Haven't posted here in ages O_o

here's some of what I've been up to, I suppose:

pixel noodling

some throwaway concept.

Some pixel art for a challenge. Short time scale as hinted at in the picture.

This is for a game that I got finished this week, hopefully to be released along with the new blackberry tablet in the coming month.
it looks more or less like this at x2 now.

Which one? Some are drawn at ~640x400 some are drawn on >2kpx wide canvases. Obviously the pixel work doesn't get any bigger but the island one is at full size here at 1600x1200.

I'll also happily do commission work ;)

from a few days ago, I've been doing a bunch of art for not-me so I just wanted to have a play around. Unsatisfied at best, boring shootan person but cowl collars and overalls are kind of cool. :/

Playing around with lassos and reflections, I would've done more with the lighting if I had time.

Funny you should mention that.

I've been making games for a while, buddy. The screenshot above is actually out of date, and for a game I've submitted to blackberry to be released with their new playbook tablet. Its my first large project to actually be "completed" as such, and it almost killed me last month, to be honest. To make something like that start to finish in 30 days as one person is pretty draining.

I'm sure I've shown you guys my games at some point. Yanni's definitely seen them.

Mostly not just because they're massive works-in-progress, once a game for PC (including iCompeh and *nixbox - they're flash games) is finished I'll likely make a projector for it though (read: it'll be distributed like N). I don't really want various versions of any of my games floating around in their unfinished state so they stay on the site for now.

Thinking about making an FPS, learning C++ and 3D art along the way. I'm sick of lores voxels all the time, so I'm thinking 16x16x16 for "tiles", with a character being 1.5 or maybe even 1 "tile" high. That sort of resolution would mean bullets breaking terrain wouldn't seem absurd, explosions could cut into the terrain at varying amounts, and buildings could have internal voxel detail (beams in the walls, surrounded by gaps).

I'm thinking voxels because I've been doing a lot of pixel art and polygons seem restricting. We'll see how it goes. Here's some thinking art.
