Unlike the dream cars thread we had, this is for those of us whose heads aren't in space. :) Post the car that you currently drive, whether it be your parent's, your own, or even a friend's that you get to borrow.

My mom's car is a 1995 Grand Marquis which I primarily drive.

Image

(Not my picture, but it's the same year and color grabbed off Wikipedia)

Yes, the boat on wheels made for old people. I now pay for gas because of the job I recently got. Although it's my mom's car it's virtually mine because I use it all the time whereas she only uses it for doctor's appointments and other things where she needs to go herself. I do the shopping for our family too, I just use her debit card... she can't go out too much. It's comfortable, very spacious, and it's got some power to boot - 215 HP 4.6 L V8 SOHC engine. Of course, it's a very large vehicle. This makes parking and maneuvering more difficult compared to the tiny cars like the Honda Fit or mid size sedans like the Camry.

It does require some maintenance despite the fact that it still drives smoothly. It needs an alignment, a brake inspection, and I believe my dad already confirmed some months ago that the oil is leaking a little. It has also never received a tune-up, so that is in order as well.

My sister dropped her old car on us (1998 Cavalier) after she bought her new one but it got stuck in the driveway through the winter and now it doesn't start up. It also doesn't have plates and isn't insured, so it's just a piece of metal. We're planning on fixing it sometime in the future so I can finally have my own car to drive, but we're strapped for cash. It would be cheaper on gas, but I kinda like the boat...

So post away.

I drive my parent's silver 2004 Subaru Outback (L. L. Bean Edition). It's got a 3.3L H6 (that's a horizontal, or "boxer." engine), and TWO sunroofs. Because one just isn't enough.
Image
(not my photo, but it's an identical car)
The air conditioning is broken right now, which sucks, because it's starting to get hot. It's going in to the dealer to get that fixed soon.

EDIT: Careful inspection has led me to believe that the car in that photo is actually light green. I will clarify that mine is silver, not light green. So the one in the picture isn't really identical.

EDIT: Okay, the car in that photo might be silver. I honestly can't tell.

I've got a '97 Subaru Liberty (known to everyone outside Australia as the Legacy), the five speed manual 2.2L H4 SOHC version. It's pretty good for a first car. Only had to replace the clutch plates, as it hadn't had any clutch work for its first 200000 kms.

Also it has mag wheels.

I drive my mom's Mitsubishi Pajero at present. I will apparently have the opportunity to take my dad's Mercedes S350 out for a spin some time soon.

2005 Pontiac Grand Prix
Obviously that's not a photo of my actual car, but it looks almost exactly alike. The only difference is that mine came with gaudy racing stripes that I have yet to get around to removing.
It's my second car, but it's the first one that's actually mine.

So, maybe it's just something to do with having a car that's almost as old as I am but does anyone else have a nickname for their car?

Make way for some German awesomeness. My 1990 mk2 Golf 1.8 GTi 8v. A lot smaller engine that all your huge American things, but a whole lot lighter too. I still haven't really gotten around to doing anything to this yet. Getting some new suspension on it next week. New wheels very soon. I've got my heart set on getting a mk1 golf though.

Now lets all just wait for Borealis to see this thread, if he still even comes here.

Wedgie has the best car, 'cause it's a classic.

I'll be driving my parent's 2007 Nissan Note once the insurance is done. :D It's this colour too.

Bigger is not always better. I'd love to see some of you yanks bring your big ass cars over here and try and drive on some roads that aren't all drawn with a ruler.

And then y'all can bring your go-carts to American highways and watch them get creamed. Every intersection is like a monster truck derby, it's nuts.

Heh. here in Portland, it's bikes vs. Priora vs. Subarus.

No it's fine here, it's just general discussion.

Still try driving those cars down some lanes around here, you'd go into the hedge on the first bend! :P

I drive either a 2002 Honda Odyssey or a 2003 Chevy Astro (ya rly) depending on which of my parents let me borrow it. I don't have the money to pay for my own car at the moment.
