Hello everyone, I am new to this forum. I have been playing N for over an year and half now. But still, I am unable to do some tricks which other players do quite easily. Like, in a particular level (I don't remember the episode and level), the top scorer "kool-aid" is able to pass through locked doors placed between 1-tile gap between 2 parallel vertical walls, by wall-jumping very quickly. How is it possible?? I tried it like hundreds of times, but still can't copy it. Can anyone help me out please!!!! Thanks in advance.

Hello to the forums!
There's no particular trick. Just spam the jump button as fast as possible, and don't kill your fingers. It's actually quite easy.
Even then, I think it might be a bit of luck involved to jump in the right places. Highscorers help?

And, how can one perform a corner-kick off the lower corner of a bounce block? Can't do it as well!!!

I don't know if that's possible (highscorers?) but you might have seen somebody running and jumping under the bounceblock, and catching the side of it, and jumping. Possible, but harder than the other one.

It all boils down to precision and more importantly, practice. It looks hard and it is hard until you get it once, it's cheese afterwards. If you want to perfect the trick -such as lower-corner kick off, it's called 'backwards bounceblock walljump', I hope I am getting this right- you may want to play 152816; or for the other trick, -going up vertically very fast is called 'chimneying'- you might want to play 121027.

Once you perfect it you can even be like the players who are able to beat this. Gaining enough speed in such a little space is very hard, people usually use two keys for this trick, when done consecutively and successfully it produces a lot of momentum for your little guy.

Also, if you want to partake in highscoring discussion or just want to talk, feel free to visit the IRC server; irc.mountai.net.

Meta_Ing's simple challenge maps are just about the worst possible place to start for someone who's just beginning to learn the tricks involved in N. Certainly I would not recommend them for beginners; they would only make you more frustrated. For the chimney jumping through doors, you just have to remember that the whole trick is to hit the jump button as fast as you can. Experiment with different ways to do that. You could use one finger on one key only (e.g. Kool-aid), or two fingers on the same key (e.g. myself), or two fingers on two different shift keys (e.g. kryX? I'm not sure). It's up to you. 121027 is a good example, I can't think of too many others off the top of my head, 83-4 speedrun perhaps.

For the backwards bounceblock wall jump, you have to hit jump when you're at the bottom corner of a bounceblock and going in the right direction. Have a look at 27-3 highscore or 61-3 speedrun. There's not much to be said about this other than try it and see what happens.

With wall-jumping off bounceblocks, refer to this map and demo provided: http://pastebin.com/aWShtV3i Some of the top scores on 23-1 speedrun utilize this trick.

There's also this, which is corner-kicking off of bounceblocks: http://pastebin.com/bqhBgS5F The only difference is falling and kicking off one of the upper corners.

If you want more information, I'd go here: http://forum.droni.es/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=6065 Scroll down to where it says: "Tricks based on Glitches" and it will give you more in-depth explanations of these two tricks and many more. With that being said, I'd highly encourage you to go on IRC and use the #n-highscores channel as 999_Springs said.

Just thought this was a hilarious response, and even the title of the thread would seem to lend itself perfectly to a spambot that looks for keywords of locks and doors. After all, who else but a burglar would want to pass through a locked door?

For the chimneying, you can do "fluttering" (I forget what it was called <_<) where you use 2 fingers on opposite sides of the shift key and just alternate pressing with each one.

Have you ever tried that? It's harder than normal single-button jumping with little benefit. I've been playing N compulsively for years now. All it takes is dextrous and agile fingers, and a responsive keyboard.

Trilling.

This is exactly what I do, as I mentioned in an earlier post. I just find it slightly faster and less tiring than using one finger, and I'm hopeless at double shifting. It honestly depends who you are, I mean different people will adapt better to different styles; I'm a pianist so I'll naturally favour alternately using two fingers on the same hand. A drummer, for instance, would prefer something else.
