That's the PM he sent me. He did confess.
He confessed to me alone. Even if you didn't investigate, http://forum.therealn.com/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=60 would have confirmed it anyway. He did confess. He was not caught (to my knowledge).

We know, you made a topic about it (although that did slip my mind earlier). But it doesn't say anything about voting abuse. Have godenAtor/Evil_Sire been voting with both accounts?

Amlt didn't get away unfettered. People hated him for the longest time. He had to work to get his reputation back.

These people come here multiaccounting thinking we haven't dealt with this case 900 times over, in the same way each time. Multiaccounters are a statistic now. We run them through the banning process and we move on. Each one thinks their case is special, and each one is amazingly wrong.

This could all be avoided if people were just smart enough to read the about page on NUMA. It pretty clearly explains that we don't allow multi-accounters and that those who break the rules will be "dealt with harshly." If people still didn't get that blatantly clear message, they could read through some of the forum history and discover the huge issue we had in the past and know how much of a sore topic it is for this community. I don't really support reinstating godenAtor. For one thing, he isn't being very apologetic. He almost comes off as stand-offish. Second, he broke the rule that as I mentioned, is dealt with most harshly. Oh well.

Multiaccounting was NOT against the rules. Perhaps its changed with the introduction of the new NUMA, I don't know. If Evil_sire didn't place votes with both accounts, then he/she did NOT break the rules. Perhaps being immature is justification for being banned, but you can't say its because he/she had multiple accounts.

As for the multiaccounting years back, if I remember correctly, it was mainly about voting abuse. Anyway, you cannot seriously expect newbies to trawl through old forum posts from years back just to work out what the rules and previous rulings were.


Evil_sire did NOT break the rules listed on the NUMA page. If any mod is saying that he/she has broken a rule about multiaccounting, simply for having two accounts, not voting abuse or anything, then that's their business, but then the site will have lost all order.

That has a purpose, you know. Although it says 'if they are both used to place votes,' it does not say for each other. I'm sure he placed votes with both of his accounts. There would be no point restarting without being able to vote. Thus, he did, indeed, break the rule.

Both of his accounts were being used to place votes, under his own admission. Therefore he broke the rules and should apologize for it (which he has done).

I'm going to re-instate the Evil_Sire account. godenAtor will remain disabled permanently. On a slightly unrelated note: all reviewer privileges for this user have been revoked and will not be reinstated.

The thread won't be locked.

The rule, as it's always been understood, is no multiple accounts without communication with and/or the consent of Numa admins. The fact is that even if, when you're caught, you haven't been rating your own maps up, the possibility to do so still exists. It's a clear, unfair advantage over other mappers, and there's really no need to be running around with two accounts anyway. If there is a legitimate reason for you to have multiple accounts, you should've talked to an admin about it anyway.

I don't see a problem with how this was handled. Multiple accounts = bad thing, and there's no need to add any grey areas to that.

History could have told you that, SkyPanda. atob was allowed the Cursive account (IIRC), and there were other multiple-user accounts which were created with permission after NUMA adminship was distributed to folk with more time than Arachnid.

And speaking purely as a fellow member of the community, the anti-authority tone you're taking here is a real turn-off.
