N v1.5! Fantastic! I already have a list in case of a situation like this:
- extra tiles (e.g. 1/4 and 3/4 45 degree tiles, a circle tile (and "anti-circle" tile) and 2x2 quarter-circle tiles. I don't think any more than that are even worth it.)
- a bigger area to make/play a map in
- the ability to add doors anywhere (not just between tiles)
- one-ways, doors, etc. at 45 degree angles.
- maybe that rotating laser from N+
- more levels
The N formula is pretty good as it is. Physics fixes would be nice, but only with the old physics included as an option for user maps.
EDIT: Actually, hollow quarter-circle tiles would be good, too.

Are quarter-tiles really that necessary? They were in N+, and I don't feel like they radically changed anything. Maybe it's just me, but I think we've gotten along fine without them.Kablizzy wrote:Oh, apologies. Under no circumstances should any more tiles be added with the exception of all those ones that we really, really need.
Also, DigitalDuck, you can already add doors wherever you please. ',:/

I think he means adding doors in the middle of a grid box, instead of just on the boarders of one. In terms of new columns, I think SUNSHINEscience would be a good addition, as it feels Mare&Raigan - esque with an atob sheen. But with the (proposed) implementation of user episodes, this may be unnecessary.Pheidippides wrote:Also, DigitalDuck, you can already add doors wherever you please. ',:/

That was sarcasm, Pheidi. No tiles are needed. They're Aesthetic, which would be nice, but not needed.Pheidippides wrote:Are quarter-tiles really that necessary? Speed. Normal doors. Or collision! What about rockets that explode on contact with each other?Seneschal wrote:How would you outmaneuver them?incluye wrote:What about smart rockets that avoid tiles etc.?

This news is awesome. If at all possible, it'd be nice to have the two new enemies from N+, but I'm just sort of a sucker for drones, so you know, whatever works the best.
@incluye: Still, it'd be pretty hard for a rocket to dodge tiles, given the whole inertia thing when it hits if you basically side-step the thing. Rocket-rocket collisions however sounds like an interesting prospect. Rule of Cool.
Since the thread is sorta open for suggestions, I was thinking of a separate rocket enemy, a counterpart to the original, if you will. It launches a rocket, but it freezes in mid-air for a second to aim before flying really fast in a basic arc (like a simple curve) towards the ninja, not following in slow-ish spirals, catching the ninja through twists and turns, but just slamming towards the ninja really fast in a tight arc, catching the ninja through speed, sort of like an RPG. Operates kinda like the laser drone, a short initial chance-time before a quick attack. If it misses, chances are the inertia just causes it to ram into the nearest wall, unable to recover its target. Homing is rather limited, travelling in basic arcs, like the Worms' Homing Missile to the existing Super Sheep, if you will.
Whoops, rambling. Do carry on.

Yeah, I don't mean it avoids hitting any tiles at all, I mean it steers away from tiles in its way. Say if the launcher sees you and fires a rocket, then you jump behind a block of tiles, the rocket tries to go around the block and hit you instead of going straight to you and impacting on the block like it does now.Ignate wrote:@incluye: Still, it'd be pretty hard for a rocket to dodge tiles, given the whole inertia thing when it hits if you basically side-step the thing.

I am not a map-maker and I've never gotten on some crazy high-score list, so perhaps my opinion should be read in that context...
..but I would LOVE a larger play space. I would love at least the option to play in a higher resolution (but still the simplistic 2d style, not like N+). and FULL SCREEN. I've really been dreaming about Full-screen since I first played the game.
What about "anti-gold" that sucks away seconds?
What about commander-keen pogo stick. :p But seriously, you know how in commander Keen they had those tiles that would disappear and you could jump through them and then they would appear and you could land on them (with the slight half-visible stage inbetween)... Something like that could be really cool. Maybe triggered by a switch?
conveyor belts? is that too complex for N? I think I've been reading too many Robotology blog updates!
Oh.. a big one.. Co-Op! Definitely one of the coolest things about N+. Maybe both local (opposite sides of the keyboard) and online P2P co-op would be possible?
I wrote up a list of ideas once, but I can't seem to think of any of the other ideas right now. Anyone who wants to critique anything I've said, feel free.
edit to add: OH, What about a direct-to-YouTube-replay-upload - even for failed attempts!

hmm, I can see why you'd say that about conveyor belts and disappearing tiles, haha, those were really just off the top of my head. I refuse to give up on my dream of Co-op so easily though! I really don't think it takes anything away from the game, if both players are working together.. Plus.. you could always just not play co-op levels if you didn't like them, right?

Hmm.. well, no point in arguing over it anyways. I can't help but think it would be cool, but I'm actually much more interested in full screen with higher resolution. Do you think that's more likely?

I love making tilesets.
I love making tilesets because it's so rewarding to find a tile combination which looks like something that looks good...
I would find it much less rewarding if there were all those new tiles people are talking about; such as quarter-tiles, 2q and 2w, a single circle tile or a single anti-circle tile(wtf???)...
In other words, I would not like more tiles. It would also make the game more complex...

There should also be a bad ninja who runs around stealing your gold, and if you come too close to him, he calls his yakuza buddies and they all do a really cool looking kill of you, like something out of final fantasy.
We can call him cubert.
We can call him cubert.

When I right click it says "settings" and "about Macromedia Flash Player 7" ...where is the Show All? hm.Inspired wrote:All you guys harping on about fullscreen should know that it is already available.
Open N. Press Ctrl+F. Right-click. Click "Show All."
AND VOILA FULLSCREEN.
Anyways, I apologize if my random ideas upset any of you. If I come up with any more, feel free to continue explaining your dislike of them.
I have to say though... it sounds like a lot of you want v1.5 to be EXACTLY v1.4

Yeah, that only works in nreality. I think because it uses flash 9 instead of 7 or something.Joelface wrote:When I right click it says "settings" and "about Macromedia Flash Player 7" ...where is the Show All? hm.Inspired wrote:All you guys harping on about fullscreen should know that it is already available.

What about n+ on the XBLA? That has multiplayer, and it's worked quite well.987654321 wrote:I can't tell you how many times some new guy has come on and suggested multiplayer. It's not happening. Ever.
