People who like the Shawshank Redemption. It's a wildly popular movie that is executed well and is really well written; but it's just such a generic sampling of the emotions better played in better films.

Of all time? It would have to be The Fifth Element. Sci-Fi-Action-Comedy. Chris Tucker at his best. Milla Jovovich at her best (and fuggin hoooot.) Gary Oldman being terrific. Bruce Willis being Bruce Willis. An absolute, undeniable classic. I've seen nothing that could hold a candle to the radiant charm and quirk leaking from this film since my early years of development, and i assure you my love of this movie has an insignificant amount to do with the fact that i grew up with it.
Man on the Moon comes in a close second. Docudrama-Comedy. Jim Carrey at his best. Danny DeVito being excellent. Paul Giamatti being wonderful. Ingenious. Poetic. Unpredictable. Hilarious characters. You haven't lived until you've seen Jim Carrey as Tony Clifton.
Tied for third are Fight Club, The Departed, and Betelguise (muahahah) for reasons that should be very clear, but can be explained at a moments notice if necessary.
The Birdcage starring Robin Williams, Nathan Lane, and the guy who voices Apu on The Simpsons has been firmly gripping its 4th place trophy since summer of '08.
I also plan to re-watch some Marx Brothers films over this weekend and my guess is that one of them will make the list.
Notable Mentions: Chicago, Catch Me If You Can, Tropic Thunder, Burn After Reading, Recess: Schools Out (yes, the cartoon) and Sex Drive.
I hope you enjoyed reading this. I enjoyed writing it very much. I like movies and hope to be a part of them some day.

I totally forgot about the Butterfly Effect though, so you can slip that in next to Oceans' 12.

Avatar, best movie in the history of movies. Well, you know, in my opinion anyway.

I'm fully with you on this, actually. In terms of straight-forward, farcical slapstick, Anchorman is my fav.eternal_moonlight wrote:My two favorite comedy movies have to be Anchorman, and recently, The Hangover. That movie is freakin' hilarious

Ocean's 12 is the weakest film of the series and anything you say to the contrary is a lie.Tunco wrote:Added Oceans' 12 to my fave list after watching it for the 5th time.
