love that game, too. too bad there're only a chosen few playing it.

<~blue_tetris> First off, making a game and calling it the sequel to Tetris is like making "Butter 2: Revenge of Butter".
<~blue_tetris> And it's actually margarine.

Man, none of you people play real board games.

Munchkin and its variants are lots of fun. I'd highly recommend Munchkin or Chez Geek to anyone ever. Fluxx is good for 5+ players (and it's basically a commercial 1000 Blank White Cards, so if you're creative, you can play it for free). Dominion can be hell of fun if you get a weird set of cards on the table. San Juan is great (haven't played Puerto Rico so I can't judge that - they're supposed to be about the same). Kill Doctor Lucky is fun for 4+ (think of it as a prequel to Clue, you go around the mansion trying to kill Dr. Lucky. Very much in Clue's style too). Ticket to Ride and Pandemic are still on my to-play list, but they look fun. Pandemic is even a cooperative game if you don't feel like competing.

So there's my list. Again, if I were to recommend any one game, I would recommend Munchkin.

If you have a lot of people, 10+, Apples to Apples is a great word board game. Here are the rules.

YES

The game is enjoyable with as few as 5 people, though, from my experience.

Scrabble is really the only board game I ever play. I remember The Omega Virus was a good one to play with my parents, and I would sometimes play it solo too. If I had it here with me I'd probably play it some.

I used to play Mastermind a lot with my cousins when we were little, meaning before 10 years old. Great game. Except now I forgot how to play. Anyone play Mancala?

I suppose Trivial Pursuit can be considered a board game, if one of the less-referenced ones. I got one of the latest versions of the game, too, ftw - although I did also like the older versions. Pretty good stuff.

I'm terrible at Chess, but I'd have to say it's my favorite board game, since it's the only one I've actually cared to learn the rules to. I see there are quite a few chess players here. We should play some time. :P

We used to have a bunch of chess players here with a bit of competition and an IRC channel dedicated to it. This died a very, very long time ago. I doubt it will ever get resurrected, unfortunately.
Achievements:

Completed N and NReality.
106 N v1.4 highscores.
I used to maintain 1000 NReality Level Top20 Highscores - Ranked 0th
Former Owner of Episode 169, way back when.
I've taken 10 Metanet 0ths. 6 of them lasted <2 days. I don't have any of them anymore. >:(
Third Place in BLUR 4 highscore.
Not highscoring anymore until v2.

I see. That's interesting and a bit sad. Let me know if you ever want a game/if it starts up again.

I would have to say Backgammon is my favourite.

I have recently enjoyed Stratego with my housemate. Scrabble also.
