N on iPod/Phone

Maybe someone could make an app for iPod/Phone... N on the go! Controls? Simple! Just put arrows at one corner... I don't think a whole N map would fit on the small screen... Maybe we could make maps or use the N v1.2 maps... What do you think?

It's just not gonna happen.

Why? I've played N with a small window, and the iPhone's screen is reasonably large. Plus you could use side scrolling...

The game would have to be simplified a lot.
Well there could be accelerometer based physics. But it's a long shot.

I highly doubt it'd ever happen, but it would be possible to implement using the same concept as the DS.

On the old forums I had suggested N for cellphone but it was shot down... I'm pretty sure it could work, but someone would need to program it (and I doubt M & R would bother)...

Exactly. M&R aren't going to do it, and I doubt that they'd let anyone else do it.

They allowed NReality which was a slightly (but not overly) different case. They could even make profit making an N app for iPhone. It could possibly even be used by other touch screen cellphones. Even normal cellphones (with slight modifications). I wouldn't mind paying approx. 50¢ to be able N on my iPod touch. Do you know (just like that, no particular reason for asking) how much N+ cost? Just wondering.

Do you really think your fifty cents is worthy remuneration for the flesh and blood Mare and Raigan have put into N?
Really?

N+ on XBLA actually costs $10, and the portable ones are $20 or $30, so your valuation of the game is definitely on the low side.
The reality of bringing N to other platforms - be it the iPhone, a cellphone, PSP, Nintendo DS, XBLA, or anything else - is that a new game has to be built from scratch to look like N. And since the fun of N is so dependent on all the exact movements and timings you see in the PC version, it has to look exactly like N. Mare and Raigan have always said that N is kind of messy and tangled up in itself (and in Flash), so much so that it wouldn't be possible to just pull up the code and transliterate it into another language. So I mean, you're kind of asking someone to make one of the best platformer games of all time, for the iPhone, in exchange for 50 cents a copy.
On the other hand, if the iPhone has a powerful enough processor and can run Flash as well as a desktop PC, then you can just search for "N game" and play v1.2 on a website somewhere.

I get your point. Nope though, if I go like on addicting games, the game doesn't appear. There's a small cube at the center of where the game would've been. And I doubt it could run N on a website, and even if it could you have arrows on the touch keyboard (why would you need them to type when you can touch where you want to type). Too bad though, wouldve been fun.

hmm I wouldn't mind paying a hell of a lot more than 50 cents... but hey I'm not a stingy bastard. I am also fairly realistic and know that:
- it's not like N-reality
- you would need to remake the game, and look how n+ came out
- the copyright won't allow you to reprogram it
- the "buttons" are a pain in the bum because you leave you finger on the screen when you thing you took it off because there is no physical button
- porting from iPhone to cell phones and PDAs is not simple, in fact it means reprogramming it, again
- all of that taken into consideration, that's another 2-3 years gone, M&R aren't gonna make their game again for a few people.
- most other people out there can't be screwed
I could go on for hours, but If you want portable N, buy a ds or psp and get N+... but oh what's N worth? oh yeah 50 cents...

Weird I thought of this before. Anyways I had better Idea. You could use the accelerometer to make him go side to side, and tap the screen to jump.

I like N, but the thing was that I thought no one would buy it if it was over 50 cents in cost. I would pay 5-10 $ to get it but no one else probably would. Selling N for 50 cents would get more profit than from approx. 7.5 $. Maybe other PC-N player would buy it too, but i'm not sure how many there are, and how many have iPod/Phones.

No, it's a coincidence. Unless you posted somewhere, how would I know what you thought?
Good idea about the controls, but I doubt it would be easy to time just right for tight level. I thought about flicking the screen to "tell" N what direction to go, or just dragging-and-dropping N to the right place.

No, I think it would work I mean you can control the speed by how far you swipe your finger.

You would have to get used to it though. It would be very different from playing N on a computer. It would take practice.
