We just went to a prerelease today, and four people got a progenitus, including both of my friends. I didn't end up with anything good, but it was fun.

I got a Child of Alara and made a naya/domain deck which worked pretty well, although not well enough -- the only games I won were against my friends, one of whom went 3-0-1. :(
It was really fun though, I just wish I'd stayed for the draft!

I also picked up a handful of janky rares, including four quickens, two eye of the storms, and two brilliant ultimatums for an eye of the storm combo deck, (drop eye of the storm, then play brilliant ultimatum, rinse and repeat up until tendrils of agony) and a grozoth and crush of worms for a cmc 9 deck I want to make.

Anywho i tried out the eye of the storm deck today and it's fun to quicken tendrils of agony, but beyond that a deck based around resolving two spells with cmc 7 is not a very good idea.

A question about Regenerate.

I know that when you use regenerate, it removes all damage dealt to a creature with that ability and removes it from combat and taps it. But what I'm confused about, is when you attack, it taps. If it's destroyed by a blocking creature, how do you use regenerate when it's already tapped from attacking. Is it untapped when removed from combat? Because it certainly can't be tapped after it's already been tapped.

Tapping is a part of the after-effect. It basically reads, "If this dude is untapped, tap it. If not, it stays tapped."

Basically, it's a prevention from damage-wars where you ping a 1/1 for 1 damage during post-combat main to prevent it from attacking, and your opponent just shrugging it off. There are actually a shocking number of instances I can think of where regenerating a creature and the tap-effect matter quite a bit. Vigilance, and critters with tap abilities being amongst the biggest.

Alright, thanks.

There've been a lot of arguing about rules at school ever since it became popular again.

Edit: New question already.

I have a card called warp world which has the effect of:

" Each player shuffles all permanents he or she owns into his or her library, then reveals that many cards from the top of his or her library. Each player puts all artifact, creature, and land cards revealed this way into play, then puts all enchantment cards revealed this way into play, then puts all cards revealed this way that weren't put into play on the bottom of his or her library in any order."

Now, when it says permanents you own, does that apply to cards in your hand and graveyard as well as on the field or just in the field only?

Hopefully there won't be too many questions after this.

Double post, sorry.

I'm starting a new Magic: The Gathering deck with the new Conflux set, and in the first booster pack I opened, I got a mythic rare card, which appears in 1 of every 8 packs. It's appropriately called Conflux.

Conflux is gonna be a fun set to use. It's styled around using all the colors in one deck and they all benefit by having as many mana types as possible.

Jace for Bolas...You definitely got the better end of that deal.

warp world
Permanents refers only to cards in play. I suppose that if it said "permanent cards" it would mean every card in every zone, including the library and removed from game zone, but that doesn't really make any sense anyway. On a side note, Conflux is awesome! unfortunately the card kinda sucks balls.

I've been looking through Conflux cards lately, and saw this card:

One question I have is how the heck would you destroy this thing?

Well, if you move it to the graveyard and it ends up on the bottom of their library, it's more or less dead unless they can tutor for it. Also, Decree of Annihilation, False Prophet, and Final Judgment.

EDIT: Moat is also fun. It doesn't kill it, but it *does* prevent it attacking indefinitely. And your opponent can't use a flying enchantment to get around it, due to the protection from everything.

It should also be noted that it costs ten coloured mana from five different colours. If your opponent can get it into play, you're in trouble anyway - either they could have just put some other gigantic creature in instead, or they've got so much mana they can fireball you to death in two turns. Or they can activate Door to Nothingness. Or cast Phage the Untouchable and equip a Whispersilk Cloak. Or any number of other nasty things.

all you need to win with phage the untouchable is 4 phages, 4 dosring hopes, a tutor deck, and a counter deck.

Final Judgment, Wrath of God, Hallowed Burial, Cruel Edict, Barter in Blood. Just a few of many from off the top of my head.
Edit: In particular sacrifice effects when the opponent has no choice in what to sac can kill effectively everything except for stuff like Anurid Brushhopper and creatures with persist. Oh, also Mutilate works if you have 10 swamps in play.
Edit 2: Just had to add another amusing one that occurs to me, Living Death. (hopefully I'm remembering the card name correctly)
Edit 3: I can't help it, Void, Pernicious deed.
Numerous ex-0ths (xaaaaeeeelaaaar!), over 300 top-20s and a 19+ hour total score.

Wrath of God and other "destroy" cards don't get rid of it permanently, though, they just put it back in the library.

Also, there's nothing stopping you from removing it from the game while it's in someone's hand or library, either. For one thing, most cards of that type target a player or don't have a target; for another, protection doesn't apply unless the card is actually in play, so you can smite things in the hand or library as much as you want. And if you're that worried about it, you can always use a Meddling Mage to prevent it being played.

I used to have a stupid good 5cg Domain deck back in the day. You wouldn't think 5cg is something you could consider being "consistent", but I've rarely seen it play past turn 6. Its first few turns are getting lands fixed, and then it throws Tribal Flames, Ordered Migration, and Exotic Disease at the opponent for 20 to the face. It's savagely fun. And then, I ended up putting in a Door to Nothingness, Bringer of the White Dawn, and Mindslaver for extra win conditions, and they're super fun.

Huh. Today i played against a friend and let him use my black deck(the one that played not so well the first 2 times) and he opened my eyes to a new strategy revolving around Dredge.

Basically, I'm gonna rework the deck so I draw creatures from the graveyard instead of the deck using dredge and cards with effects like "return target creature from your graveyard to your hand."

Oh, and he owned my fire deck using this dredge strategy. Suddenly, I like this new deck of mine.

Sad;y, no.

But I am a bit peeved that they're releasing a new set before anyone has really had a chance to break into the last release.

Whatever, it's their choice. I'll check out Alara Reborn when i finish my Conflux deck.

SCRATCH THAT!

my parents let me go with my friend, and I got the most amazing stuff ever at a draft; I don't think this has ever been done before!

First, when I opened my shards pack (booster draft) I got a tezzeret the seeker.

Then, later, I opened my Conflux pack. The rare in it was:
Nicol Bolas, planeswalker!
yes!

I got 2 planeswalkers without spending over $13.

You lucky, lucky bastard. *is jealous. a little.*

Anyways, after looking into progenitus, I've concluded that I refuse to play with that card, and against anyone using that card. it's too damn powerful and wouldn't be in the least bit fun to put up with.

And I finished my Conflux deck as well as creating a rather powerful spirit/shrine deck.

Dick Garfield actually hates me personally. And I'm not even kidding about that, folks. He's got a vendetta against me and only me and my loyalty to the game.
