convinience sake)) He has an underlying hatred for the elder's strict dictatorship, due to the fact his parents were executed when he was 16 because they were acussed of protesting for higher wages. He has an urge to leave seros and explore...

MY CHARACTER
----------------------
Name: Jessika Steel

Description: Jessika is a 17 years old girl with long, misty grey/black hair. She's fairly tall and skinny, with a large-ish upper body and long legs. She makes up for this by being incredibly stealthy. She is very well kept, with gorgeous hair that always looks shampooed, even when not. She has an abnormal condition that stores all the food and liquid she drinks and converts it into energy. Because of this, she almost never eats, but when she runs out of energy, she needs to eat large amounts. She's very mysterious looking, and often walks around with jeans and a trench coat.

Background: Jessika was an orphan, raised by a rich aristocrat family until she was 8. Her foster family threw her out on the street for treasonous slander. Since then, she's worked undercover to get back at the empire and the rich living above the poverty and starvation.
She works in the black market, selling weapons, and often hiring herself as paid arms or even as an assassin. She never stays in one job too long, as she is on the list of highly wanted people by the government.
She's done a lot of things in the past she's not proud of, but she keeps it bottled up inside.

MY CHARACTER
----------------------
Name: Rahim

Description: Rahim's age is unknown, but according to the elder, he is somewhere between 80 and 90 years old. Due to his age, he must rest often and for relatively long periods of time. At only 3 feet tall, Rahim is very fast, easily outrunning humans for bursts of over 30 seconds. Rahim, ashamed of his facial appearance, usually hides his face in a worn, stained brown veil. Additionally, Rahim is colorblind. He has excellent vision however, and has developed echolocation abilities.

Background: After Rahim's parents allegedly died in a conflict over their forest home, he was taken to orphanage in the outer rims of Seros, where he was locked in a dark chamber for most of his childhood. After making a violent escape, Rahim embarked on a search for his parents. During this search, Rahim has cataloged many of the inhabitants of Seros and their ancestors. Rahim is usually visited by others who search for their family. Rahim has recently been motivated to find where the inhabitants of Seros came from, and how they arrived at such a remote location.

((29403 unless you make a serious character, with some detailed thought put into his/her description and backgorund, you won't be allowed to contribute))

((uzi, we could do that, but it would be a little awkward, i've done a few rpgs on forums in this style, and it always seems to wor out fine. If anyones on IRC at the same time though, we can do some rpg'ing, but purposefully just using IRC would be hard to organize))

((right, i think i'll start it now, hopefully this will snowball a bit and we'll get some more players later on, im just gonna set the time and stuff, i'll introduce a plot once everyones established their character's place))

The sky over Seros was a blood red haze, with the sun setting in the distance. Takkun took a breath of air, it was polluted, but at least it was better than the stuffy atmosphere of the factory he'd been toiling in all day.

Around takkun the bustling crowd of people coming out of their work pushed passed each other, all in a rush to get home and relax. Takkun sighed, he was not so lucky, as his home was a make shift shelter made of bits and bobs he'd collected over the years. Takkun walked down the street, heading straight for the bar he ended up in every night, trying to drown his sorrows.

Takkun walked over and sat down on a table in the corner of the bar, away from the merry making that took place in the rest of the place. He would never be happy as long as he trapped on seros, with the elder forbidding anyone to leave the island.

Jessika watched across the room at all the singers and dancers, cheering merrily and drinking themselves happy. Bastards, thought Jessika. She'd never been the friendly type, and had been serious her whole life. Maybe that was why she could never fit in.
She watched the man come into the bar, kicking his feet as usual. He had short, jet black hair and a lanky, weak body. She'd seen him come in every day at about the same time. She knew she couldn't keep coming back to see him, or she'd get caught by the police again. Not that they were the police. Most of them were criminals that had been driven poor, and had to turn to the government for help. Now they skulked around, their chins held high, as if they were gods now. But Jessika knew that there were just a bunch of petty low lives not fit to run a country.
She sipped on her large glass of port. It was gritty and tasteless, as usual. She hadn't taste a good glass of wine in about 10 years. Not that she was counting.
She stared at the man across the room, wondering of the stories he knew, of what memories were concealed behind those gorgeous eyes...

Is it too late to join?

Assuming not...

Name: David (No last name)

Description: A vampire (If allowed... if not, it still works). A tall lean and lithe fellow, David is a very monocromatic fellow. He wears pure black, or pure white- Black for everyday, white for special occasions. Though close to 40(If he can be a vampire... bump it up to 90), he maintains an appearance of a young 20-ish youth. Other than his unusual black/white clothing (Always a long-sleeve shirt with a tie, a top hat, and trousers... and a trenchcoat), his hair is purest white- something that often draws unwanted attention to him. Unbeknownst to everyone else, David also has a mark on his back- 5 dots arranged like ".::" .

