Depends entirely on use, but I've seen the slanted version (About 30 degrees left or right) used very effectively.

Dude, all types of gold patterns can be effective. It just depends on the map.

It's not particularly unique, but if combined with the right tiles and objects it looks alright.

Every gold pattern has it's uses. But personally, I don't like it.
Lightning is power, you know, the thing that powers the machine you're on.
