woo it's open
the old post, for reference and nostalgia okay lol

So, SOTW is over, and I want to make sigs. Why not have a sig topic too?

Ask for one :D

The more you ask, the more I'll be learning, so keep'em coming (requests).

I'll post some sigs of mine later.
Here: SOTW sigs and a bonus.

Following the trend, I made this not a sig-only place.

There's now room for some pics and images I'll do throughout the time.

Donfuy juice makes sigs? Yay!

Okay, I'd like to put in a request for a sig featuring the McDonalds Happy Meal, and all those shitty toys that come with it. Thanks!

I just want to say an important thing. Please be patient, the sigs will come and I'll do every request, but don't expect them to be kicked out of the factory fast fast fast.

I like to take my time doing sigs, so that it cames out good, not reasonably good. So it takes some time for me :D
edit: by the way, another reason for the time I take, is that I usually learn something new in each sig, so I play around with it first xD

goatman, yours is being done right now!

Thanks, MCKY.

goatman's sig is taking more time than I predicted (the idea I have, I don't have the skills to do it --yet), so I just picked Laurie's request and made it.

Image
Firstly, I was going to make it more vivacious, with more color and contrast. But then I realized that would take all the nostalgic feeling of it, so I just left the colors as they were.
Hope you like, Laurie!

Oh, and hey, first sig with a border!

'KAY!

AFTER MANY TIME

Firstly, I want to tell the history of the sig, via images and some words!

First idea
Man, with a flamethrower. Pixel flaming.

Using this guy
Image

Second idea
Came out of the "flamethrower" google search -- I found a lego flamethrower man, so, I was going to replace the man with a lego man.

Result
Image

It was a somewhat good idea, imo, but there were too many spaces. I had many ideas, like having a pixel background, and increasing the flame -- increasing the flame had the problem that it would stretch the sig, right and up, creating more space. The background idea problem was that I hadn't a single idea for a background.
So I stopped goatman's sig dev, and made Laurie's (wow so much simple).

Then I found Goatman on IRC, and showed my project. He said that it was cool... but that he would prefer something with pinks and greens (I think he was referring to the pixel colors, grading from pink to green).

(INSTALLED WINDOWS 7 RC, FROM WINDOWS 7 BETA)

'KAY, then

Third idea
(line of thought) ->> Green -> Plants -> Awesome plants -> Carnivore plants -> Google ->

Result
Image

Wanted to make pixels coming out of the..."mouth"
Then I realized it wouldn't be that good, as the mouth is really wide, and you don't see any actual hole from where the pixels would come.

Fourth idea
Take another carnivore plant, roll it sideways, and make pink pixels come out of the mouth.

So, it was all doing great, until... I wanted to gradually pixelate the image. I asked Izzy (that was the only imager available at the time) and he introduced me to the great wonder that is "Layer Mask". Okay, it's not thaaaaat great, but it was really, really useful to me. Anyway, he introduced me, but then he got away and I still didn't know what to do with it. I got tired and did nothing more in that day. Next day (yesterday, I think), I took it again, and understood how could layer masks would be useful to me to do what I want. So I took the image and did something. Now, I had pixels and a carnivore plant... but it didn't look thaaat cool. Next day, the ideas came, and I finally finished it, although...

FINAL PRODUCT
Codename: CarbhixationCUBIGRa
Image

I'm not sure if the pic itself is worth all that time.
The learning sure was.

If you want text, tell me, and I'll gladly make it into the sig (of course, nicely! :D)
Trivia- the various names the sig got over time (I saved different, just in case some ideas didn't work, and something bad happened): Legoflamipixeler;Carbhixation;CarbihixationPIXELATT;CarbhixationCUBIXE;CarbhixationCUBIXELXP;CarbhixationCUBIXELvista

EDIT: btw, I would appreciate some commenting, even if it's bad!
EDIT2: Just remembered -- I asked Izzy before I had the carnivore plant idea (still on the LegoPixeler)

For behappyy. Tell me if you want text!
Also, if this doesn't meet your expectations, tell me! I'll be glad in making you another one.

edit: are my sigs getting a little /too/ random? I mean, I've just passed from a Llama on crack to a borderless, fridge sig.

you forget to mention that it's a television fridge! That's the best part!

Nah, randomness is what happens when you do so much of the same thing and then do one unexpected signature that isn't like your normal style in any way. If you're always pumping out different styles of sigs then nothing randomness becomes your style and is therefore no longer considered random. :D

That's how I see it anyway...