Backstory: David is an orphan. At least, so far as he knows. He grew up in a small labour camp- minded by an unkindly old couple. When he was 12, his house burnt down- though classed by the police as an accident, David was the culprit- and he escaped onto the streets of seros. After he fled his foster home, David was taken in by a blacksmith. He worked there for four years, before realising that he was a genius, and could be better paid elsewhere. He began to study medicine. Over the next few years, he learnt much... but when it came to practising his trade, he was thrown out- bone fractures and illnesses he could cure... but several patients unfortunately died when he operated on them.
Following this, at the tender age of 21, he became a librarian. He became a well-read man, learning a great deal of useless facts. Then, at 25, he was constripted as a specialist for the 'Seros Shockers'- well known for their use of large weapons, and high mortality rate. At any rate, he survived the two year conscription, and then willingly enlisted as a marine. He learnt his battle craft here- and became a good sword fighter- though his group did have a saying- 'If Leblanc was in a barn with a crossbow, the only thing he could hit would be the roof.' He compensates for his very poor marksmanship by only shooting at things less then 50 metres away... After serving them for another six years before he decided to move on. At 34, he turned his hand to inventing- and despite several interesting ideas, failed to do anything spectacular. In each case, his incredible intelligence, photographic memory and his amazing problem solving have seen him in good stead- he has enough money to eat.

His current profession is that of a lawyer- a prosecutor, to be precise. But behind his amazing list of achievements, his secret goal to find his real parents continues. He feels that he is getting closer to finding them... but at the same time, he's certain that he's been followed...

((Note- I'll make my intro... post... walking into the bar... thing... once my vampirism has been cleared or denied. Also, if there are any other problems... tell me.))

Fruita is 29 years old and is faster than Sonic the Hedgehog. Fruita isn't a hedgehog, he is a man who eats too much fruit. The natural sugars in the fruits give him his supreme energy. He zooms onto the stage, and is startled to find there are no fruits. Without fruits he is as slow as a sloth. Where are my fruits, he asks?

((its not too late communist,
i think dark and mysterious is fine, but as i said in my first post "magic may be included later", so at first, vampire is a no no, but your character may be granted some cool vampire abilitys later on... everything else is fine.))

((Also, i wasn't planning on everyone starting in the bar, but that might help me with developing the plotline... but if you want to start somewhere else, thats fine.))

((just a note, the plotline will develop into something like the journey of jason and the argonauts...))

((29403, to reliterate my point, make a serious character, or be happy as a spectator))

Takkun ordered a drink from the bar, trying to ignore the girl in the corner, he remembered her face from a series of wanted posters he'd seen plastered about the city, he couldn't remember what her crimes were though, maybe she was a pirate...
maybe she had a boat...
maybe she could help me off of this island...

Takkun downed his drink, took a deep breath, and walked over to the fair haired girl, his heart racing with the fear he was being watched...

"excuse me, i couldn't help noticing you across the bar, mind if i have this seat?" takkun asked, his nerves were going haywire, he shouldn't be talking with a criminal, let alone asking to sit with one...

Seriously Aphex, there must be room for a wacky character. You're making out to be a bit stingy, IMO. I'll remove that he's faster than Sonic the Hedgehog, because, yes, agreed, that's going too far. But RPG's don't have to be serious... or is it a rule for all RPGs? I don't know, never played an RPG.

Hell let's change the whole thing.

((Ok, that's cool. I'm fine with that. Also, how the hell did 29403 get mod?... =) ))

David (clad in his black black gear, with the trenchcoat, not the suit on) was sauntering casually down the grimy street. The low lit conditions gave
the streets an air of malice, nothing like the well-lit homes where he lived. ((Um... in Mortal Engines, there is electricity. I assume thats here too?))

But down here... the sea breeze called to him. The promise of new lands, places beyond Seros. Seros was boring.Just as he turned down an alley, a slight tugging at his side made him smile- there were always a few exceptions. He turned quickly, and picked up a small wiry man by the throat, and held him against the wall. A small jingle sound informed David that the man had just pick-pocketed him.

"Now see here. I'm not in the mood for games." The small man struggled, but there was no escape. David pushed a pressure point at his neck, and the man collapsed. When he got up, he was suprised by a large sword held to his throat. "This, my pestilent little rat, is a Zweihander ((Google it... It's a two metre long beast of a sword)) - I can cut you in half with it. NOW PICK A POCKET AGAIN AND I'LL GUT YOU!" Shouting the last words, David poleaxed the man with the hilt of that beastly weapon. Then he turned, and heaved the body into the waters by the docks. Hearing people come running, he quickly stashed his zweihander back into the secret sheath hidden in his trenchcoat, picked up his wallet, and walked away.

