SO apb went down with her ship, real time worlds, never to be seen again right? wrong. g1 bought it out and the closed beta has been going on for awhile now.
good news for the money impaired, its coming with a free to play function (pretty much the same thing only less character slots, design layers, cosmetic stuff really)
If you dont know about it,
this right here pretty much sums it up.
Also, other links:
Character Creator
Enforcer Gameplay
Criminal Gameplay (they remind me of snatch XD)
ill post my own gameplay video, ive been busy at work and life. if you get this game go criminal and friend me: DethChikkin

I played the beta.
I like the concept, I think it just needs better executed. And the fact that your opponent is always human means you run in to a lot of camping douchebags.
As for the social district (all the customization stuff), I unfortunately don't have an artistic bone in my body, so while I found their tools awesome, they don't provide me with a reason to play.
What I want every other MMO ever made (or to be made) to copy is their subscription model. Give me pay-by-the-hour at a reasonable rate, I won't play a game consistently enough to justify paying monthly.

That's an awesome subscription model.

Seems fucking amazing, but I now overtly refuse to check it out due to personal and religious reasons.

I like the idea, but I lost interest when I watched a few gameplay videos on YouTube. It seems like something I'd get tired of really quickly.

Religous?
Also Kai I have a personal rule of leaving online only games alone till 3 to 6 months after release and seeing if the community is still active.

the community is consistently active, spiking in mid day but still hundreds of players in the late am hours (not saying waiting is a bad thing, seeing as theres some rather annoying bugs). as for the camping, its unavoidable sometimes... but not too impossible to overcome (especially if the player is at notoriety/prestige 5... then they're open game to ALL players) and most of those spots have multiple entrance points (save for one or two rooftops in the financial district). mostly im either being chased or chasing someone or racing from point to point if im not burning or defending something.
and you guys got to remember this game is brand spanking new, yet gaining WoW like popularity (pretty much the future WoW of shooters imo) and addons / updates WILL be made. im expecting motorcycles and hoping they put some gunner cages on the truck beds (so someone can stand and shoot a heavy weapon while in motion).
blizz, maybe you should just go out and buy a better "religion". one that can support this game... hint, hint :P
speaking of, i should tell you guys this is a REALLY demanding game. i have a friend with a nivdia 920 gtx with 1gb virtual memory and 4 gigs of ram and he has to run everything down to the lowest settings (its the virtual memory imo, or should i say lack-of), so a top of the line pc IS required. i run everything on tops settings tho ^_^
hey anyone know of a good (or free) video format converter? the ingame recorder uses .ogg and i cant use any vids of that format in windows movie maker

There is no nVidia 920 GTX desktop card, and you said virtual memory, so your friend is most likely running it on a laptop, which means it is no where near high end.
I ran the beta on medium settings on my PC I built 2 years ago, equivalent card to mine by today's prices is about $80.
I still might try to pick this up later in the year. Gotta wait and see how much free time I have and how many bugs they get worked out.

All of us without the budget to buy a new computer every year feel your pain. It's so humbling to start a brand new game and go immediately to the Options page and start dragging all the sliders all the way to the left. Resolution: 640x480. Anti-aliasing: None. Extra Effects: None. Texture Detail: Very Low. Character Detail: Very Low. Water Effects: No Reflections. Shadows: Simple. Motion Blur: Off. Particle Count: Very Low.

blah, i meant he has a 250 gtx and i have a 260... but for some reason it still crashes on his even tho theres not much difference. im thinking he hasnt upgraded to dx10 yet due to lack of internet.

my laptop is stronger then my desktop in all specs, except HD space. and no there's on board memory on the video card (i think)
