I wrote an essay. Comment. Enjoy.
The Cycling of Day Quality

Recently, I had an epiphany that I believe dictates the life of everyone around me, myself included. It was this: The quality of your life fluctuates in a cycle, similar to the graph of a sine function. Many people have realized this; I simply am putting down on paper for my own sake. Deeper thought allowed more clarification on this topic. The quality of one’s day can be classified into one of 3 categories: good, bad, or transitional. However, I use day as a substitute word; the period of time that remains the same quality varies person to person, and day sounds better than, say, time unit. Some may say quality is relative, and that is true, but it is relative to the person; most people know the difference between a good or bad day. I believe the worst days are not when everything is bad; no, that is too predictable, The worst days are when several things go wrong, and a fleeting glimmer of hope appears, only to be crushed a few moments later. I also realized that the older you get, the less stability there is in your life. The less stable your life is, the shorter the time units of quality fluctuation are. In other words, you will have longer periods of good and bad when you are young as opposed to when you are older. To sum this up, I have drawn a single conclusion regarding human nature, which is this: It is typical of the human mind to do everything it takes, even at the expense of others, to lengthen the periods of good and shorten the periods of bad.

Talk to your doctor about rapid-cycling bipolar disorder.

edit @tsukatu: i see...well, it was pretty vague, so maybe i misunderstood it.

i think you're talking about periods in people's lives that cycle between bad and good. i'm not exactly sure what your conclusion is. are you saying that everyone has a natural survival instinct? that people's natural instinct is to try to have as much good as possible in their lives? that's not too consequential of a conclusion. also, you should be a bit more specific about it; you rambled at several points during that paragraph.

yungerkid,

Um, no, not at all.
If you had asked a doctor about rapid-cycling bipolar disorder, you'd understand that what underscore described was basically rapid-cycling bipolar disorder.

I don't think this is relative to me; I never really rate my days, I just live my life and look forward to the next day.