Onwards, forwards, the tall albino found a small bar overlooking the shipping lanes- that looked perfect for his plans. He planned to get drunk, and then vaguely ask people if they knew his parents. (For an intelligent man, David sometimes got quite theatrical.) There, over in the corner... Wow, he thought. That lady looked verrry nice. And that guy over there... David could tell from his life encounters who had potential... but not from half a room away- normally. This promised to be interesting. Signalling for the barman to bring over one, no, three vodkas, he settled down at the table behind the strange couple, pulled his hood up (It wasn't on his trenchcoat, no), and, straining his ears, began to listen to the conversation.

Jessika eyed the scrawny man. She knew she was intimidating him; she liked that. She liked being in control.
"Sure, have a seat" she said, patting the seat next to her. She said in an airy tone, but with an underlying force in her voice, making it clear that this was going to be done -her- way.
Before she started talking, she noticed out of the corner of her eye a young albino man entering through the door. She had fantastic peripheral vision, so she watched slyly as the man took off his hat and looked over at her. She watched his eyes.
The nerve of him! she thought. He's looking at my cleavage!
The man sat down near them and pulled up his hood. She decided not to forget about him; he may be a government spy.
"So, what village are you from?" asked Jessika friendly.

((Ah... Good old rping. Haven't done this in a while...))

Character: Jack Egwelln

Description: At about the age of 25, Jack is rather old for the main population of Seros. The thick black smog and overcrowding have led to a serious drop in life expectancy over the years ((inform me if I'm taking this too far, or in the wrong direction or something like that)). He is rather tall, Brownish hair, and always wears a Trilby, no matter what.

Jack is a pacifist, but will use violence as a last resort. Almost the stereotypical "nice guy", and due to an interest in Knighthood, he follows the practices of Chivalry.

Backstory: Jack is an inventor, and so is often in his element when it comes to working with machinery. Ever since picking up one of his father's ratchets, and seeing the increadible Steampunk machines built by his forefathers, has he been interested.
Even while at school, Jack was coming up with new designs, and models out of paper. He became resourceful, and started making items out of whatever he found scattered around.

Unfortunately, at the age of 16 Jack's father was murdered. A row with someone over some new invention or something; he can't quite remember. And so, he carries on the job in place of his father, and hopes to one day find out what happened.
--------------------------------

Jack was sitting in the far corner of the bar, sipping away at a cold beer. A pencil end to his lips; lost in thought. Every now and again, he would come up with an idea, write it down, and then dismiss it for it's stupidity or inpracticality.

Despite the fact that those two words would probably describe most of the people on this island.

Another idea popped in, and then resulted in some more frantic crossing. The was little space left on the paper.

Searching for ideas, Jack looked about the room. There wasn't that much interesting. Dancers. Drinkers. People coming in to waste more hours of their dreary lives away to the effects of Alcohol. Same old, same old. Not that he was that much different.

He could see a young man walking over and talking to an even younger woman. While this was quite normal in a place like this; some man will walk over to a woman and hope to get "lucky", as someone has refered to it before, it was different this time. There was an feeling of unease in the man's eye. By the indications made by the woman, she was happy to accept, although seemed to be taking charge. She also seemed to be watching another man - a shady man - so was possibly in hiding.

Guesses mainly. Although intuition hadn't let him down so far...

((Also, I'm fine with irc as well))

(( On the IRC I've registered the channel #Arstar . Feel free to talk there... Or somewhere else. Drathmoore and I had a conversation. It's in the spoiler. Warning: It's long. But good. Note that the "**" Denotes an action ))

David walked over to the table of this mysterious person- he hadn't seen him before.
The conversation

