A simple light gray and blue skin. Icons by me, inspired by Chase, what a surprise.

Must say, I really like it. The Thwumps are really cool, though it would be good to slip N into some images.

Also, maybe change the top image to "Metanet Forums" - but still with the Meta-M. Otherwise it looks a bit small.

The layout looks really nice. I also love the thwump as the folders.
By the way, that's a crap load of new messages.

Oooh, pretty. I'm lovin' the thwumps, too. Combine this with a quick modification of Chase's icons (more distinguished new/no new posts) and we have a nice candidate for a default skin.

While I like the basic design, a few things bug me about the skin.

The Metanet 'M' header doesn't really fit with the theme created by the rest of the skin. Try making a header that is made specifically for the skin, rather than trying to fit something different into the design simply to match with the Metanet theme, maybe 'Metanet Forums' with a stylised 'M' all done in blues and grey.

The other problem is that, imo, you have taken the N themed grey too far. It looks like you've tried to spice up the largely grey skin by adding blue to selected bits, but to me it doesn't work. You need to have more colours present than just blue and grey.

Also, relating to the colour issue, it seems weird to have an entire skin based on blue and grey, and have the only variation from that theme present in the previously mentioned header, and in the colour coded names of the special user groups.

But, despite those personal dislikes, I like the overall look of the design. It is really sleek, and it does have a Metanetish feel to it. Maybe try to work on a few of the points I outlined, and it it could look really spectacular.

Wow, guys, thanks for all the comments.

First : : Condog, I'm aware the skin isn't very colorful. However, I like it that way; I think it's a good color balance. You have to understand that with me and color, I either underdo or overdo it.
If you want to try and add some more color yourself, by all means be my guest. I'd welcome some help.

Second : : I do, in fact, plan to stylize the Metanet logo. That should be fun.

Third : : I'd like to propose that the group colors be changed to the ones in my skin. That way they work equally well for light and dark skins.

Fourth : : I can't actually code, so I'll need someone experienced in CSS and HTML to assist me. If anybody's willing, by all means come and help.

Thank you very much.

Actually, it just occured to me that I can take the Hermes files and just change out all the images and such, heh. But I still need someone to help compile the .cfg's.

Coding, anyone?

This is actually a really nice design.

I still don't understand the need for a folder though, why? It's not completely obvious when looking at them for the first time what they are. Why not just have plain thwumps? Plus the fact that it is ripping off chase, not that I understood why he made the folders though either.

P.s. On the nitty gritty, I'm global.

EDIT: On reflection, I really like this design.

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. :P

Thanks, wedgie. The thing is, if I do get this off the ground, it's going to be combined with Chase's imageset, so why not have the forum icons match it?

Hm. Still, regardless of the copyright infringement, I just dont get the whole folder thing. :/

Post post off the cuff thought, thwumps could prove to be really cool icons. You could have a moving thwump as a moved topic, for example.

Folders contain things, dude.

Ooh, good idea.

Evil_Sire, if you're good with CSS, by all means be my guest to help. As soon as I get a good coder, this skin'll be implemented, but until then you'll have to stick with whatever you're using.

Erm, yeah, thanks for clearing that one up. I had no idea what a folder did. O_o
What I mean is that I don't understand why a topic icon needs to resemble a folder.

You don't have to please everyone you know. Just personally, with my tastes and all, I don't like the idea of folders. It's not like you need to be so hostile in justifying yourself. O_o Damn, I like your skin, just not the icons. Be happy that your work is appreciated.
