Some of you might know that a little over a month ago I deactivated my Facebook. I thought that it was taking over my free time and wanted to test myself to see how long I could go without it. Last week I was 'interviewed' by some psychs who told me that since I A) don't have a job and B) aren't going to school, I'm alienating myself too much. They recommended that I should activate it again. I'm somewhat on the border. On the pro side, I do miss a fuckton of my friends with whom I haven't communicated in a few months, and I miss Facebook Connect a little. I really miss wishing people 'happy everything.' I also was keeping some notes which I'd like to see again. On the con side, it's hugely addicting and I'll feel kinda bad for getting back into the habit. Also Facebook has horrible privacy and whatnot.

So do you think I should reactivate or not? I'll leave this up to you guys.

It really depends on how many friends you have on FB and how many you actually chats with constantly, lets take me for example I have over 250+ friends, 5 - 10 of these I chat with like one or two times a month! And what you do there except for chatting?
Thus, from the war of nature, from famine and death, the most exalted object which we are capable of conceiving, namely, the production of the higher animals, directly follows. There is grandeur in this view of life, with its several powers, having been originally breathed into a few forms or into one; and that, whilst this planet has gone cycling on according to the fixed law of gravity, from so simple a beginning endless forms most beautiful and most wonderful have been, and are being, evolved.

I'm easily one of the most selective people I know. I clean up my friend list like four times a year. That being said, you're all the only people I actively talk to, with the exception of my family. So the people I'm friends with actually mean something to me. I don't really 'chat' with anyone there, I just stalk my newsfeed and give insight were I think it's needed.

Have you looked at other networking sites? Maybe it's just me, but sites like twitter seem a lot less addicting (or at least waste less time.)

I had a Twitter, but I didn't enjoy it. I might go back if/when I get a smartphone. I have a g+ account, but that site's a joke. I have a tumblr, and I spend basically all my free time there. I guess you could say I live online. (AFAIK, I am the only Aidiera online too. Look me up.)

Why don't you just rationalize your access to facebook, instead of deactivating your account? Channel all of that time that you lose to facebook to other things you like. I know sometimes when you're on facebook going through the newsfeed, laziness arises and you just can't find anything else to do.