(David walks over to Jack's table).
<David>Hey there.
<David>Haven't seen you around.
<Jack>Hmm?
<Jack>Yeah. Not a regular
<David>I can see.
<David>So, what brings you here?
<Jack>Just spur of the moment realy
<Jack>Thought I might try something different
<Jack>Not too sure of it though
<David>I see. Want a vodka?
<David>I have three just here with me.
<Jack>I'm fine
<Jack>I've got this
<Jack>*Holds beer*
<David>That looks interesting. What blend is it?
<Jack>Er... Whatever a regular is I suppose
<David>*Downs a vodka in a single gulp*
<David>Oh yeah... I'm David.
<David>Hey.
<Jack>Jack
<Jack>Nice to meet ya
<David>Mind if I sit down?
<David>*sits down anyway*
<Jack>I'm... fine with it, I suppose
<David>Ah, I tell you. See that chick over there?
<David>I'd happily wake up with her next to me.
<Jack>Hmm
<Jack>I'd rather not sleep with chickens personally
<David>Hahaha. Indeed.
<David>*Me downs the second vodka*
<David>Ahhhh. Good stuff.
<David>Hey, what's this?
<David>Piece of paper.
<David>Thing.
<David>It's got wordies all over it.
<Jack>Just ideas mainly
<Jack>I'm an inventor
<David>Oh yeah?
<Jack>Just lacking the inventions
<David>I've done a bit of that too.
<Jack>Really?
<David>Yeah.
<David>Good times, good times.
<Jack>Come up with anything interesting?
<David>You can bet I did!
<David>I made a weapon that used magnetic forces to hurl a small force at high speeds.
<David>... Then the aristocrats took it away.
<Jack>Theyb take anything interesting...
<Pasty>I see
<Jack>Like magpies; anything shiny and they have it
<David>Ha, 'tis true.
<David>Drop a penny in the uptown markets and they all start scrabbling.
<David>How about you?
<David>You made anything interesting?
<Jack>Not much
<David>No?
<Jack>Some of this Steampunk stuff
<David>Facinating.
<Jack>I hear there's some project to make a weapon that can fire small bits of metal at people
<Jack>Not that interested in it though
<David>Ha. That's hardly sporting.
<David>You want to see a weapon?
<David>*draws zweihander out, puts on table*
<Jack>Thats... big
<David>It's a zweihander. What a big sword, hey?
<Jack>I'm content with this
<Jack>*draws a longsword, and also puts it on the table*
<David>A respectable weapon.
<David>Can you use it well?
<Jack>Reasonably
<Jack>It's only more of a last resort thing
<Jack>So I haven't actually used it against someone
<David>Ah, I know what you mean. With the last resort thing.
<David>*Pulls out small tube and places it on the table*
<Jack>That looks... interesting... What is it?
<David>Vodka.
<David>Hahahahaha. No, it's really a one-shot weapon.
<David>Pull back this flange... and pull that...
<David>And you have a single crossbow shot.
<Jack>So it's a handheld crossbow?
<David>A bit more than that.
<David>*Pulls out two handheld repeater crossbows*
<David>Those are the handheld ones- that use steam power to load the next shot.
<Jack>Clever.
<David>This one though...
<Jack>Saves leaving yourself open I guess
<David>Uses just tension. But it's small, see?
<David>So small, I can hide it... on my body.
<Jack>Easily concealable.
<David>That
<David>s it.
<David>Now these...
<David>*Pulls out stilleto and parrying dagger, places on table*
<Jack>Right. Remind me never to pick a fight with you.
<David>Wahahahaha!
<David>Good idea, John.
<Jack>Jack
<David>Jack.
<David>Sorry.
<Jack>And anyway, how do you get away with carrying all this around?
<David>I hide most of it from sight.
<Jack>Surely you'd be stopped; you're practically a walking armoury
<David>The zweihander's sheath is sewn in my coat...
<David>The one-shot... well... let's say it's very well hidden...
<David>The daggers are on the insides of my boots...
<David>and yes, the small repeater crossbows are collapsable.
<David>And go into my... er.... whats it...
<David>Belt.
<Jack>Hmm
<David>My necklace also doubles as a garotte.
<David>*Downs the final vodka*
<Jack>As I said, I'm content with just the sword
<David>Hey, John, I feel I can trust you... You look as smart as me...
<Jack>*Sheathes sword*
<David>*puts all the weapons away*
<David>Now, I have a serious question here-
<Jack>Er.. Jack
<David>Jack, sorry.
<David>Now Jack... have you ever seen this marking?
<David>*Draws ".::" on the table*
<Jack>I... Can't say I have, I'm afraid
<Jack>Is it significant?
<David>Ah, right.
<David>Maybe, maybe.
<David>Can't rightly say.
<Jack>I see... Personal thing?
<David>Yes.
<Jack>Hmm. I let you know if I see it, er...
<David>Alright. Thankyou.
<David>Hey, with the inventing...
<David>Let me know if you need a hand, alright?
<Jack>Yeah, okay.
<David>Right then.
<David>If you'll excuse me...
<David>I've got to go drunkenly remark on that woman's cleavage.
<Jack>Heheh.
<Jack>Good luck with that
<David>Right. See you later, John.
<Jack>Ja... Er.. yeah. See ya
<David>*Gets up and begins to stagger towards the woman*

David, after the chat, continued on towards the woman- drunkenly, but with a purpose in mind.
"Er, hey... miss? You have some great cleavage there. Ever considered marketing?"

Rahim was running. Faster. Faster. He could feel his heart thumping against his chest.

He had never run so fast, but the situation was dire. It was gaining on him. Rahim did not know what it was, but he occasionally caught glimpses of dripping wet sinewy muscles entangled in scarps of metal. The eyes. They were black and piercing.

Just when he felt a clamp around his waist, Rahim woke up.

"This old guy is going delusional, isn't he?", Rahim asked himself after waking up. He had had the same dream 3 nights ago.

