Aha. Wow. Sorry, ChaoStar, I've kinda been commandeering your project =( I just got into that debate with yungerkid yesterday and we grew some great ideas out of that, and it snowballed from there. All of our ideas are, of course, subject to your approval considering this is really your brainchild =P

As for the judges list, I agree with yungerkid. We should put map submissions to the project on hold until we've got 50 participants (I think 100 might be too much to ask) and have one person (ChaoStar?) pick a list of people they think should be judges, then the rest of the mappers can check it out and suggest modifications to it. Then a yes/no process, where eight of ten have to agree to put the map in the pack. Of course, we could do ten out of ten have to agree, if that's the way we want to go, and as I write this I'm beginning to think that might be the way to go if we want quality to be really top-notch. It might be a little harsh, though.

no, i don't think a unanimous vote would be fair enough. i think eight is a better idea.

50 is now the goal. well, 8/10 is, in my opinion, allows for some bias, meaning that if it IS a good map, it should get in.

Tilesets and unbeatables should NOT be submitted during the project, but instead after.

These are candidates for my MOA maps, in case that you like any of them note me and I'll change one of their tags to 'moa'. None of them were made for MOA, I'm starting today with making MOA maps, but it would make me easier if I could use some of my old maps.

...that's what this thread is for, right?

I guess that's what this thread is for, of course, but you aren't supposed to submit yet. Also, isn't using your old maps to get out of work kinda lazy?

EDIT- this one looks OK.... Nmaps.net

Can we take existing maps and make them better?

Maybe you should put "don't submit any maps yet" in the name of the thread.

Shouldn't this be posted in the discussion thread?

i think using your old maps should be allowed if you personally think that the old ones are some of your better ones. and you could still do work on them and polish them up for the mappack.

so we would submit our maps in the "map" box thingy on this thread once we've had them playtested by someone else first, right?

Playtested by two other people, preferably. Check out my page 8 post on the other thread for more info on why I think we should do that. But we're going to stop map submissions to this project until we've got the judging thing worked out uflly, because otherwise it'll just be a total chaotic mess.

Why don't you PM all the people in the project about what's going on? It's just too much looking through all the threads.

I can judge. If someone else wants to playtest, you can let them, because I don't care much about that.
But I definitely want to judge.

You didn't submit an AGD, so one of the playtesters must submit one. Is that correct?
I can probably get one.

if we're going ahead with the partner system (which i think and hope we are), then chaostar's partner will give him an agd of the map in a pm. once the judges list is decided (and it is about to be sent in a pm to all the participants) and chaostar's partner has submitted his agd, the map will be sent to the judges, who will then give the yea/nay on the map.

edit: also, y'all, remember to save your maps to your own computers. keeping the maps isn't the judges' responsibility. it isn't even really chaostar's responsibility (until the maps become part of the pack).

hmm... the partner system... Well how would we get the partners? assign them? or...? Imo, the playtesting board wuold do a good job simulating the average reaction to a map. BUT we would need to get a panel of playtesters.

EDIT- my main reason is because the partner system is limited to ONE person per person. if that person can not beat it the potentially good map goes out the window.

Wow, from an outsider's perspective this seems incredibly and pointlessly complex. Here's a map I made a while ago, if anyone wants to judge it. Or is that not how it works?

It is complex. but not without reason. I like the map. if I were a judge, I would say "aye"

almost completion/AGD
