How many new techniques, methods, or types of maps are left to sit and wait until someone invents them?
How many new ways to use enemies are there?
How many maps can use this method until it dries up?
Certainly something to think about, how many.
I'm certain that there is at most 100 new methods yet to be found. What do you think???

I think there is an infinite number of different methods for using enemies, map styles, etc. And an infinite number of people can use an idea as long as they keep it fun and exciting.
Ice Climbers are awesome. Deal with it.

Oh there are definitely more than 100, especially with Nreality, expanding so many options.
I think there are millions of possibilities left to be discovered.

Lol that was a typo, I edited my post..
But I don't think there was an intended number of methods, as it all depends on a user's creativity, and use of atmosphere, objects, tiles, use of the ninja itself etc etc. The never ending updates of Nreality just increases the number exponentially.

Technically, there are over 10^1073 different possible tile combinations, and thats completely ignoring object placement. So far we've used 143100 or so. Considering how many useful combinations there are, theres a lot of scope for the future imo.

I use 'drafting' while making maps. It is a technique where I put randomly some tiles and then growing it into better map. Was this in question?

I say that's a false fact, as there are definitely many maps which are tilesets, which are used multiple times by other people.GTM wrote:So far we've used 143100 or so.
And N-Arts count as maps too! =P

Unfortunately, you are wrong. People have discovered new things with code hacking, new concepts are being produced, and Nreality has opened up a whole new load of possiblities. Maps are getting better too, and that can never be a bad thing.

Even if all of the concepts become discovered, how is that a bad thing? All it means is more polished maps from a larger variety of people. Its like football, no one ever changes the rules but it still remains a great game.

ahah, it's a bad thing in the sense that maps won't be any different. I mean every time a map is made, it's technically a new concept, since it's new, it has it's routes, certain placements of advantages/disadvantages etc etc.GTM wrote:Even if all of the concepts become discovered, how is that a bad thing? So really, concepts will never end.

Has NReality really changed anything? When was the last time anyone even made an nreality map? They've practically dried up.
As for combinations, there are less than you think. But there is still new things to be done.

Football sucks.
By the way, I still try to make Nreality maps, even though there isn't any inspiration.

It's not as if M&R "intended" a specific number of ideas to be thought of. Asking how many different maps were intended to be made, or how many new ideas can be thought of, is like asking how many different computer programs can be made or were intended to be made from a programming language. Of course, N is more limited than a programming language, but I hope you get my point.ENT474 wrote:How many were intended???
It's pretty much impossible to know how many different ways there are to use an enemy. People are always thinking of new ideas, and we can't tell how many they'll think of.

Back on topic,
Whenever N 1.5, then there will be even more methods, some in which we've never dreamed of.