Rahim looked at the scrap of cloth he had scribbled on last night. "Tecumbo" was written on it.

"Ah yes, I must visit Tecumbo," Rahim said. According to one of his reliable sources, Tecumbo was one of the oldest on the island. He had known the offspring of some early inhabitants of Seros.

Rahim left his house, oblivious to the stranger that had been watching him.

Name: Sypha (sif - a)

Description: Blueish green draconoid. Has a slight hunch and is medium-short. Thin build from starvation.

Backstory: Suffering from long-term amnesia, he can't remember anything for more than 3 months. One day while out hunting for food he found a large blank book, and started keeping logs in it so he won't forget things. He has forgotten everything about his past save for the last 2 years. Considered a reject from society, he lives in a cave far outside of town, and has established a primitive form of a lab. A keen alchemist, he can create various potions that have little field use, but some are unique. Having nitchtvision he can see full-well in the dark, but is cold-blodded, so needs to light a fire even on the brightest nights. He hates society and has hardened an emotional shell and is not apt to make friends, but will take help from anyone who offers, and has almost no pride. He has to hunt for his food, so he can't eat much.

He was met one day by a robed man, who gave him a sort of glow ability, as he was leaking with magical properties. The man stayed with him for about half a year and they became close friends until one day the man left him. Sypha was struck with grief and went in to seclusion and passed out from starvation. He awoke in his home cave some 3 days later with a note that said 'Always watching'. He hated everything life had to offer from then on, thinking that his only friend betrayed him yet is still there, taunting him with his presence. The glow ability he obtained has always been a reminder of this. He has a love for crystal-like stones, and collects them. He keeps all the green ones as he believes they have a certain magical property. The others he grinds into his potions, and they usually don't have any negetive effects, other than insominia with the white stones.

((This is going to be great fun, I can tell. Alos, how about we use Gold instead of US Dollars? We can still use the $ for sake of simplicity. Also, there is no magical implementation of his powers, so it's OK for now, right?))

----
((Classic Bar scenario | I'm going to right this as one of his journal entries))

I was on the outskirts of town this morning. I felt a strange presence, like a gathering. Having piqued my curiosity, I decide to try to sneak into town. I'll have to be careful though; if I gte caught, I'll be tortured. Anyways, There is a building situated right next to a hill on the outskirts of town, so I'll jump on top of it and climb over the buildings to get in to town. As I was jumping about towards that strange feeling, I noticed all the street life as I passed by. Ugh. Hopeless creatures. I hope they all feel the pain I had to feel one day. I saw someone beating on this homeless-looking man. It was sad, and I couldn't help but shed a vicarious tear for that man. I can empathize with him.

I later reached the source of this presence, and it turns out it was just a abr. I must have vicariously felt there drunkness, because I have this intuition about how people feel, and I'm usally dead on. I decided to hang around on the roof, and noticed a small crack in the roof. I peered through the crack and saw this nervous looking man talking with this up-class looking lady. Probably flirting. Hopeless scumbags, all of them. The lady seemed like she knew how to stay in charge of a conversation, and was making the man have a nervous breakdown. I couldn't help but notice a glimmer of doubt and suspicion in her eyes as she peered over to the side. I had to re-adjust myself to see what she saw. There was this man dressed in pure black standing there watching her. Creepy. Anyways, he walked over to this young boy and started talking to him. I got bored and dozed off, figured that I'll sun out here for a bit. Maybe I'll search the rooftops for some stones; they bring light into my life. I kept think of finding gems and finally drifted off into sleep.

