You're just a year and 9 months late.

I could've sworn there was a thread for this already. Maybe it was on the old forums.

Although you are quite late, it is an excellent movie. The docu-style of it works when it works, but fails sometimes. It worked here.

Brilliant movie indeed. I've watched it on several occasions.

Yeah, it had a decent plot, although the on-screen sexual tension between Costner and Houston was palpable. I thought the scene with the samurai sword was atrocious, and the ending scene where Costner's character gets shot on-stage was way too obvious, but all-in-all, it was a good movie.

You're confusing Cloverfield with every Duran Duran music video.

The only part that really seems to completely ruin the movie is at the very end just before the credits when the scene cuts back to when they were on the Ferris wheel and on the right side of the screen you can see something falling from the sky into the water. Before I noticed that I thought it was awesome because it was still questionable where the creature came from (whether it was actually from space or was lying dormant for many years underneath the ocean).

I think the one thing that redeems what I said above is the sound that the smaller creatures make. Whoever made the decision to have them sound like that deserves a trophy. Next to the perpetually-drunk guy that was the funniest thing in the whole movie.

Just in case there's any confusion: It was lying dormant in the ocean. What you saw fall was a satellite that awoke the creatures slumber. The viral marketing campaign told us this.

At least, that's what I remember reading ohsomanymonths ago...

I had a headache from the handheld camera after watching the movie.
I've heard a sequel will be coming (Hopefully I'll see it and all my questions about the movie will be answered)
Overall it was a pretty good movie apart from the fact I got motion sickness.

Orange- N cannot be spoken, or even thought about in my household. If my parents ever found out that I have played N since the cleansing, my life would be ruined. I keep the game in a multi-passworded .rar on a USB flash drive inside a locked boron alloy container that requires two keys to open (I keep one under the 64th hammer in my piano, and the other one in a small section of removable ceiling in the corner of the attic) hidden in a wall compartment lined with aluminium foil to prevent sonar detection behind my 375 kg cupboard, which is bolted to the floor - the only way to reach it is to abseil outside the fourth floor window and use a screwdriver to unfasten the screws holding the secret brick in place on the opposite side of the wall, but the screwdriver must be a specific type like the one I own, since if any other screwdriver comes into contact with the screws, the entire building will explode, as will a seperate charge placed inside the boron alloy container, rendering the USB useless. Even once the container is retrieved, attemping to open it without the arming pin in place (which is kept inside the battery compartment of my Maglite) will cause the water reservoirs lining the container to burst and react with the caesium lining, causing the container to burst into flames - the only way to prevent this is to use the arming pins to shut off the reservoirs with a sliding steel door. The USB itself contains an accelerometer linked to an explosive charge, meaning that if the USB detects its own movement speed as being greater than 5 cm/s, it will explode - any person attempting to steal it would have to move at a uselessly slow speed. Once plugged into a computer, the USB will upload a ghost virus onto it, leaving no traces. Only the right password can deactivate this virus, and if it is left on the computer for more than six hours, it will format all drives.

As you can see, I take my N playing very seriously.

Guiseppi- I'd much rather watch animals get boned in the ass.

Yanni- If it's glad, it's not rape.

Tsukatu- I refuse to use throw-away bags for such a frequent purpose as buying groceries. Instead, I've collected the hair of my two pet dogs and have woven them together into an all-natural, 100% environmentally friendly bag that I bring with me everywhere. And when I buy products that come in glass and plastic containers, I track down the company that packages them and ship back their containers so that they don't take up space in landfills.

Yeah, I use plastic.

Tsukatu- I hear Ebony Online is great, too. Cum save your princess, my lord!

Ska- UR MUM LIKE IS SPICY

Ska- why d i get the feeling what i typed will end up in the quote depository; or worse: someone's sig.

KinGAleX- I did it on the couch a little while ago.

Zeph- I got too pissed at the knife in the end so I just broke the wood on my knee

^^Motion sickness was a very big topic in many of the movie's reviews, though it added to it in so many ways. The part where the chick was taken behind a curtain and literally exploded in a mass of blood and organs was pretty extreme. I almost threw up. I loved the movie, can't wait for a sequel.

Movies are better when they provoke thoughts.

For example take one of the die hard films. For lack of a better choice, we'll just go for die hard 2. This movie basically involves bruce willis and samuel jackson running about new york trying to defuse a load of bombs. The clever plot twists, non stop action and the fact that the lead actors 'click' makes the movie very enjoyable. But once the credits roll, and you flick onto some other channel (or leave the cinema.. depends...), you don't give any thought to the movie any more, other than it was enjoyable to watch.

In contrast the movie 'stalker' asks a gazillion questions, and answers only a couple, and the answers that /are/ given, are vague at best. This means, that afterwards, you keep thinking about the sybolism of the movie, or the meaning of certain events.

oh.... this is about cloverfield? that was a good movie. Managed to get the ... what? satellite? hmmm :/
