In lieu of the administrators' giving up of nearly all aspects of the community, SlappyMcGee--the forum's most active contributor, by post count and post length and overall consistent effort--has been promoted to Global Moderator.
We all gave up. You didn't. Goddamn, you run the Ventrilo, you make new projects, you start new threads... I regret all the politics that prevented me from placing you as global mod before. You've had this a long-time coming and I regret not hanging out with you like we used to. The only person who offers more to the community than SlappyMcGee these days is LV, and only because he fronted the cash to keep the website alive. I'm ashamed of trying to be the face on what is everyone else's achievement *(see below for details).
When I said to myself "Why haven't I seen LV and Slaps like I used to?", I realized that I gave up in some regards on the community. And the reason that I connected so intimately with the two of you on Ventrilo, on so many occasions, was that inherently I wanted to be part of the community and so did you. I wanted to keep that going. Make it survive. SlappyMcGee, and LV for that matter, know this community better than I do. They know the people and the events. And when I said "Where are these guys?", I mostly meant "Where am I?" Where have I gone? What am I doing now? With The Real N, that's very little. And with everything else, pretty little stuff, too.
So, yeah, again: Whenever you ask "Where are they now?", know that they left. They're not doing shit for you anymore. And keep the faith. Ignore their absense and help out like you can.
*And I'm also tired to think of myself and my projects as "The Real N". Honest to Christ. To think all these exemplary Dave projects went here. My creative property on a website about everything else. Just thinking about all that effort and creativity wasted bothers me. Space Pimp could have been something. My comics could have been something. And this bizarre and innovated bureaucracy--the kind I railed against in my formative forum years--sucked me into getting nothing done once I'd gotten everything done.
Lesson from a friend: If you get good ideas, take them elsewhere. Just talk about shit here. Talk about life, enjoy yourself, find new games, schedule new games. Check with Pops, he's always got the newest games around here. And that's what we used to be about. Not waiting on Dave hand-and-foot to churn out profitless product. You'll make more out of your life, certainly, if you avoid this fate.
Love and kisses, good luck being the new global, SlappyMcGooose;
Dave.

This will surely be printed in Century Gothic and placed on the pile of "Evidence for Crazy Decisions" when you get brought to the nuthouse, but I love you, and many thanks!

I think this was a way better decision than the last dude you promoted.

Well considering that there really is only one fan community for N... well. Hmm. Take that jab at authority as you would then. I guess it was really meant to be global.
I'd say I'm settled on being a cosmopolitan.

Dave, I should have said this earlier. But I'm saying this now.
You've been the lifeblood of the community for a long time, along with Blizz and LV you guys make an awesome team that is definately one of the best administrative teams I've encountered in a while. Why you may ask? Because you guys have humour, you get involved, regardless of what it may be. Other admin teams just bum around, posting about site updates and not much else, maybe the odd word in an IRC channel. You guys get out, you do stuff.
Also, you've managed to make a large portion of the community admire you. This is quite some feat for someone who runs a forum on the internet. The members respect you, this is probably the best thing to have, because this means when you say something, they take heed of it. You give 'em a warn, they don't question it, because they know you're right.
Dave, you're a badass. That's all I can say. And another note, do not leave, or I will hunt you down and force you to come back.
And because you're so awesome, I even made a signature, which is rare of me. Enjoy!

I'd like to second Chase's comment.
About the moderator spots that may become open though. Why not move gloomp to Entertainment and Music, and leave lord_day solo on N? It's a pretty stagnant forum; doesn't need two people.

Nonono, Slappy's doing a good job there on those Entertainment and Music forums. I don't see a reason for him to be substituted or something. No need to put mods there.
And, of course, I agree with Chase.

I recall your promotion being quite recent...scythe33 wrote:I think this was a way better decision than the last dude you promoted.
I totally second this comment. You three, and many other people here, have more respect than almost all of the people in my school life (which, due to me being a muso, is my only form of life). You're excellent leaders, and you actually get involved and help us out. Don't doubt yourself for a moment.Chase wrote:The members respect you, this is probably the best thing to have, because this means when you say something, they take heed of it. Anyway, to Slappy, I already congratulated you via the IRC (in fact, we were talking about how great the D/K/L leadership team is), but congrats again. You completely deserve this.

Also wow, I feel distant from this community now. I dont know half the politics here anymore, and I.. god damn I feel bad for just vanishing. Dave's speech thing just sort of took me on a guilt trip. Oh well. Its grounding to know shit happens with or without you.
Slaps, congratulations. Its been a long time coming.
