Windows Media Encoder

It takes some learning but is extremely useful for a variaty of other things.
Numerous ex-0ths (xaaaaeeeelaaaar!), over 300 top-20s and a 19+ hour total score.

ska said he used a program called Camstudio for the N Video. Looking at the results, I'd say it's worth a look.

Smart dude, that ska. Camstudio is a great one, as it is free, and you can even convert it into .avi's or even .swf's with Camstudio. I recommend it. =)

ive used ccamstudio and it comeout all choppy and stuff so thats another one unless im doing something wrong

How about Camtasia? It offers all sorts of options, recording effects and modifying preferences. You can select a region around the cursor, a fixed region or a window. I dunno if it's free or not, but it's great.

Another one is SnagIt 8. Totally awesome. It combines a good-looking GUI (Graphic User Interface) with functional practicality, and has advance recording and converting options.
