I watched Black Swan with Nicole last night and neither of us really liked it. We both thought it had structural problems and didn't like when it devolved from psychological thriller into pure horror. I kept expecting some kind of twist or even an ending that kept you guessing but it's just the most obvious thing is what's happening throughout the entire movie. "Surprise! Everything was exactly as it seemed!"

Wouldn't be surprised if Portman won best actress, though. She was awesome.

I'm not sure I understand your complaints, and would like to hear a little more elaboration. I looked at the film thematically and thought the ending was really meaningful to that; I'm not sure I specifically understand what you mean by everything being exactly as it seemed.

SPOILERS UP IN THIS BITCH

Yeah, thematically, the parallels were very cool. To see Nina recreate the story (somewhat) of Swan Lake in her own life as she was struggling to come to terms with the portraying the lead, I liked it. But I expected that and it just seemed, to me, that the movie was promising something unexpected. I didn't go into the movie with any expectations (this was something Nicole wanted to see. All I knew about it was that Portman and Kunis make out) but I expect some major reveal at the end. Like Lily is in fact trying to kill her or she kills her mom or Thomas rapes her or anything! But in the end, everyone's normal except her and she's just as crazy as we were lead to believe. I was expecting something Memento-esque or K-PAXian where it either leaves you hanging and you have to decide for yourself or there's a huge oh-my-god twist at the end but instead we just have everything that we already know confirmed. I don't know if that's a good reason to be annoyed by something but both Nicole and I thought that, independently. They could have found a way to keep the levels of recreation in Swan Lake and still had something for patrons to discuss afterwards.

I was kind of refreshed by the fact that there was no Natalie Portman is Tyler Durden (Mila Kunis) twist.

I'm really liking the new series 'Come Fly With Me' on BBC, although I don't know if it's broadcast in the US, which is sad.

Just finished season 3. Pretty excited for #4 (coming in the summer). It moves a little slower than I'd like, but I have enough patience.

Starting this now, because I've constantly heard good things about it.

AAAAAJAHANAKAHAUGAJAHAIAUGAIJABNAUGHAIJABAYGAAA!

So just in case you were wondering, yes it looks great, yes there are a lot of adult jokes, and yes there is about as much action as a non-extended version of The Fellowship of the Ring.

Indeed, but I'm a horror fan first. Especially when it's French and brutally violent.