Spoiler

"Err, hey... miss? You have some great cleavage there. Ever considered marketing?"
Jessika looked at the man and frowned. He was obviously drunk, so I would be easy to overpower him. But why waste my effort on him? Jessika thought. He's just another low-life. Even so, I do like to have a little fun.
Jessika reached into her shirt and pulled out a short Sabre sheathed against her stomach. The man reacted almost as fast as her, unsheathing a Zweihander with one hand.
"Impressive, for a drunk"
"You haven't seen anything yet"
Jessika stepped forward and launched a slash at the man's neck. Even though he was apparently drunk, he dodged it quickly and with great finesse.
"It seems I underestimated you" said Jessika.
"That happens frequently. But each person only does it once..." he replied.
David responded with an overhand blow to her head. Jessika parries it quickly, spinning around and aiming for the gut. David barely got his massive sword in place, but managed to sweep the deadly blade back. Jessika continues the flow, swinging the dagger-like sword round and aiming straight down on his head. Holding on to the massive sword with one hand, David's left hand flashed up, his parrying dagger firmly stopping the weapon's descent.
"Why are you attacking me?" asked David. As he says this, David looks down as Jessika's heaving bosom.
"You smug son of a bitch"
Jessika launches a surprise kick, knocking him to the ground. She puts the sword to his throat, triumphant. Several people around the bar clap, others look stunned.
"I suggest, lady, before you celebrate, you look down." Jessika looked to his other hand. There, instead of the sword, David was holding a small tube, pointed directly at her. "Let's talk this over, ok?"
"Hehe, good job" Jessika said dryly. "Fine then, I'll humour you." Jessika moves the sword away and goes back to sit down with the other man.
"Sorry about that, just be another minute" she says to him.
"No problem" says the man, forcing a smile.
"Now, something about marketing?" Jessika said sarcastically to the man. David had by this time picked himself up, and secreted all his weapons about his person again. He casually pulled back a chair, ran his hand through his pure-white hair, and sat down.
"I'm sorry I said those things about you. To be honest, you really aren't anything special." He smiled at this, and went on. "The truth is, I recognize you..." He paused silently for a second. "I know you... Jessika Steel!"
"What's it too you?" Jessika snapped back.
"I need someone with your... shall we say, talents?" David said. "I can pay extremely well. That's what you'd like, yes?" Jessika slaps the man across the face.
"I'm better than that. Everyone thinks that I'm just a low-life, but there's more than that to me..." Jessika trailed off, daydreaming...
"Oh I know all about you. I'm a prosecutor, at the moment, you see?" David went on. "Raised by a bunch of wealthy aristocrats... thrown out when you were eight, thrown out again by your foster family... and then a list of crimes longer than my arm."
"But the truth is, I need someone like you. I really do..."David's face softened, and he spoke softly... "I want to find my parents. I'm like you... I never knew my parents..."
"Well... excuse me, but I don't know your name" Jessika said.
"I'm... David. I don't have a last name... but I use to be David LeBlanc... on account of my hair"
"Well, David, it seems are paths cross not in vain. I accept your offer, but only on account of your fantastic swordsmanship" said Jessika.
"Thank you so very much. I've got several things I can do to help you, as well." David said. "For example, as a prosecutor, I can almost certainly help you walk free from your life of crime. Also, I think you'll find that merely working in my amazing presence will be a reward in itself. Though I should warn you, I'm not looking for marriage" This last bit was said jokingly, by David. He appears to have regained his forward, arrogant, and confident manner.
"This sounds too good to be true. How do I know I can trust you?" said Jessika suddenly.
"Err..." David stammered. "Well, you don't have any other choice, really. You're on the run, you have no discernible future... and I have some interesting information for you..." David paused.
"You are being followed"
Jessika's eyes widened. She always thought she'd covered her tracks well.
"Is it safe to talk now?" she said, leaning forward.
"Not really... but agree to work with me... and I'll make this person history."
Jessika weighed up the pros and cons. As David had said, she didn't have much of an option.
"Okay" she said eventually. "I'll do it"
"Very well. We have an accord." David stood up. "I recommend that you come live in my house for a while- it's good for lying low." David scribbles on a piece of paper for a bit. "That's my address. Come see me in the morning. If you want to stay at my house, feel free to do so."
"Now, I'm off. I'll take care of the person following you. Goodbye, Ms Steel..." David got up, and, cloak swirling dramatically, walked out the door.

Jessika glanced nervously over at the man. "Can you keep this secret?" she whispered. Takkun wasn't sure of what he'd just seen. He took another swig of his drink.
"Sure, but I need to ask you something, about your crimes" he said.
"Yeah, what is it?" Jessika replied.
"Do you know how to get a hold of a boat?"
Jessika was startled by this question. She had been expecting something major involving her sinister war against the government.
"Sure, why?"
"Really! You know where to get a boat! I thought they'd all been destroyed by the Elder!" Takkun's mind was racing, he needed a crew... "Where is it?"
"Well, I know some contacts that have a few stored; hidden away. There's almost no chance that we'd be able to get them on the water though, let alone sail them..."
Suddenly there was a crackle from the speaker in the dusty corner of the ceiling. A blast of trumpets echoed out across the room, and everyone fell silent. The Elder's voice issued forth.
"Attention citizens of Seros. The government traitor Jessika Steel has been found. She is seventeen, of moderate build, and with dark grey hair. If you find her, then remain calm and restrain her at any cost."
All the light had seemed to drain from the room. This is it, she thought. The rough men of the pub started closing in. She was frozen.
Takkun grabbed her hand, pulling her away from her seat. He races her out the front door of the bar. Takkun suddenly feels a heavy hand on his shoulder. Spinning round, he finds a man with an axe raised above his head, a crooked smile on his face. Takkun quickly pushes the girl away...
The huge man suddenly falls over, a sword poking a hole in his stomach.
"Waha!" Cries David. "Got the devil, and not too soon, no?"
Takkun wants to turn round and check on the girl, but his fear of the monstrous man in front of him leaves him no choice but to keep his eye on the deadly blade.
"What do you want? Are you going to finish her off? I thought the argument was over!"
David sheathed his blade.
"That argument finished. We made a deal. But that's not important now!"
Takkun sighs with relief.
"It looks like I've caught up with you in a big mess." David said. "I suggest that you flee with me, if you want to live." Takkun turns to the girl; he was following her, so it’s her decision...
Jessika stared up at the two men above her. She hated being put on the spot like this, but she had no choice.
"I think you'd better come with us. We may need you anyway" As she said this, her stomach turned over. What have I done to this poor, innocent man? she thought.
"There's not much time then. C'mon, let’s go!" yelled David.
And with that, David began to sprint down the back-alleys, the other two following...
The journey beginning.

