Original poster was Kablizzy, but I raped his post and added new content.Ah, the wonders of IRC. IRC? What's that you say? Internet Relay Chat is one of the oldest forms of chat and most addicting on the net. If you already know about it, then don't let me stop you! If not, then let me introduce it to you! IRC is an excellent way of opening new doors in growing communities, just like ours. mIRC and Chatzilla are perhaps the most popluar IRC clients available.
Server: irc.mountai.net
Channels: #n , #music, #doomsday
General rules for the IRC channel can be found here.
mIRC is a free downloadable client which seems to have an expiry date, but never actually expires. Like sex!
Chatzilla is a built-in for Firefox. It's lame, as are all those who use it.
mibbit exists.
Xchat, for our Linux friends, is also all right.
Note: If kicks for bad behavior persist, banning from the channel altogether is an option.
Feel free to use it 24/7.
That being said, here are same basic commands that will help you navigate mIRC, the program I recomment the most:
/msg (Nick) to Message a member.
/me blanks. (Makes it appear as, "SlappyMcGee blanks")
/server irc.mountai.net (Actually connect to the server if you don't want to set it as default.)
/join #n (To join a channel.)
/nick (Nick): Change your username to (Nick).
A lot of the rest is self-explanatory.
Hope this helps.
NB: The back-up server is always irc.starfusion.org. Go there if the server is down.
