Origami_alligator's rule gone a bit overboard?

Talk about the Nmaps.net website.

Moderators: Rose, Sunset

Gone overboard?

Yes, we do hate what origami_alligator did. Just shorten it down a bit.

No, just feature as many maps as you want whenever and clog up the featured maps page.

i haven't read all the way through this topic so i don't know if anyone has already said this, but my main concern is that there may be some really excellent maps being featured that deserve a full day's attention and they wont get it because, as far as i know, a map cannot be featured twice. therefore i would suggest that anyone who does want to feature a really good map should wait. i don't mind having a lot of features as long as i feel i'm not missing anything good, which won't be drawn to my attention because i don't spend every waking moment on numa.

That is by far the best idea I've read from anybody thus far. I will do that if only for you, mintnut.

Calm down people. We should compile all these maps reviewed since the date this begins and ends, into a mappack.

That would be a cinch except that NUMA doesn't understand how to access its own maps properly. But even so, it doesn't take that long. Just use the following URL:

http://www.nmaps.net/userlevels?q=featu ... 30&start=x

Replacing x with 0, copy/paste, then replace 0 with 30, copy/paste, then 60, copy/paste, and so on until it doesn't give you any more. I chose 30 just because you could easily see if it actually gave you 30 or if it missed a few (because, again, NUMA can be fidgety that way).

Btw, GTM, thanks for replying again. We're on the same page now.

smiley face for the idiot hey? Well guess what, there is a person called an admin. And they are more powerful than a global moderator. They can ban people bullying 11 year olds saying they are idiots because the don't know the meaning of subjective. It's just a word. This whole topic isn't about the word subjective, it's about the feature map system. So I would kindly appreciate you to stop commenting on this topic.
The smiley face was meant to indicate I wasn't entirely serious. You shouldn't take things so seriously. ;)

I do think you're a very silly person, though. This whole topic is entirely based on subjectivity.

By the way, GNOTHERGNU, I agree with you completely. I feel that some people are using this little rules hiatus to feature a series of maps by people that all, suspiciously, happen to hang out in #moa. Meanwhile, I'm featuring Baraba and shit.

SO I'M OFFICIALLY ANNOYED

You do realise if you post these silly comments your going to hit 1000 comments on this topic. Just saying cause you probably wanted to use that 1000th comment on something else.

Anyway, about the topic, I've posted this on NUMA just now. It's on the hot maps page and hopefully this would get more votes. Right now the votes are even (50% yes, 50% no)

._. I quite like o_a's rule: and I'll tell you why.

1) The featured maps is a chance for people, like me, who can't be bothered to go back into the archives and dive into the library of maps that NUMA is. That also means that quality maps get more attention - even if its only for half an hour.

2) Multiple maps on one day is fantastic - some featured maps can be replayed, but others can't. This short time span is perfect to feature n-arts or ddas which players will see once and never return to.

3) It gives non-reviewers, such as myself, a chance to feature those maps we find worthy, that other reviewers may just skip over.

4) It also weeds out those reviewers who do not take reviewing seriously.

I also happen to think this argument is a waste of time. There's only 3 more days of this (by my watch), so why don't you enjoy the last 72 hours of feature spam, and shut your gobs, so everyone else can enjoy it too.

Number 3 and 4...

I don't care about the reviews or the reviewers (in this topic), I care about the maps.

Anyway, Flagmyidol just featured a map that was on the hot maps page for 10mins (record)

plus - I don't agree with the fact that horny fan boys are featuring an author multiple times in a fucking day. Christ Almighty.

I just read this whole thread and I want to respond to a bunch of points.
First, I am not voting in the poll. If it was a simple yes/no, I would vote no. But the way you worded it makes them both yes.
terrazza wrote:Ok I thought we were going to just stop reviews!
Whoever told you this was obviously misinformed, or lying. Nobody had any reason to want to stop reviews until two days ago.
brighter wrote:The Featured List is turning into a super-elitist bitesize NUMA.
While I do agree with this, features were basically a super-elitist bitesize NUMA to begin with. Now it's less elitist and, for lack of a better word, faster.
terrazza wrote:AN ESPADA FEATURE?

N-arts get featured. Why shouldn't they? They arguably take more skill than the standard action map.
terrazza wrote:other people make really good map. That only have like 1-3 featured maps!
Then write some reviews for them. Maybe they'll get posted, if you start using decent grammar.
terrazza wrote:AND- you said it was only till NYE. It hasn't even been half way and about 30 different maps have been featured.
I'm pretty sure that this is what O_A had in mind.
terrazza wrote:Well then like someone else's maps.

terazza wrote:Look at the sondrigal feature and the espada. They already had so many high rates it is just pointless featuring them getting more.
Featured maps are supposed to be good maps, period. It doesn't matter if they've never been played or if everyone and their uncle knows about them.
terazza wrote:And I'm not arguing about the reviews. What makes you think that?
Well than what the hell is the whole hissy fit about?
terrazza wrote:MAPS THAT WERE FEATURED THAT ARENT PUBLICE RATE YET

Okay, so you're against featuring maps with lots of ratings, but also against featuring maps with few ratings. Huh.
terrazza wrote:now your [gloomp] off topic and your the one making your point.
gloom was not off-topic. Posting a counter-point is perfectly relevant. Also, it's something that you should consider doing, rather than letting everyone tear you apart. Telling people they're off-topic does not make their argument invalid.

Nobody is bullying you. It's called an argument. We all agree that this topic is not about the word subjective. But since somebody is too lazy to look it up, gloomp had to spell it out for him. Subjectivity is a very fitting word for this argument.
terazza wrote:Edit: the bit about you're and your, I was typing that on my iPod and I thought it would automatically fix that bit it left it like 'your'
The spell check is not going to correct words that are spelled correctly. "Your" is a word. I blame your dependence on spell check on the public school system.

Definitely not.
Perhaps, but probably not.

Perhaps, but irrelevant.

Don't make people your enemies and expect special treatment in return.
Anyway, Flagmyidol just featured a map that was on the hot maps page for 10mins (record)[/quote]
Yeah, it was your shitty map and he only did it in hopes that it would make you shut up. Apparently it didn't work.
terrazza wrote:Can you [gloomp] stop using that word [subjectivity] now?
In an argument about subjectivity? That's like telling an airplane to stop using its wings mid-flight. But I suppose that you would like to see gloomp crash and burn.

My two cents: While I do feel that this is lowering the value of a feature, it has kept me coming back to NUMA way more frequently that I usually do. I've even starting going back through my favorite maps and playing really old maps that I only vaguely remember. It's been a lot of fun, but it definitely should not be going on all the time.