Summary: After David and Jessika have a fight in the bar that almost leads to a duel to the death, they come to an agreement to help each other. After David leaves in a hurry, Takkun manages to find out that Jessika knows the location of a battered boat; but before they can talk more, they are interuppted by a message from the elder, ordering the hunt of Jessika. Takkun grabs Jessika and they both run out of the bar, where they find David. Then then run to safety.

Down and along, past the streets and under and through. Underground, and the secret tunnels. Running, running.

David looked at the others- Jessika was still fine- Takkun was panting a bit.
"Right" He said, "Welcome... to my house..."

The others paused. They were in the middle of a scrapheap. "You've got to be joking!" Said Takkun. David grinned. "Yeah, I am. Let's go. Walk now".
He confidently rounded a corner and began along the path- the others fell in behind him. They were now in the 'Deck'- the area of Seros, by the docks, filled with rich middle-class men. Pausing at one of the more opulant houses, David motioned the others through the gate. "This is my real house. It's not much, but I do enjoy it so."

Jessika opened the unlocked door- and her mouth fell open in suprise. It was simply amazing. The center room was an astoundingly elegant affair- filled with marble, wood inlays, and a spa in the middle. The back door lead to a garden that ran all the way up to the waterfront. Two staircases on the sides lead upwards. Takkun walked into Jessika, and also stopped, stunned. "Wow..."

"What can I say?" David smirked. "Lawyers get top dollar. Now, upwards on the right we have... well, lots of bedrooms. Four, I believe. Each with two beds in them- though one has a double- that one's mine. Feel free to take a room. Upwards up the right we have a workroom- where I do whatever I like. I have something for everyone there. Though, I don't think I should have bought all those chemicals.... Anyway... "
Now he pointed at doors just under each staircase. "That one leads to my extensive library, and that one to the bathroom. And down there is the cellar-(Pointing to a down-sloping door) I keep my food and drink in there. And my armory. So, what do you think?"

Jessika still hadn't recovered. "It's amazing... I've been in the black market, and I've never seen anything like this..." Takkun agreed with her.
"I may look about 20, but I'm close to 40. I've changed this bo- house many times over the years. My whole savings are in this baby."
"Right, so what now?" Asked Takkun. "Well, you guys have you lay low for a few days. Agents are out after you- It's not looking good". Replied David."I have a plan" announced Takkun. "We should get a boat and leave Seros!" Silence. David laughed. Jessika laughed.
"Genius!" shouted David. "Do you know where to go?""No... " Takkun trailed off.
Jessika clapped her hands together. "Alright. You're for this plan? I know what to do. We need money, supplies, weapons, drink, and more people. Oh, and a boat. How hard can that be?" David smirked again. "I got most of them... I need supplies, and more people. That's about all."
"You've got a boat?" "Of course... of course...". "Alright then."

David hopped from foot to foot, impatient. "Ok... you guys stay here and hang low. I'll go get everything we need. In about a week, we set sail."
The others nodded. "But first, I need to sleep. It's almost midnight! Jessika, you can sleep with me, if you want." Jessika's glare answered the question for him. "Fine, fine. Well, see you in the morning." With that, he bounded off to his room- thinking "I wonder if I can find Jake again..."

((Alright. There. BionicCyronic, Aphex gave you the all clear to play. Same with Izzy. In terms of plot, we were going island hopping... so if you want to go with these three, I suggest you make plans. But there isn't any pressure- feel free to either stay, or find your own boat. Finally, conversations on IRC are encouraged))

((communist try and limit how much you control other peoples characters as much as possible, i think the dialogue in your post with jess and takkun was kinda clumsy, although the end was nice and funny, but i didn't like how you represented my character... you did set the scene well though, so bravo. Just remember people like to control their speech ^^))

((bionic, a draconian is a little to powerful of a starting character, though you can be part dragon, so i now grant you cute dragon ears, and your skin has a slight green/blue hue, but nothing else of a dragon. You may be able to gain dragon abilitys later on in the game))

((also drathmoor, you might have seen us run out of the bar... hint hint... maybe you would follow us... wink wink, nudge nudge, say no more, say no more...))

