Absolutely brilliant. Looking at the current route it seems so foolish to have climbed to the top all this time.alsojp27ace wrote:84-3, a couple of seconds to be saved here:
EDIT:
Are we totally sure it is impossible to get all of the gold in one go?
58-0
Quite difficult to get the right angle to get all gold on the way up, but it is the start to the run so worth it for the time saved.
I also just thought, maybe a route that does at double jump at the top of steps and goes to the exit switch then down to the bottom and back up the right side like normal. At the top of the right do a PJ to WJ on the 6 tile and land on the BBs and jump to the exit. I am not too confident in that route being faster, but it just popped in to my head while posting this innovation.
EDIT2: Actually I am not so sure. This is the closet I could come to landing on the exit switch. I don't think it is possible with a double jump. it definitely isn't possible with a RCJ.
EDIT3: Ok, now I am less sure about my doubts.

I'll post a related picture that has always baffled me, regarding Lim's leads in his prime time. Some of the levels you've recently innovated are up there:
That list is of course missing a lot, since that shows his leads at one particular moment, they used to be reduced by xela/lat or others. What I find amazing though, is how given the playing standards back then, he would come up with these routes which used to / still stand by today. He definitely revolutionized highscoring and upped the ante a lot, that's when highscoring stopped being child's play xD
On another note, check out that 120 score on 96-4, damn. This is one that lat innovated by like 8 seconds or something.

That did seem so obvious to me, although I always thought about it after getting that gold instead of before. But since I was still a fledgling highscorer at the time, I just assumed that all the gods above me knew better. Apparently it takes an eccentric genius like jp to really go after these ideas.alsojp27ace wrote:84-3, a couple of seconds to be saved here:

Quick rough check. It saves ~60 frames; probably like half that in a real run and when done by someone who can execute the current route better than I. However, in all honesty I just got it in to my head yesterday that it had to be possible so I set out to prove it. Basically the same as what I did with 44-2 and proving that AGD off one jump is possible. I doubt either of these are real time innovations so I should probably have put them in the tool assisted thread.ska wrote:How much does this save... because it doesn't seem to save as much when you consider the new route...TheRealOne wrote:84-3 AGD off one double jump.

@ska: I haven't tried it, but if it's as tricky as TRO mentioned, I doubt I'll implement it. It's worth a shot just in case you can actually get the hang of the trick. All I'm gonna say though, is that my run was tough enough already, even if it doesn't seem like so by just seeing it.

Just wanted to show that this is possible. It is fairly obvious, but here is the proof. It is a frame perfect innovation so unlikely to have a high success rate. However, with JP's new route I don't think there is really anything to be lost by hitting jump at this point and hoping for the best. If the jump is missed you should be able to continue with the current route with out any trouble. There may be a few frames lost by clipping the corner harder, but certainly not much.

As the diagram indicates, the blue/green divide is just a couple of different routes depending on how you attack the gold.

- pink switches are mandatory
- red are optional if you can chimney fast enough (and I included the one on the right just as a precaution)
- I made this without looking at the demos, so forgive me if there's nothing helpful here
- hopefully you can figure out where the double jumps go
- good luck

Interesting. You're right that it's hard to judge. When you factor in the extra piece of gold, you get a net saving of 26 frames/0.65 seconds. Of course, this isn't factoring in the faster start you did by missing gold, the cleanliness factor (your run seems quite cleanable compare to kool's), and the death before the exit. I would love, love LOVE to see someone execute a 0th run using this route.alsojp27ace wrote:An idead for 18-1 for grabbing the extra gold:
Its hard to judge, but I'm pretty sure its quicker by about half a second.
I completely suck at the start so just imagine I got all that gold.

I'm going to go out on a limb and suggest that drones won't be the problem they are (like with kool's run). I feel this way mostly because of that two second delay, but I am merely guessing.Hendor wrote:I've been watching 18-1 since you knocked me off jp :P I think your new route is faster. You come out of the bottom section over a second (45 frames) slower than Kool, which is about the same margin by which you are slower. If you get a better start to your run and clean the rest, especially the end, you'll have him. As long as the drones don't get in the way...

Also, I've been thinking of another new route for 18-1, uses two corner jumps, seems pretty quick. The following demo is the route until I mess up just after the second corner, and then this is the end.

very nice. I'd like to see what JP makes of this.Hendor wrote:Yeah, I agree
Also, I've been thinking of another new route for 18-1, uses two corner jumps, seems pretty quick. The following demo is the route until I mess up just after the second corner, and then this is the end.

It's super hard and is probably only like 2-3 frames faster when executed flawlessly, but on a frame war map maybe someone will be willing go for it.
P.S. I have convinced my self that it is impossible to get the first two batches of gold in one fall AND get a CK that will get the third batch, but I would love to be proven wrong. That was my original intention with this innovation.
Edit:
18-0
Not a real innovation since people are probably trying to do this in some of their runs, but sliding off the BB is about 5-6 frames faster.
Edit2:
33-3
A low jump at the start after collecting the first batch of gold can save like 10 frames or so if done right. Not terribly difficult. Getting the right speed so that you can clear the second platform but still collect the gold can be a bit tricky.
