I don't know I've never been around a gay. I'm fine with the concept, but I just don't like the idea of two of the same gender being together. If a gay walked up and tried to make small talk, I'd be fine with tat. If he hit on me, I would not be fine with that. I'd just walk a little closer, look at him for a couple seconds, and then, WAM! Knee him in the nuts.

Geeze, man. I would go for a more population-protection-method than that if I were mugged. I would first start dancing to confuse him and then poke his eyes. After wards, I would kick his shin really hard, then knee his head until e faints.

But seriously, what would you do if a gay flirted with you? If he was just 'hey, wanna go out with me?' I would say no. But if he tried to go all hardcore on me, that's when nuts will roll.

Dude, what the fuzzy bunnies is wrong with you? There is a colossal difference between someone asking you out, and someone trying to pin you down and give you the old in-out in-out.

</The Elder Scrolls geek>

There does seem to be some aggression against gays when they hit on people. There does seem to be a thought that flirting gays should be dealt with the same way as armed robbers. I find this interesting - it certainly indicates an aversion to homosexuals, so I find it particularly interesting that a lot of people that say they're fine with homosexuality declare in the same sentence that they'd assault a homosexual if they made any attempts to flirt (with an enormous onomatopoeia, no less).

I assume that most of us would do the same thing we would if anyone else we weren't interested in flirted with us. Namely, indicate that we're not interested.

I hate to think what will happen if you get married. Every time a girl flirts with you, will you scream "I'm monogamous, bitch!" and knee her in the groin?

Only for homosexual men, if they came on to strong. I don't do flirt>date style, more like meet > befriend > get to know better > maybe take it from there if things go well. I don't like the flirty types.

I highly doubt that, but if it's true, good for you. But so what if a gay flirts with you, you're not gonna degrade them and spread the rumour of the untimely flirting.. You're not gonna humiliate him by causing a scene.. You'd just treat it as if it's a normal situation, I mean, as a straight guy, I'm not homophobic, and as awkward as it would be, I'd still respect a gay flirting with other guys. It's not his fault his hormones are kicking in at the wrong places.

@BionicCryonic: The fact that you feel the need to qualify your 'acceptance' of homosexuals with "...unless they flirt with me" that indicates that you're not okay with gays, however much you claim otherwise. Firstly, if someone asked me how I feel about women, I wouldn't say "Well, women are okay, as long as they don't come on too strong. Then I would be forced to beat the stuffing out of them like the worthless scum they are. Uh, I mean, I value womens' rights." If someone asked me whether I was okay with black people, I wouldn't say "Yes, as long as they don't try to mug me in the streets." If I was asked about religious people, I wouldn't say "Yes, I'm fine with them as long as they're not mindless sheep." Please tell me that you can see why statements like these might be considered offensive.

Then there's the fact that whether or not you smack someone for making an unwanted advance apparently depends on whether they're gay or not, which is a pretty clear case of bias against homosexuals. Not to mention problems with believing violence is an acceptable response in the first place...

In some cases, violence is self-defence. And that whole thing you explained was stereotyping. I didn't stereoytype anyone.

And the women's rights thing, the same priciple goes for men, to. So if people come on to strong (and it woud have to be pretty strong, to) I might take some form of action regardless of gender. I like sexual morals to remain safe is all.

I'd probably do the same thing that I'd do if any other person I'm not attracted to were to flirt with me: I'd reject them.

Surely you don't expect every person who flirts with you to be super hot and attractive to you.

Not in the case of a gay person hitting on you, though. What bodily harm could possibly come to you just from a person of your gender flirting with you?

Right, but that form of action needn't be violence, especially not as a first resort. It seems far more effective and less hideously primitive to just tell the person off.

id like to point out how unlikely the situation of a homosexual man hitting on a straight man is. and a homosexual woman blah blah. you seem to have a warped view of homosexuality, plus i dont think you'd come off as the kind of guy a gay man would want to hit on, what with you objecting to his sexuality and all that. on top of that, as everyone else has pointed out, violence in the hypothetical situation mentioned is a primitive reaction, and could be based on your own sexual insecurity: you need to harm someone to prove you arent attracted to them, which is clearly overcompensation.
okay, ill stop borderline flamebaiting in debate, but it is unlikely.

@Tanner and incluye: both were funny, but radium liked incluye's better. i liked Tanner's better, so i suppose you're even.
