Oh, guys, guys, I want to talk about this hemophiliac kid at school. My friends like to throw knives at him 'cause he bleeds more easily than other kids. Is it okay if I laugh at his suffering? All the cool kids are doing it.

So there's this kid at my school with a broken leg, and we like to steal his crutches and laugh when he falls down because he can't stand up as easily as the other kids. Is this wrong?

Well it's definitely negative for him. Haven't you ever heard of the phrase, "Treat others the way you want to be treated"?scythe33 wrote:So there's this kid at my school with a broken leg, and we like to steal his crutches and laugh when he falls down because he can't stand up as easily as the other kids. Anyway, to get back on topic. I always laugh at autistic kids. It makes me feel better about myself. After that, I go outside, kick people in the shins, and call them weaklings for grabbing their leg in pain. After that, I take wheelchairs from people who need them, and laugh at them because they can't walk. There's nothing wrong with that, is there?

I usually try to avoid people with disabilities or such because they make me feel bad ;_;. Axonn, you should feel bad for laughing and you shouldn'y succumb to bad peer pressure, but that's just my opinion.
And Erik-Player, they're just joking, unless you really believe them.

For those who are lamenting the lack of variety in opinion here, here ya go, off the top of my head:
-everybody has a different sense of humour
-why not just laugh in private
-being mocked is character-building
-failing to mock his ridiculous ways will wrap him in a bubble that will burst horribly when he's older
-trying too hard to be nice can often lead to accidental cruelty
-acting in a synthetic manner to a person can highlight their differences and isolate them further
None of the above is my opinion, for all those who don't realise that.
Axonn, all jokes by other people about high schools aside, these kinds of situations can be hard. Most adults would probably tell you to stand up for the autistic guy, and maybe also find some new friends.

The thread is debating the merits of making fun of disabled people. Totally different thing, and on its own not grounds for locking, which you needn't ask for in any case. The staff will do their thing when it's necessary.blackbelmoral wrote:some one *lock* this thread.

there is a line where it just becomes abuse, sarcasm, and spam.
you dont debate laughing at an autismic kid when he cries, and of course you made him cry.
thats just cruel; there's a line.

Any more high-lare-eous irony will certainly get this topic locked. And I can't imagine there's anything else left to say on the original question.

Heh, I know "debating the merits of making fun of disabled people" is a bad phrase. I get your point, I just found your reasoning that "its cruel and making fun of disabled people" to be invalid. The thread is collapsing into a pile of sarcasm and spam, I'll give you that, but the only abuse I've seen has been directed at Axonn.blackbelmoral wrote:you think you even need to debate that?maestro wrote:The thread is debating the merits of making fun of disabled people.
