MAY I REQUEST ONE?
matching avatar too

Yes, sure.

Here's something I made, will it work?
Image

If so, I can whip up a avatar like that *snap fingers*.

Ooh, your style is so abstract.

Can I request one that is somewhat geometrical?

Is it to your liking?

Wow, really, you just toned it down to the point where it so simple that it makes a statement that complexity isn't needed for good art.
I was hoping for some more geometry in it, but I like it nonetheless.

Like it? I'd rather not add any text, but I will if you insist.

GLOOOMP can I have one? If so, can you slap TFK on it somewhere?

Well I don't mind whether or not you can, but can you make one with the same colour scheme as the one you made me, except with complex geometry?
I just want to see how much it can contrast.

Sure, it'll come after TFK's.

Anyway, here's what I've whipped up for notsteve. I talked with him on IRC, and he said he likes it, but isn't going to use it. Or something.

I'll take anything, as long as it pertains to my name.

Thanks.

Basically what your images come down to is this:

You have little understanding of color, location, contrast and design. Your images lack a focus and overall they are poorly made and some look as though you made them in Paint.

The one for notkitt is an awesome idea executed poorly. Too many times did you repeat his name so that where you could have caught glimpses of his name here and there it just looks like mess throughout most of the sig. You could probably cut down on 60-80% of the times you repeated his name there and it would look many times better. The background color doesn't fit with the color of the name when it is visible. Here's some advice: don't experiment with contrasting colors until you understand when and where to do such things. Those colors would work a lot better for someone who understands where to locate the colors within the sig so that each stand out on their own but flow from one to the next.
Design overall is poor. Like I said, looks like you made it in Paint.

Basically I think you need to do a whole lot more experimenting and download some tools that will help you out. deviantArt has some really great resources for Gimp, Photoshop and PaintshopPRO. dafont.com has a huge database of fonts that you can download for free. It's fast, simple and will help you out a lot. From deviantArt I'd suggest downloading brushes and working with them. Experiment, experiment, experiment. It's my favourite way to learn and it allows you to make your own mistakes and learn from them, instead of learning from someone who has already made mistakes (ie learning from tutorials and such).

You could get better. You may never get better but if you want to get better you need to go to those two websites and start looking at what brushes and techniques you need to learn to become fairly decent.

If you want a great example of a couple members in the community who came from very little to being one of my favourite imagers around, look at T3chno and incluye. They both started from scratch and with a bit of prodding from other members and utilizing resources from around the internet they have become some of the best imagers that the forums have seen since Jakel and rocket_thumped.

I hope you take this as help instead of as criticism, because I really am trying to help. Get the resources, make another sig and I /MAY/ ("may" meaning I don't know if I will but I might) start teaching you about color and location.

Oh, yeah, sure. I'll get on it.

Pawz: Ouch. I see what you're saying, but still, ouch.

I've been making stuff in Photosop for years, but most of it was working from photos and not really related to signature making. Plus, it's been a while since I've done anything with it.

While I appreciate your suggestion about fonts and brushes and such, I'm not sure I'll take it. Before I did anything, I looked around for some fonts, mainly because I used to have a bunch, but I ultimately decided against them, as I did brushes. I was looking through them, and all of them I could only imagine using in some terrible, tacky way, so I didn't get any. So, I just enjoyed experimenting with the basic tools and not adding text unless asked. I'd rather like to keep it that way.

Looking back through what I have, I must say the all the red and green looks terribly garish, and that most of the ones I like are black and white. I thank you for giving me this insight.

Anyway, I was actually about to do something when I read your post, so I'mma stop here.

EDIT: Lo and behold, I needed a font RIGHT FREAKING AFTER I SAID THAT.

heh, I hope that I'm not deterring you from doing something that will look awesome.

I had no idea that your experience worked mainly around editing photographs. If you look at the bulk of my latest sigs and images and such you'll notice that all I do these days is take photographs and mess with them, as I'm anti-brushes myself but others tend to really like experimenting with them. Fonts are still nice to have though :P

So basically this is my new advice and you can ignore all the other stuff:
Stick with photograph editing, and then turn your edited photographs into signatures. It's what I've been doing since the forums moved and I enjoy doing that so much more than using brushes.

Sorry if I discouraged you immensely, like I said I was hoping to help rather than discourage, but I guess that didn't come off as such. Hopefully you'll take my new advice instead? And if you have Photoshop you can definitely gather some great tips from T3chno, Chase, me or anybody else who makes decent signatures from Photoshop.

Good luck and I really want to see what you can do with photography editing!

Naw, you didn't discourage me to much. I've made TFK's siggy, and I really love. I haven't put it up because I'm planning on getting all the requests done and putting them up in one post.

Anyway, I think I will take your advice and focus on photo-based sigs. I've lost interest in photography somewhat, but perhaps I can resuscitate it. Thanks!

Okay! Here we go! Whole BUNCH of new stuff!

First, the requests.

For TFK, we have this. All ninja poses from one of his runs!

For BlckNWhteNnja, we have a ninja-licious sig and avy!
Image
Image

For TribulatoN, we have wonderfully kitchy COMPLEX GEOMETRY!

I've gotta run, but a few more things will be up soon!

Oh that is awesome. I just don't like the rainbow circle, maybe something that fits better with the rest of the sig, like a diagram of a triangle or something like that. But still, I really like what you came up with.
I wonder how long it'll take for me to actually understand those. :P

Oh by the way, the sigs that you made are in the > in my sig. Spoilerised.

Woah, that's really cool gloomp! Thank you very much =)

Edit: Apparently it's too wide to go in my sig, could you please scale it down some?

599. Ohhh yeah.

EDIT: Just remembered, the poses are taken from TFK's run of excitment rising by Evil_Bob, which is currently 0th.