Takkun watched david disappear into his room, he turned around pretending to admire the art, but in fact just trying to avoid jessika's eyes, his heart was racing and his mouth felt dry. His mind still couldn't quite contemplate what had happened, why had that man been following jessika? why did the elder put out a warrent for jessikas arrest then? could they trust david?

Takkun turned around to face jessika "I think we should sneak out and have a look at this boat of yours, we can always come back for david later..."

((I'll be switching to first person narrative from now on; I find it easier to write

And as a note. Young Boy? Aged 25? In a bar? Well, then again, I don;t know how Dracanoids, or however it's spelt, age, so it might be the case. As for the following, perhaps, but it's [subtle plot point] more coincidence than following that I'll run into you [/subtle plot point]))

"Heheh..."

It's funny how these sorts of things happen. First people are clapping at this woman's skill and finese in battle, the next they're crowding around, in the hope of some quick cash.

The bar was back to it's usual self as soon as the three had left. Although I'm assuming this is normal. I rarely even drink, let alone come to a bar. But... I wonder if "entertainment" like this pops up often...

It was easy to tell that these people weren't normal. David, I think his name was, was armed to the teeth. Obviously, he would be carrying all of it around for a reason; the Zweihander on it's own would be heavy, let alone the rest of the equipment. But why? This place may have it's fair share of scumbags and muggers, but one weapon can easily deal with those. And for so much weaponry, he wasn't giving anything away; there were absolutely no indications that he had all that stuffed away. Apart from him showing it to me...

Which leads to a very interesting question. Why? Why did he come over, and simply show me this stuff? Presumably, he was drunk. Possibly. It was only really the last thing he said that actually indicates that he was drunk. I know I wouldn't walk up to a random woman and remark on their...

That woman. Jessika Steel, did it say? Goverment traitor... Yeah. I remember. Some woman, fighting against the rich, and those in power, wasn't it? Heheh... No wonder The Elder wants her out of the way; he's probably scared. I must admit, she had that blade well hidden. I wouldn't have imagined...

Right, set my mind straight. Ah yes. That other man. He was the only one that actually seemed normal. Yeah. Looks like he's got himself in a bit of a mess. Mixed with a wanted criminal...

"Right, time to go". I headed for the door, and walked out. It was starting to get dark; towards the horizon the sky was deep red, while straight above the colour shifted to more of a deep blue, with some stars mixed in. However, the streets were a different colour. The floor ran red with blood. To my left was a crowd of people, standing around a body on the floor. From here, I could see a large hole where the victim's stomach used to be. A sword strike, from what looked to be a Zwei...

Wait, what? The crowd was turning towards me. I could see one of the crowd members had been in the bar, and probably went after that Jessika person. I presume he saw me talking to David, and therefore they think I'm somehow linked with the crime. Stupid people, always coming to sudden conclusions...

"Er... Hello?" I said, "Any particular reason I'm a sudden focus? Is it my dashing-"

"Can it!" Was the reply.

"Alright, no need to be rude"

"He has every right to, scumbag!" said another member of what was now looking more like a mob.

"And why is that?" I said. I could see where this was going. I had two options. The option of fighting, or that of running.

"Because your friend killed this man!"

"Friend? I don't even know your mystery assailant. Who are we talking about here?"

"Stop trying to protect him! He was with that Steel lady, so I'm guessing that means you can lead us to them both!"

"If I knew where either of them-"

"Get him! We'll make him talk!" a short man beckoned, interrupting me.

Hmm... Fight or run. I grasped the hilt of my sword, the crowd slowly closing in. Fight, and hurt people? They are merely trying to uphold the law, aren't they? Alright, they're taking the wrong route, but it's for the good of the people...

"Yes, about this. I'm in a rush, so... Bye" I said, turning around and running in the other direction. I could hear shouts behind me, obviously the old "OI! Get that man!" etc, etc. Don't we all love misunderstandings...

That's what I was going for, not necessarily a dragon))

After waking up, I went on a journey around town to see what was going on. I was first woken up by the speaker system and then saw 3 odd looking people leave the bar, after the black-robed one killed a man. I guess I underestimated him. I followed the bunch to what looked like a mansion, and heard them atalking about leaving the island. They must be crazy. The fog will surely chew them up.

After returning to my cave, I lit a fire and went to sleep. I had not eaten all day so I needed to conserve energy. I woke up to a plainwalker, a large chicken-like bird, sniffing around near the entrance to my cave. Carefully reaching for my knife, I jumped at the bird and elled it after two hits. Relighting the fire, I cooked the meat until it was ready to eat. I had a good meal. I'm going to go find that bunch of loonies again.
