A fish by any other name is just as stupid.
And edible.

Peta is so stupid.
well, changing an animals name can do no harm, and it might get one or two people to become a vegetarian. you know, in the world.

Fried sea-kitten fillet sounds much more appetizing.

Are they saying that kittens taste like fish? I like fish. Could I be eating delicious kitten casserole here?
Also, what the spork do you call catfish under their wacky scheme? Landkittenseakittens? Are kingfishers kingseakitteners? Are sharks now sea lions, and actual sea lions now "sea land-sharks"? Or perhaps "sea land-sea-lions"? Are tiger sharks now "striped-land-sea-lion sea-lions"?

This was on reddit a few days ago. Everyone agreed that like an angry toddler, PETA simply shouldn't be given any more attention.

Most parents would never dream of spending a weekend torturing kittens for fun with their families, but hooking a sea kitten through the mouth and dragging her through the water is the same as hooking a kitten through the mouth and dragging her behind your car
New sport: Street Fishing.

People around the world should rescue sea-kittens from the bodies of water where they live in danger of being hunted, take them into their own homes, and keep them safe in a kind of sea-kitten tank. Wait...
Yeah, this article just knocked my faith in humanity down another few pegs.

"Byrne says that rebranding fish as sea kittens was obvious."

Branding fish is inhumane.

Yes, we needed something new to debate about.
This was not it.

I like the story book on the site, and creating my own seakitten. Too bad I still hunger for Seakitten Sticks. Peta saddens me beyond belief, and, in fact, watch this.
P&T Bullshit.

Part 2
part 3

This is a questionable method of getting a message across, and many people seem to have problems with the methods of this PETA group, but I wouldn't hold anything against the cause of animal rights in general because of that.
Snuggletummy, did you at any point actually use that video as a reference point for deciding how to view PETA? Please say no ;___;

Shell shock to "Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)"
Toilet paper to "bathroom tissue"
They're not Black people, they are "of African descent"
Fish to "sea kittens"
uhm... excuse me?

PETA kills most of the animals that they take in. They figure domestic animals deserve the right to run "free and wild", so they take them out of "capitivty". It turns out that some animals are called domestic for a reason. They belong in a house. When PETA sees that the animals can't survive well without humans, they offer the sweet release of death. PETA has decided that, collectively, animalkind cries out: "Give me liberty or give me death!"

I don't source my information. I speak and others believe.
That's how things must remain.

Why the hell wouldn't you?
If some part of it is wrong, go ahead and say so. Otherwise, I don't see how you could expect someone to refuse to consider something so serious.

That's not whats up for discussion in this thread, and besides, the PETA equivalent is probably just as bad anyway.

And, fun fact, do you know how Ingrid Newkirk (president and co-founder) got into the whole animals rights thing? She took some kittens to a shelter and was shocked to discover they had then been put down (she was told that was what would happen but apparently she wasn't familiar with the term). So, she decided to do something about it—she took a job in the shelter and, in her own words, "must have killed a thousand of them, sometimes dozens every day".
In fairness about the pet issue, PETA's website has an
FAQ about companion animals, which says nothing about letting pets run free, but rather, "the most important thing that animal guardians can do is to spay or neuter their animals and avoid buying animals from breeders or pet stores, which contribute to the overpopulation crisis."

All i can think about now is eating kittens... I mean, i know that as meat eaters they are probably horrible... but now they seem so tempting. They have always been cute - could they be delicious as well? Only one way to find out.
