This being a serious debate topic, I must ask you stay on topic.oeuvre wrote:BK burgers over McDs any time.
(I agree with your conclusion re: the Quarter Pounder.)
It is interesting to note that the Quarter Pounder was explicitly designed for those "who wanted a higher ratio of meat to bun", while the Big Mac and its club sandwich design goes in the other direction with a higher bun-to-meat ratio.

Big Mac. Quarter Pounders make me feel sort of sick.

To those just joining us (Daikenkai I'm looking at you): I believe this thread is discussing the merits of burgers within the *same* restaurant. So in this case, Burger King = Mac fanboy in a PC thread.
Anyway, I suppose I'll have to say Quarter Pounder. For reasons already stated by reventón, I like to eat more than just a wad of bread with some sauce tossed in. I like substance to my burgers.

The quarter pounder is so much more value. The Big Mac patty is one tenth of a pound of meat, so even with a big mac, which is two pattys, you are only getting one fifth versus one quarter.

I've nearly always regretted eating a quarter pounder. They seem so much more like thick, wet slabs of fat that I just can't enjoy myself past the few bites. It's like biting into a heavily-seasoned sponge soaked in grease. As an American, I of course enjoy eating egregiously greasy, oily, artery-clogging foods, but the quarter pounder is just too much. It's almost as though they poured a bucket of cow fat into a blender, cooked it 'til it kept a consistent shape, colored it brown like a patty, and then advertised it falsely as edible.
In fact, one of the last meals I had at McDonald's (quite some time ago now) was taking advantage of that "2 quarter pounders for $3" deal they had going on, which I thought was way too good to pass up. I ended up with the most lengthy and violent bout of food poisoning I've ever had in my life. I have a strong enough constitution to get over food poisoning in just about always under a day, but those quarter pounders put me out of commission for half a week.
Bic Macs are just so much more... classy, I want to say, though I realize that's a hilarious word to use to describe anything coming out of a fast food joint, particularly McDonald's. I don't think I've ever eaten a Big Mac and wished I'd bought a different menu item.

I know I'm digressing here but my favourite sandwich at Canadian McDee's is the Big Extra. It's like a Quarter Pounder but has lettuce and tomato so it doesn't feel like you're running a slaughterhouse through your head.

But you see, I prefer this feeling when it comes to just about any other meat product. It's just that quarter pounders are so... voluminous with soggy, grease-drenched bun and low-grade meat slush. You could imagine them making the thing by carving the fat out of morbidly obese people's arteries and sloshing it between two bun slices. I realize that many other foods I eat are about as unhealthy, but they don't have to taste like it.hairscapades wrote:I know I'm digressing here but my favourite sandwich at Canadian McDee's is the Big Extra. When I make my own hamburgers I usually use half a pound of ground sirloin. It's delicious. Expensive, sure.
I'm going to vote for McDonalds' Angus third-pounders, if they still sell them. I don't go there too often, so I'm not sure.

Quarter Pounder, for the value. If I'm eating at McDonalds, I'm obviously more concerned about price than quality anyways.
I hate backseat mods as much as the next guy, but where's the debate? There's really nothing to argue, it's just "which one do you like better?"...shouldn't it be in General Discussion, or Pie?

I also hate backseat mods, so I propose you are promoted to moderator of the Debate forum and DemonzLunchBreak is promoted to Global Mod, while we weed out... wedgie?Mute Monk wrote:Quarter Pounder, for the value. (On topic, I'm surprised that this many of you eat at McDs. I undersrand the appeal of cheap food better than most, but hell, even Taco Bell is better than McDonalds.)

Well ... I'd rather not, Slappy. I don't eat at either of them often, regardless.

Royale is just a quarter pounder, according to the man in black himself.
