Here is a challenge - Name one bad thing that the concept of Global Warming has done? Now name the good things that have resulted because people are scared that the ice caps are melting and the poor polar bears are dying. More efficient energy research and more people dedicated to cleaning the environment come to mind quickly. So why the hell are people saying we shouldn't worry about global warming, when the fear of the concept has helped us so much? Even if it is a farse, it has inspired people to help make the world a cleaner place. So I don't care if global warming is real or not, as long as people do good things because of it.

Hmm. I agree with your logic. Mostly.

All this enviromentally friendly stuff tends to cost. Spending money on the environment may be worth it, sure, but if global warming weren't true, at the very least there would be different and better non-global-warming related environmental things to invest in.

Anyway, I think the gist is that there could be some very noticeable, very negative consequences in the near future.Aldaric wrote:the poor polar bears are dying.

The concept of Global Warming has not been killing the polar bears. If anything it has made us want to help the polar bears out.

basically what you're trying to say is: even if global warming wasn't actually happening, the things we should do to prevent it (and are beginning to do) are things we should do anyway, but probably wouldn't if we weren't worried about global warming.

No, you're right. The concept has been killing absolutely nothing. Global warming itself--in this case, decreasing habitat--is. And will continue to. I will enjoy seeing Miami go under, though.Aldaric wrote:The concept of Global Warming has not been killing the polar bears. If anything it has made us want to help the polar bears out.

If it is not true, it is more of a white lie than anything else.ortsz wrote:Plus, you know, the issues of truth and trust.
