I've had an exciting if not stressful week. Good luck to all the participants this week, it was a difficult theme.

Oh, come on. I was going to submit a sig exactly like that blank black one. I was too lazy to do it. And now what's happening? It's winning. What the fuck.

hahaha, bufar.

Wtf. You guys complain when an awesome stock wins the comp, but not when a big black box does. Odd.

I mean, I know there's hidden meaning or some shit like that, but still, it's a black box, not an image. Had the theme not been named out loud, no-one would have voted for it other than for a joke.

Other than that, really liked how this week's theme turned out. What happened to southpaw's image, though?

Last time I checked, this contest wasn't called, "Who can make the best looking image." It conforms to a theme, and in this case it does so quite well.

Nonono, IMO, the contest is to see who makes the best looking image, while respecting the theme.

Would I use a black sig like that? Only as a joke, like gTm mentioned.

I have to say that I was so very close to not accepting the black-box signature.

The sig itself doesn't show any actual censorship. All it does is show a black box which has the /idea/ that something is censored, but doesn't actually prove that it's censoring anything. All the other signatures (except maybe GTM's, heehee) definitely show censorship as something more than just a black censorship box.

Thorgerson had noted that Roxy Music's Country Life was sold in an opaque green cellophane sleeve—censoring the cover image—and he copied the idea, concealing the artwork for Wish You Were Here in a dark-coloured shrink-wrap (making the album art "absent").
I'm with the capn, there were no explicit requisites defining what the image could or couldn't be. A black box is just as legitimate as all of the other entries in my view.

Legitimate, yes. Good, not really. :3

Southpaw /did/ say he was looking for something more than a cropped stock this time.
