And saying "hell" isn't cussing. It is a fact of life if you believe in an afterlife, there will be a kind of hell. It is only a taboo word because people (christians most likely) thought that saying it was bad luck.
There is nothing wrong with saying it to refer to it.

If I remember correctly, in the older versions of N, whenever you'd run out of gold you'd end up at a bar. But yeah, other than that, you either a) reincarnate or b) turn off the game.
